Lyrics Wham bam thank you ma'm I'll be on my way thank you but no thank you not today First thing is matrimony next thing is alimony Wham bam thank you ma'm I'll be on my way I'm just too young to get married you see there's too many places that I'd rather be There's a lotta other fishes in the deep blue sea So wham bam thank you ma'm that's not for me Wham bam thank you ma'm... I'm not the kinda guy to buy a ring I'm afraid of weddin' bells and rice and things I'm just too restless I'll never settle down So wham bam thank you ma'm I'll see you around Wham bam thank you ma'm...
And without a doubt the only person in human history with a smile as infectious as his you can tell he loves what he's doing and you don't come across a lot of artists like that anymore Don Rich was very overlooked and I honestly think that's a tragedy cuz Don Rich is a brilliant guitarist he's a brilliant fiddle player and he's just a genuinely awesome person.
After finishing work at Owens' Bakersfield studio on July 17, 1974, Rich was killed in a motorcycle accident. He had been en route to join his family for vacation on the central coast of California. For unknown reasons, his motorcycle hit a center divider on northbound Highway 1 at Yerba Buena Street in Morro Bay.
My grandpa has a lot of great stories from back in the day. He and Don Rich were drinkin' buddies for a while. Lot's of photos and great stories with them
Would you share one of those stories? Don is one of the reasons I bought a Telecaster and those little teardrop guitar picks, learned Chaparall right away. He had a very light touch. -Edit- Actually I bought those little heavy teardrops because of Danny Gatton, another influence. The Fender thins were what Don used, heh.
@@ShotOfSelf So the story I remember best is after he'd known Don for a few years. Went to a bar to see him play and after the show ended, they sat around drinking and playing cards for a bit. Buck Owens was there and when they invited him to have a drink, Buck basically told them to fuck off and insulted my grandfather. So kind as could be my grandpa stood up and tried to punch Buck in the face. He missed, fell over, and broke his nose on the ground. Buck helped him up, got him some tissues for his nose, apologized for the insult, and had a few beers with em. Story isn't all there because there's a few details I don't remember, but I'll ask my grandpa about it soon and see what I'm missing and post an update if there's one warranted.
Don Rich makes me buy a tele and learn his tunes so happy times wish l was born in this era, reminds me of my grandfather who was a kind person who was taken away from his homeland when he was 15 in WW2
j'ai découvert par hasard ce son Bakersfield et j'adore, un énorme regret que Don Rich soit décédé si jeune, vraiment un super musicien et chanteur et merci à "the queen of country" d'avoir publié ces vidéos.
Haa haa! My brother lives in Nashville and just called to say he bought my e a new Fender Custom Shop gold sparkle tele like Don's playing. 65th bday coming up and this has always been my dream guitar. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! 🎂
God loves country music. Don,Buck Porter and all those greats are singing to the Master now. Don's life was shorbut he packed it to the fullest. What a voice. What a musician. We miss you.
Forced to watch Hee Haw growing up. We only had 3 channels. Anyway, developed a major crush on Don. I STILL HAVE IT and IT'S WORSE!! RIP Don. Still love you.
Ever since I read the "Happy Hooker" while in high school, that term wham bam, thank you ma'am has a totally different meaning to me. HAHAHAHAHAHA! I was never a country music fan EVER until the 80's and then I stopped and still don't like it now, but, I was watching a thing on PBS about Country Music, and its got me enthralled and I've been listening to stuff I wouldn't be caught dead listening to before, and one of them was Buck Owens. I know that this was his partner, but, always wondered what he sounded like as a solo. So glad I stumbled on him singing solo. Too bad he died so young.
AWESOME Country song, short but snappy fun! Glad I clicked here, I was watching an episode of MatchGame76 and the choices for_________Bam, were Bam, for Bam-Bam Rubble of the Flintstones, BimBam which is a snappy tune for german kids and Wham Bam, such a FUN song, sung by Don Rich an,definitely saving to my faves! Thanks for sharing Queen of Country, liked and greetings from Mexico! :)
Kenny Vaughan has played one of Don's Teles, told me it was heavy and a little dead. First ones had crushed mirrors and a layer of epoxy for the finish!
Did Rich use Flat-wound strings. How did he get that sound? I had a year 2017 Fender Telecaster and 1979 Stratocaster with a 1960s Fender Tube amp and I could quite get that sound that he has. They sound like Flat-wounds and he's tuned down half a step.
He used Ernie Ball 9-gauge strings and Fender 351 thin picks. I've always used heavy tortex picks but with the Fender's and a light touch, you can get real close. Couldn't believe how much difference the pick made.

