  • IN Todays Tattoo tutorial we go over how to Color Pack FAKE SKIN with a Mag needle. In this video again we will be using a 23curved bugpin magnum, but all the info is the same if you where to use a smaller needle grouping as well. I will show you how much needle I have hanging out of my machine and the different voltages I use. We will be making small slow circles while taking our time to ensure the color is packed well and is fully saturated. I really hope this video in conjunction with my how to tattoo play list will help you out: / playlist

      Will definitely check that out. Your videos have been so helpful for me... I do have a question though; while this video covers color packing amazingly, do you have any pointers on how to avoid the black outline bleeding into your color packing on fake skin? No matter what I try, whenever I pack color on an already outlined piece on fake skin, the black outline 'bleeds' into the color, irreversibly tainting the color as I pack it. I have tried leaving overnight, wiping aggressively with vaseline and a toothbrush, letting rubbing alcohol sit on it for 20-30 min and then rubbing aggressively before color packing, and taking a hair dryer to the outline in an attempt to 'force dry' it. I can't find anything anywhere about how to avoid this, and it's frustrating af. LOL. Thanks in advance!

      @@ArtSomething nice, one more question - I just got a battery pack for my machine, but it's super loud compared to the power supply, I spent about 40/50 bucks on it, is that due to my pen machine which isn't great - but is ok, or do I need to invest in a better power supply?

    I’m finding that fake skin takes forever to pack color into and have to go over and over. Real skin looks so much easier on UA-cam videos and much more efficient since you don’t have to grind one spot over and over. Do you find that using an orange is more like real skin for replicating color packing? Ive found them to take color a lot better.

  • @nickymartz
    @nickymartz 3 роки тому +1

    Would you say the best way of blending color is from dark to lightest, like you did in this video? I had the impression that going from lighter to darker would work best to have better control of the color blend. What do you think? Does it matter or you find going from dark to light works best?
    This is so helpful. Thank you for your content!

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  3 роки тому

      The reason we try to go from dark to light is so that the the dark ink doesnt get wiped across the lighter ink in the skin and cause the darker ink to blend with the light ink causing a dingy look to the lighter ink. (I know this sounds confusing) But with that said it doesnt mean you HAVE to go from dark to light. There are many times I go from light to dark as it just depends upon what I am doing. I hope this makes some sense and I thank you for watching and supporting the channel!! 🤘🤘🤘

    • @ArtSomething

      for the most part yes im ridding the tube when packing color. I try to set my needles so they are at the depth I want before I start so that im not going to deep or to shallow. It may take a few adjustments but you will get the hang of it. Its different for black and gray work as shading requires a bit more floating and what not. Hope this helps and keep at it!

    It appears that when I practice on fake skin I can pack the color in well, but on real skin, (only mine right now! lol) when it heals the lines just fade away. I’m using a number 4 detail needle at typically 7.5 to 8 volts. It honestly looks like it’ll blow out of the machine if I go any higher in volts. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Maybe not pulling the skin enough?

    I’ve just sent a fake skin where I’ve tried to pack colour in and it SUCKED! I used red, orange and yellow too.

    I hate practice skin! 27 A4 sheets front and back, such a pain to pack the ink in

    My whole body is full of tattoo like a yakuza so im not new in "having a tattoo" but now i want to be a tattoo artist but im 36yrs old. Am i to old to become a tatoo artist?

      I started learning to tattoo around 30 years old and I’m almost 33 so I think your fine to start at any age. If you keep at it you will be surprised how quickly you can start to learn and what not. I’m sure most would encourage you to not start but I say your never to old to try something new.🤘🤘

      41 and I started two months ago, I agree with Art-Something, I’m apprenticing in China and I don’t speak the language, daily practice and you’ll improve for sure

    Fricking fake skin i think i burned a machine and almost a second one trying to pack some color, sure it wasn't the best machine but grrrr that's all I had to practice

    So would you say that once you’ve practiced a lot on fake skin, real skin will be easier? People skin that is.

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  3 роки тому

      It should be easier then if you hadent practiced on fake skin. But the hard part is that you can blow lines out in real skin while on fake skin you can’t really blow lines out or destroy fake skin. So just be careful. But I’m sure you will figure it out. So keep at it and keep rocking!! 🤘🤘

      Yeah you should start to feel a bit of vibration in your stretching hand and over time you can gauge your depth by the feeling in your stretching hand.

    The colors never look right when I try using color on my fake skin. My bright bubblegum pink looks like a dark purple and my yellow comes out brown. I've decided that it's probably my ink. 😕

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  3 роки тому

      Yes that was my first thought when reading this, as the ink you use matters greatly in practice and in real skin. I would take the time and get a decent brand of ink and im sure you will be happy you did.

      @@ArtSomething funny enough, it was a licensed tattoo artist that sold me the ink. I asked her about it after making a color swatch, she wasn't convinced it was necessarily the ink. For the longest time, I thought it was the skin. I switched brands for my black ink, will definitely do the same for colors.

    Anyone know a reliable website i can use to buy a quality machine? I stried tatsoul.com but they canceled my order and told me i needed to have it sent to a shop and prove im an artist.

      yeah a lot of places only sell to professionals. with that said there are a few places that will sell. Try World wide tattoo supply or ultimate tattoo supply as they sell to the public.
