Just feel like I should post this here... From Lex's AMA in 2015 "Totally reasonable question Tyler! The big difference between those two situations was that Ethan and I had made no deals or agreements for Survivor All Stars. In fact, most of us players who were non-winners were totally up-front with the previous winners that they had to go, and they would be a top priority. (Although that said, we didn't tell Hatch, because we knew we'd have to blindside him.) As far as the thing with Boston Rob goes, he and I had essentially made a deal when he asked me to protect Amber, and he welched on it as soon as he could. All that said, I ain't in the least bit bitter about it. Rob beat me fair and square, and I got got. He was willing to use every trick, weapon and tool in the box, and that made him a better player than me. Did it hurt though...fuck yeah!"
So... Lex was bitter that his PRE-GAME alliance didn't work out. He thought he had a nice little advantage with Rob and was willing to screw over people who actually had his back in the game.
You guys have to remember where Lex and Kathy were coming from. Lex & Rob were best friends outside the game, Rob and Kathy were also very close. The Survivor Alumni were very very closer, much closer than now because it was a smaller group at that time. When Lex was betrayed by Rob, somebody who he was very close with outside the game, it was crushed. It isn't like being betrayed on a regular season by a stranger, he was betrayed by somebody he considered to be one of his closest friends in the real world.
Great point. To add to it, I think it's important to consider the context of All Stars. It was the first time the players knew each other before going into the game - the first time they weren't playing with strangers. It was unprecedented back then, especially because as you said, the community was a lot smaller and everyone knew each other better than they do now. Also, I think since All Stars, the producers have gone out of their way to not cast players who are really close on the same season. Because of that, returning players can separate game from friendship a lost more easily on more recent seasons.
Lukas Feuerstein OMFG PPL..DID YOU ALL FORGET WHAT HE DID TO ETHAN?!?!? HES SO SYMPATHETIC BECAUSE HE REALIZED HOW HE LOOKED ON NATIONAL TELEVISION..IT SHOWED HIM FOR WHAT HE REALLY WAS AND HES TRYING TO TALK HIS WAY OUT OF IT..HOLY SHITTTT!
I was wondering why Rob and Amber was able to get so many people to be so STUPIDLY loyal to them until the end (before the tribal council anyway) ... now I realise they had an unfair advantage where there was already a lot of friendship outside begun before the show began ..
88feji another reason is they saw what Rob was saying behind their backs. When the reunion show happened big Tom had only found out what Boston Rob had said about his son a few weeks before.
It's bullshit regardless; Ethan was expendable bc he was always low man on the totem pole and had a big target from day 1 in Allstars. Lex and Tom secretly nursed that bitterness b/c Kim took Ethan and Tom and Lex both felt cheated in Africa. People got to take whoever they wanted to take. Did I think Lex outplayed Ethan I guess his "cool rock n roll tattoo vibe did." Ethan correctly buttered up the right person who randomly won the FC. People can't get over the fact the jury voted the winner at FT. People want to pretend they are day 1 riders. People need to romance themselves with that drivel and leave it for the real world. Rob didn't owe anybody anything except for the actual truth- "We play to win." Gentleman's handshake but some people conveniently forget that. Oh how I wish that Rob would have said, "Um you lose. Get over it."
@@kimcapri9178 You don't get it. The jury decides who wins Survivor. If you piss off the jury enough that they don't vote for you, then that's on you. Rob lost this game because he had all-time bad jury management. Also, what does Ethan have to do with anything? Lex and Tom both voted for him to win Africa.
To this day, this speech haunts me since I saw it as a kid. Realizing that in a game with heroes and villains, and people in between, everyone loses. Even when you win, you take a massive risk losing a chunk of your soul on the way.
In my opinion. Lex & Rob were BOTH wrong. Throughout Africa and All-Stars, Lex constantly preached about the whole "It's just business, nothing personal" statement. He turned on Ethan and Coby, two of his friends/alliance members. So when he said that to Jerri, Colby and Ethan, he made himself look like a huge tool saying that friendship actually does matter in the game. Rob and Lex were very close friends outside the game and had a pre-game alliance. Although Lex did turn on Colby and Ethan, he didn't make any deals or shake hands with them like Rob did. Rob and Lex made a deal and both shook hands. I'm sure if Rob didn't shake hands with Lex thus forming a deal, it wouldn't have been too bad. Rob through away close friendships when he could've handled things with a modicum of class and decency.
