My first cakewalk product was kinetic about 10 years ago then I didn't know wat happen to it then I get sonar 6 a year or 2 after then my step brother son broke it then I get sonar 8 studio and was able to get the free sonar 8.5 for purchasing sonar 8 at a certain time still using it till I recently heard about the free sonar platinum few days ago .am doing my first audio mixing in it testing to see if I like it.ama just do the testing my self not asking anyone about anything.its Kool when u take your mind to different places
i have been using cakewalk software for years but when it turn to sonar it seem that the program cannot or looses its own files that you create. i have lost so many songs because when i open up a song i have been working on it says the audio is lost or does not exist, when i just recorded the day before. just does not work and i recommend nobody waste your time, money and effort on this program. if you try to get customer service you will be going in circles with no help! so unhappy with everything i lost..
CakewalkSoftware The piano roll view is perfect, and makes sense. If you want to edit with a 16th note grid always on, you easily can. The track view on the other hand, is a completely different story.
I'm sorry but this is the most underwhelming update so far. Basically we get a new portal for Gibson to use to try to promote more add-ons, marketing videos, and a magazine which no one asked for. Yep, those are what I look for in a DAW. Oh, and large thumbnails of projects, all of which will contain images of a bunch of tracks on a timeline. Very helpful. At least we get some guitar amp sims. I'm already on free lifetime updates, so my opinion here is of little significance, but wow, not impressed. I guess I'll sit this one out.
With each update we look at the needs of all our customers and we found from talking to people that they wanted a way to find out what is going on with Cakewalk. The Discover tab is about Cakewalk. It has News, Videos, Articles from the Blog, and any specials that are going on so that customers don't have to navigate to many different places to find the info. In talking to customers, we also found out that they don't know what was in the last update or one from a few months ago. The Discover tab allows users to see what has happened in previous updates. Many of our customers starting out needed projects to play around with to get familiar with the app so the demo projects are there to help support new customers. Many of our long time customers also like them as a way to try out new features. I encourage you to check them out. @ of the projects were made from popular SONAR UA-camrs True Sound Studios and Chernobyl Studio. Not every update is going to be for everyone, but with 12 months a year we truly hope that you find many of them meaningful to your SONAR experience.
deastman2 How is it? I tried it many years ago and really didnt like the interface. I'm so adamant about continuing to use sonar BUT.... maybe you'll change my mind! FL is too limited with vocals so its either back to ProTools , test out Studio One or Cubase. Ableton can kick rocks. Reminds me of the clusterf**k of all DAWS... REASON... yuk lol.

Last lifetime update I am buying from any software company , they are like a red flag to a company about to go bust .

I love sonar, but they have a horrible grid view. I can't believe that they still haven't fixed the "smart grid"
We recently made some fixes in the Smart Grid. Are you experiencing issues in the Track View or Piano Roll View?

CakewalkSoftware I don't share your enthusiasm for this particular release, but thank you for the response nonetheless.
deastman2 Don't worry, there won't be anymore updates.
LYTE Yearz Yes, but I wrote that two months ago, long before the announcement. I’ve already moved over to Cubase.
