That definitely looks like a railroad or carpenters foot adze. Nice find. Very cool! The buttons and coins were nice too. Good to see you out and about and I hope you are at 100% soon.
I hope you bought Lindsey some flowers on the way home, and if you didn't then you need to hold your breath until you get her some, even if they're late! Hope you're feeling better soon! All the best to you!
Sure enjoy you post. I am moving to Texas soon and am going to get my detector out again and start hunting. You have helped inspire me. Thank you for your post
Great to seethat you aer out-and-about again. You have been missed. All the charcoal you have been finding could be residu from burning brush , etc. from clearing the land or from making charcoal. A lengthy process that had to be done several times each year. Great video.
A while back you showed how to balance a pin-pointer over your target to get the exact location of your target. I REALLY appreciate that tip. Helped me immensely! It's cut down on my hole size on deeper targets. Thanks AC!
I just found your channel, and man, i just want to listen to you talk about history, and learn about what youre finding...its Freakin amazing, I could never afford a metal detector, but I can imagine how fun it would be to go out with my kids and "hunt for treasure" they would have so much fun
I could watch this channel all day. Thanks. Just got me a AT Max... hoping to hit some spots... been rocking my whites amphibian 2 for about 20 years! It’s so reliable but the technology is quite old.
Great Video Beau! I thought you were on to an awesome dump with all that pot material, buckles, and such in that small area. Hope you get back there and dig like the beast you are without a camera, love seeing you dig, but if you did not worry about us I think the finds would mount up, and way beyond the 12th Georgia regiment.
Just found you on UA-cam and watched a couple videos. You have a new sub. Keep up the good videos, I envy the history you have there. Thanks for sharing.
Great find! That adze was for timber framing! Not the usual Carpenters adze it's wider and as you felt considerably heavier. Judging by the shape it's mid 1800's too fancy for colonial days. And the way the handle was shaped looks like the blacksmith was making axe heads and was asked to make it. Pretty unique piece. Thanks for sharing your dig with us Beau. Beeps.
I've got one of those "cooking" pots on my front porch. I think it was for making Apple Butter, and scalding chickens and hogs... It's missing a half moon piece from the rim... About six inches by four... If you ever find some pieces big enough, I'd purchase them and repair the Cauldron. I recently purchased a whole one a friend found for me. They're beautiful works of the iron founder's skill. My 'new' old cauldron was probably used to render Lard. It's very greasy inside. I'll be using it to scald chickens to ease the plucking.
Captivating... I have no interest in digging stuff from the ground, but still i find myself watching these videos few hours a day. I might have to buy a metal detector and go do stuff i have no interest about
I think someone blew up the cooking kettle! Cook must have been terrible! I often wonder what level of disaster the loss of the all in one cook pot would have on an isolated colonial homestead, it would have been a major inconvenience for sure. Great digging nice coins and buttons and that pewter rat tail, that was a prized and very personal possession at one point until it just wore out. As always it’s a pleasure to watch you doing your thing Peace Charlie UK 🇬🇧
Some people use Groundhog Day to predict how much winter is left..I think we should use it to predict how long until Chigg gets to digging ground holes...lol
The Hoe blade you found is for breaking up hard ground and digging trenches. I have one the same size in my shed which I've always called a Mattock. Sometimes they'll have a pick the other side.
The button with the cross hatch was a light plug cover, that even in the modern, a lot of the florecent lighting, the long metal style has holes that you punch out to install your select light bar and wiring. The "bullets" that are rubber look like pnumatic covers. I'd say your're excavating near an old factory that made lighting. :)
The good thing about the cold is that there is no thicket, here in Brazil, it is bad in many woods because the bush is 2.5 meters high, with no conditions to pass, and there are not as many coins as there lost, and when has to be of mixed material, the soil ends with them.
HI, great digs. I think the hoe is for preparing the bed for a crosstie. Notice how it is the same width as a crosstie? Thanks for your continued good humor and intelligent tips. George.
yeaaa chiggs back ;];];];] glad you feel better;];];] but dont over do it take some vitamins to build up your system its gone through enough!!!!! gl &hh
Just came across your chanl. That tool is a what's it called (adze) it's used for shaping timbers, beams & joints of wood for construction of a wooden house or barn. It's also used in boat building. That's my 2cents......
Congrats on all the finds! That Enfield with the 57 does not mean that it is a .57 cal. What it means is the mold went to a rifle that was last modified in 1857. Same goes with one with a 56 in the base or 58 in the base. The 57 and 58 are the most common Enfield finds. Also Enfield rifles were not exclusive to the Confederate Troops. There were a few Union Troops that were issued Enfield rifles. Great video as always! ;-) Dave
the proper use of a thimbal is so you can push the needle thru heavy material its only for push protection you are on your own for getting poked the dimples are so the needle doesent slip
Oh..One other observation. Your 2 inner parts to "shoe" buckle-y" things. I believe the larger one is a shoe buckle center and the smaller one is from a knee buckle maybe?...Hard to tell sizes of things sometimes the way I watch these videos on a 50" TV. Large cents look like dinner plates from here.
Because of you I spent 722.54 and couldn’t be happier. Love my Garrett AT Max.
in all seriousness mad respect to you your a good man helping animals get back on their feet and you like cats and digging up treasure arrrr......
I like your optimism, You teach me about soil, charcoal.... Thank you. You encourage me to dig. YOU are so positive!!
❤️ Happy Valentines Day! 🙂

