The more people are sick in a democracy the lower their productivity, which means they earn less money and thus pay less tax. Governments invest in the health of their citizens when the investment is beneficial, in the case of vaccines it is mutually beneficial as you are less likely to get sick and have server complications that can occur during infection and thus can spend more time being healthy and earning more money.

Manufacturers are liable for the products that they produce if the products cause injuries due to defects or unsafe ingredients. If a nut processor contaminates the nut in its processing and cause injuries to people who eat them, then yes they are liable for these people who have adverse reactions to them.

I don't like anti-vaxxers and I get all my shots. But (at 12:40) the 10% increase in measles vaccine sales does not make any sense. That is unless there was a 10% or greater decrease in sales prior to the measles outbreak. If we were getting vaccinated at 90% of the population and that increase to 100% of the population, I would expect a 10% increase in sales.

I'm not 100% on that though, like if a community had 100 peeps and 90 got vaccinated. then peeps had babies making the population 150. then in this new population of 150 if 100 people got vaccinated. I don't think you realize how much is spent on R&D alone, much less the salaries, equipment costs, etc. The money for all this has to come from somewhere.
That is not how capitalist societies work. If the government chooses to let businesses be responsible for medicine and vaccine development then those companies expect profit on top of their initial investment. Nothing is free, like Steel said there are people’s salaries to pay, equipment to development and maintain, ect. Add profit to it and it’s going to cost a bit more on top of all that. There have literally been hundreds if not thousands of studies on the effect of vaccines, and in the vast majority of well established vaccines the rare adverse effects are often far less server than if some actually contracted the disease. Vaccine trials are more risky but are still highly regulated to protect the studies participates where any adverse reaction can immediately haunt the trial until understood and resolved.

I don't like anti-vaxxers and I get all my shots. But (at 12:40) the 10% increase in measles vaccine sales does not make any sense. That is unless there was a 10% or greater decrease in sales prior to the measles outbreak. If we were getting vaccinated at 90% of the population and that increase to 100% of the population, I would expect a 10% increase in sales.

Correlation does not equal causation. Vaccines did not cause your son's autism. Something like 30% of the population has the MTHFR mutation and only in extremely rare cases does it pose any kind of issue. Your accusations are crap and have no scientific evidence to support them.

I don't think you realize how much is spent on R&D alone, much less the salaries, equipment costs, etc.
The money for all this has to come from somewhere.
That is not how capitalist societies work. If the government chooses to let businesses be responsible for medicine and vaccine development then those companies expect profit on top of their initial investment. Nothing is free, like Steel said there are people’s salaries to pay, equipment to development and maintain, ect. Add profit to it and it’s going to cost a bit more on top of all that. There have literally been hundreds if not thousands of studies on the effect of vaccines, and in the vast majority of well established vaccines the rare adverse effects are often far less server than if some actually contracted the disease. Vaccine trials are more risky but are still highly regulated to protect the studies participates where any adverse reaction can immediately haunt the trial until understood and resolved.
