Of course not, Booker would’ve been the underdog who won and (temporarily) stopped the reign of terror (Triple H would’ve undoubtedly bitched and got the title back like a month or two max later)
He wouldn’t have been the underdog who got a slightly racist promo cut on him, sat in the ring after like a full 5mins and then who got pinned after all that time to recover.
A win would’ve been the epitome of butterfly effect and changed Booker T’s career.

Id have given it to BOOKER at Mania in a triple threat with Steiner. Had him defend it against HHH, Jericho and Christian, and then lose it to a transitional champion that Goldberg beats at summerslam 2003. HHH can win it back by Armageddon heading into WM20

I;d like to respond to Jon Alba's seemingly implying that Vince McMahon was a racist in 2003 based off of how he booked black wrestlers. I would say that he booked them the same as he would book anyone that wasn't world championship material or went longer than 3 years without getting over. The only difference, is that there simply weren't that many black people that wanted to be professional wrestlers at that time, and there were maybe 8 black wrestlers om the roster at a time every year. You would occasionally have that rare person, like Warrior, who had a great physique and presence but not the best wrestling ability that Vince would want to push to the moon and the guy would be privileged over veterans because of their presence, who would also happen to be black, like Ahmed Johnson, but the person would mess it all up wit their antics behind the scenes. Once more and more black people wanted to become pro wrestlers, and more and more anomalies made it to the main rosters, of course, you started seeing more and more black world champions and black performers in the main event. Bobby Lashley, Big E, Booker T, Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston, etc were always going to have much more of a shot at the main event than Godfather, D-Lo Brown, Scorpio, Virgil, or Zeus. Farooq, Tony Atlas, and Junk Yard Dog could have, but they were in the wrong era where they just weren't going to replace Austin and Hogan.
