String bean is an lyrical genius. To be so creative in character and song. And by God can he play that banjo. Seemed like such a genuine person too, RIP
This is false. I played on the street today and made 7$ in an hour. Not great, but not bad for what I would essentially be doing at home but with no practice in front of actual people.
Looking back at this wondering how many musicians he's influenced over the decades just by his caricature alone. First one I think comes to mind is Les Claypool of Primus- I can see him watching old clips of stringbean and being influenced by his character and his musicmanship.
4Jakov Because this guy is someone that people either really like or really don’t like. He plays the character of a lovable fool, and some people take offense to that I guess. A few years ago, when Ireland was trying to promote themselves as a modern country, a strong member of the EU and all that, it was hard for traditional Irish music acts to get attention. The mood in the country was that they did not want to be seen as rural, folksy types anymore, and so groups with a more traditional approach got something of a cold shoulder.
I know I have this backwards chronologically but he reminds me of Les Claypool from Primus. Lyrically and instrumentally what Les does as a lead bass player isn't too far off from this. Watch Primus playing Tommy the Cat live. Music is a lot different at first but wait until he settles down on the verses.
I’m standing at his graveside playing this video right now. RIP String. Respect.
Those SOBs that killed him and his wife should have gotten the death penalty.
he went straight to hillbilly heaven, no doubt about it.
One died in prison the other got out in 2014
Don't you just love it? Classic. String was awesome. RIP string.

in the year 2021 most younger people don't like this kind of music... but I love it.
Yep. In 2021 most younger people don't even know what music is.
I force them to like it by blasting it at work,,@@BeingRomans829ed
Don’t be so critical some know

My 4 year old Granddaughter’s favorite song. ❤️ Stringbean
Then I bet my good right arm she'd also like the song named "Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost over night?"
Never has such trash brought such joy to so many
Miss you Stringbean 😭
The hand gets me every single time
I can't keep my eyes off his hand lol It's like he's speaking with it along with his mouth lol
And what about those EYEBROWS 😳
It is funny, Old String come on TV shows with low rider pants and now younger people, Black and white are doing this style.

How is he playing the banjo only with two fingers?
I believe it’s something he learned from Uncle Dave Macon. Now how it works, I have no idea
I could be wrong but I think James jamerson played the bass with only one finger.
Index for one string thumb for the rest quite simple
Iv been playing for years..I'm a two finger picker..when I get into certain runs I use 3 fingers..
so sad how he died...
Man he could really make that instrument ring and sing🎉
i smell a hit
This is my cousin
Never heard of this guy but I like the music and his style I’m needing to do some research on him
Notice how String uses the 2 Finger picking style
how can this have more dislikes than likes?!?!?!
