- Yes, you can use diesel engine oils in your older gasoline engines. The better additive package and base oil formulation in even a mid-tier diesel oil has benefits in providing better protection for gasoline engines. Best suited for older generation cars from the 90s and early 2000s.
Petron Rev-X Diesel Engine oils are specially formulated for diesel engines and also are compatible with gasoline engines due to their dual API ratings. The RX400 is a premium mineral base oil perfect for the older gasoline engines. For newer ones, the fully synthetic RX800 would be a better fit.

Hi, sir pwede ba na gamitin ang PETRON REV-X HD 40 Diesel Engine Oil SAE 40 na pang flushing ng Gasoline Engine? Ito kasi ang nakikita ko na murang petron brand, iflushing ko muna nyan then after that ung PETRON BLAZE RACING BR400 15W-40 ang ilalagay pagkatapos ng flushing. Or kung meron pang mas magandang oil na mura pwede pang flushing. Thanks!

If your diesel engined car permits API CI-4 spec, puwede ang RX400. Since its a mineral oil, mas shorter ang recommended interval, around 5k-7k km ballpark or every 6 months, whichever comes first. Or whatever interval is recommended by your owners manual.

Better additive packages in diesel oils? Maybe on another planet. The film strength of diesel oils are woefully below that of gas blends and on top of that diesel oils are less tolerant to temperature degradation. Just admit all you are banking on is a higher ppm count of ZDDP...foolishly at that. More ZDDP does not equate to more protection...it merely takes longer for it to be depleted Works the same at 400 ppm as it does at 1200 ppm. Wise up people.
less tolerant to temperature degradation? the way I understood it, diesel engines have higher engine temperatures compared to gasoline engines hence the oils used for diesel engine should tolerate higher temperatures = more stable. PLUS, diesel engines are known to produce more soot hence diesel engine oils have more dispersants and detergents to combat this. More dispersant and detergent should only be more helpful to gasoline engines for cleaner insides. the only downside I see in using diesel oils for gasoline engines is its negative effect on the catalytic converter