More treasures/artifacts, Professor! I'm still happy to be a student. Thanks, Beau.
That definitely looks like a railroad or carpenters foot adze. Nice find. Very cool! The buttons and coins were nice too. Good to see you out and about and I hope you are at 100% soon.
Thanks for taking us along Chigg
I hope you bought Lindsey some flowers on the way home, and if you didn't then you need to hold your breath until you get her some, even if they're late!

Yay a Chiggles vid :) 00:11 here in the UK and about to go to sleep. But sleep can now wait.
My grandfather told me he used to break up old cast iron pots and use the pieces as shot for his slingshot to kill rabbits during the depression.
Interesting! Those sure were very hard times. I love old timer stories, though. Very much!
Great story.
Thats very innovative, I bet it was tough breaking up some of those old pots. Super cool!
Great to seethat you aer out-and-about again. You have been missed. All the charcoal you have been finding could be residu from burning brush , etc. from clearing the land or from making charcoal. A lengthy process that had to be done several times each year. Great video.
You found some gooid things and looks decent weather wise for Feb.
"Wow that is twisted.. sister" I love these two
The shovel that Beau uses, I have seen them in plumbing shops. Used to clean out ditches.
A while back you showed how to balance a pin-pointer over your target to get the exact location of your target. I REALLY appreciate that tip. Helped me immensely! It's cut down on my hole size on deeper targets. Thanks AC!
Glad your feeling better. Nice hunt, thanks

Colonial stuff is awesome, super interesting
Great video. A Garrett is on my dream list!
Hi there from Greece!! Love your vids! Keep up!
How's the weather in Greece. My daughter visited there with a group tour. Beautiful country.
Great find! That adze was for timber framing! Not the usual Carpenters adze it's wider and as you felt considerably heavier. Judging by the shape it's mid 1800's too fancy for colonial days.

Beeps.
The buckle thing that Rob found with the flower kinda reminded me of a barrette.
Would have liked to see the half cent cleaned up and dated... Nice hunt!
Another awesome video great work

At 6:58 it's a lathe tool I have some modern ones if you want to compare.
Yay! New video! Love the content!🤗
Some people use Groundhog Day to predict how much winter is left..I think we should use it to predict how long until Chigg gets to digging ground holes...lol
Good one!!! LoL :-))
Love your videos, keep on hunting!

It looks like a Hewing Adze
Looks like a type of Adz for shaping timber

def an adze, great find Beau
Make a video of you cleaning that coin, that would be awesome.
What happens when you put water on them?? I'd like to know since I'm just getting into detecting....
JALKL DAWG Rust.
Justin H Copper??
Check out his coin cleaning videos. Less cleaning can make for a better looking coin 👍🏻
Dan 5675 will do.
Maybe an Adze for making the railroad ties. That for sure looks like a spot to return! Nice work.
Great Hunt! 🍻
i wish there weren't so many adze on this channel hahaha i crack myself up!!
Haaah! good one

o would there of been some kind of battle there? pretty amazing history over your way
the proper use of a thimbal is so you can push the needle thru heavy material its only for push protection you are on your own for getting poked the dimples are so the needle doesent slip
Oh..One other observation. Your 2 inner parts to "shoe" buckle-y" things. 28: 100 % sure it is a part of a 18 th century shoe buckle. We find the same ones in France.
You ought to try n piece the cookin pot together n show us it lol
You remind me of the actor on SG1. Richard Dean Anderson. Of course when he was younger!
you mean Macgyver
Yes. He was a lot younger then. Think he's 67 now. On SG1 his character was Colonel Jack O'Neal.
He looks like Hogan from Hogan's Hero
😊Chigg talking about "Hoes" again!!😉