Don's a legend......thank ya mam...♥️
That’s just stupid, feeling like knocking his smirk off his face
😅😅😅😅😅
I can't believe hes not in the country music hall of fame
Eff Nashville 🤮
Don Rich was the best
That's insane...
It’s mad innit, he’s probably the best country guitarist
Why is Don Rich and the Buckaroos such a hidden treasure?
Don Rich for the country music hall of fame!!
Don Rich had it all. He was a solid musician, a good lead singer and harmony singer, looked very professional, and had an engaging stage presence.
DON RICH, the MOST FRIENDLY and BELOVED Country Singer ever .......
I could tell that in his smile.
Don Rich was a good country singer. He was as good as any one else out there. It is sad his life was cut short.
Great Don RIch
What's amazing to me is how seldom his eyes check his frets and hand positioning. Cheers, Don Rich!
BADASS !!!
That smile lights up my heart just like it lit up that stage!!
My Granny always watched Buck, so I remember Don smilin' and pickin' from my childhood, Thanks for the music Don.
I watched Hee Haw growing up and this guy was outstanding! ❤🇺🇸

Hard to believe it's been almost 50 years. I'm glad we can still watch him play on YT.

Yeah it’s so cool. I’ve never heard it before. I guess radio figured everybody would know what it’s talking about. Wham bam, thank you ma’am LOL

Rien à dire. Un grand musicien et chanteur.
what a genuine person, rare todays world!
Forced to watch Hee Haw growing up. We only had 3 channels. Anyway, developed a major crush on Don. I STILL HAVE IT and IT'S WORSE!!
RIP Don. Still love you.
I can show up impersonating Don hahahaha seriously maybe
@@samsonkirkpatrick6996 Sure you can
man I love this song!!! R.I.P Don Rich!!
He hits the cords with ease .
Country fans complaining about suggestive lyrics in pop music haven’t been paying attention. Cool Bakersfield sound on this one!!
He was a gorgeous man
What a great song, RIP Don Rich. Love the outfit and the smirkiness.

Greatest guitar player ever...
Kenny Vaughn of The Fabulous Superlatives has a classic story of Buck Owens and that Telecaster.
Don.....man....classic!!!!
I’m afraid of wedding bells and rice and things 😂
Get it smilin Don!
That sparkle Tele is to die for!
Kenny Vaughan certainly likes it!!!!!!!😉
Dangerous, Don Rich!
With the great Tom Brumley on steel guitar.

gonna miss don
RIP, DON
Classy.
He met Buck Owens in the late fifties at The Plaquoto Ballroom in Chehalis, Washington. He was a Buckaroo and a member of The Bakersfield Brass.
Reminds me of Diedrich Bader a little bit. Something about the face and smile!
Wish white people still made music like this
I can relate to the lyrics.
Coldest into
This guy SOUNDS like Buck Owens! 😳
The ultimate fuck ‘n chuck song
George Jones I think had similar style, but was much more popular, for some reason.
this is live, the other videos aren't live.
Hi LemurinBlack. How did this sound so good live? Today they can't make it sound this good and they want to lip sync.
Прекрасна песна! Поздрав од Македонија! :)
Демек България
*Northern Macedonia
Macedonia is Greek
I wonder if that suit comes in a 48 XL?
A large guy in that suit would look like a walking circus tent.
You stop singing this in public when you realize what this song means. lol rip my reputation
I wish I could go back in time and tell him not to get on that motorcycle that day.
Don't forget acrimony
I wonder who has Don's tele?
Bradley Whipple I think about stuff like this all the time. Like what ever happened to all these guitars that don and buck played?
Buck had it for years. It was given to him by Don's wife.. Don't know who has it now, probably one of Buck's heirs..
Kenny Vaughan has played one of Don's Teles, told me it was heavy and a little dead. First ones had crushed mirrors and a layer of epoxy for the finish!
One of them probably went in the box with don...I know mines going down with me when my time comes
lol one of my first questions. Don was one of the master of the telecasters. Wish I was rich enough to track it down and buy it.
Did Rich use Flat-wound strings. How did he get that sound? I had a year 2017 Fender Telecaster and 1979 Stratocaster with a 1960s Fender Tube amp and I could quite get that sound that he has. They sound like Flat-wounds and he's tuned down half a step.

@@ShotOfSelf Yes, thank you ShotOfSelf for that good information.
Don knew how to deal with chicks.
It's a weak song, and I don't mean the lyrics. It's just weak. Love Don Rich and Buck though.
What crack are you smoking?
A misogynic song for sure.