PrinceBags Perfectly said. Both Lex and Rob demonstrated a severe lack of tact in their speech and their actions. My guess is that Lex MEANT to say that, unlike his friendships with Jerri, Colby, and Ethan, Rob had completely blended their friendship with the game by asking him to keep Amber in the game for personal reasons. Combine this with the fact that Lex had comforted Rob over his ex-girlfriends before, and you have a highly intimate deal that they made. Lex was going to keep Amber in the game so Rob could continue building his relationship with her and, ultimately, get a chance to leave his past behind for true love. Lex did not make any such deal with anyone else, and even his alliance with Jerri was for the sake of the game, not for a real-life situation. Lex's and Rob's pre-game alliance probably added to the blow, though it wasn't nearly as important as the fact that Rob made a deal so that Lex would help him with a personal issue, and he broke it. Lex DID separate his friendships from his game strategy, until Rob obligated him to merge the two together for a dire situation. If he had pointed this out in his speech, it would have been much less inaccurate than it was. But, at the same time, I suspect that he wasn't willing to tell the whole viewing world so many aspects of his personal history with Rob to weave a full story, as just about everyone is hesitant in sharing their personal details with everyone else. Then, on the other hand, Rob said he would repay Lex for keeping Amber around by keeping HIM around. This is where he mixed real life and the game together, in an extremely messy way. It's the worst thing you can do on Survivor, and it caused his motive to win and his motive to stay friends with Lex to clash. He was in the exact setting for the former- which did people think he was going to choose? We can THINK that we would've done better than him in his situation, but Survivor naturally brings out the worst in people: their cutthroat, conniving, and paranoid side. The prize is cash, but the price is compromising who you are in real life. Rob has tried to mend his relationship with Lex, but it's been a lost cause. Friendships often are lost because of horrid misunderstandings and miscommunication, and theirs is no exception. I say blame the circumstance, not the people, because Survivor is much more brutal than any human being.
@@ImJoji It's up to the players how they perceive the boundaries in their season. We don't have this problem in Australian Survivor. You can do any cut throat thing you like and you all shake hands and are mates afterwards. US Survivor is behind in that respect, but it could be because the prize money is much smaller in Australian Survivor.
If you closed your eyes and didn't think about who that was from and all the entanglements of the season and the personal complications within it, that's a pretty powerful, spot on speech.
Lex ended Rob's game right here. Rob was so shaken by this that he proceeded to have a really bad Final Tribal Council that ruined any chance he had to win. That being said, Lex really had no one to blame but himself, as the way he managed his tribe pre-merge was really dumb.
Yeah his game really sucked this season. He had all the pre game connections he needed to dominate. Not getting on the same tribe as people as Rob and Tom early was bad luck, but he still wound up on a tribe with a lot of his friends after that, and made all the wrong choices, made his tribe weak by voting off their physically strong members, then taking the dumb deal, and kabam. Agree he only has himself to blame but his bitterness at Rob is also fully justified IMO. Both can be true at once.
The game was already decided. Everyone's votes were already determined and nothing changed, nor was anyone open to changing it. Alicia, Tom and Lex all wanted Rob to lose more than anything. Shi Ann was convinced Amber was the real mastermind, manipulating Rob and everyone. Kathy was always voting for Rob who she was close friends with in spite of everything. Rupert and Jenna respected Rob for honoring his deals with them. I really can't think of anything Rob could have done to win, other than attacking Amber's game to expose she wasn't in control like shiann thought. For obvious reasons, he was never gonna speak negatively about her or her game.
You see I wld be on robs side here , but he acted guilty and all but in the interviews he was like "you really believe I was gonna save you ?" And was corky , atleast when lex voted out Ethan and his members he told them as it is
It's funny how Lex can lecture (maybe I should call this a 'Lexture'?) about 'The Game' after the long list of people he backstabbed along the way. He tossed Colby and Ethan in favor of Jerri, only to toss Jerri for the vague promise of a 'favor' from Rob. All the while insisting it's 'Just Business' and then he stands there with this righteous speech about how he can't accept that it's 'Just Business' when the screws get turned on him. You're out because you got played, playa....take it like you expected the people you screwed over to take it.
My problem with Lex's anger is a while back Lex and Jerri had a conversation while they were still on Mogo Mogo before the challenge where Sue quit. Jerri pledged her loyalty to Lex and in a confessional he said he trusted her but also said that if there was a situation where he could exploit friendship to get himself further in the game then he would. As Lex said, "It's business." Rob the exact same thing when he made his plea to Lex. He exploited his friendship with Lex to get further in the game. Lex got a taste of his own medicine. Lex talked the talk but he couldn't walk the walk. Walk like a man, talk like a man, take it like a man.
The difference was that Lex and Boston Rob were best friends. The guy would come over to his house to spend the night and he would counsel him when he broke up with a girlfriend. They were best friends and the way Rob handled it made it seem like he didn't give a damn about all the things he done for him in the past. If Rob had handled it in a more mature fashion. I get the feeling Lex wouldn't have been bitter or upset about it. But he saw his true colors the way he came off heartless and unemphatic.
I have watched a lot of seasons of Survivor, but this all star season was the best by far, such personalities in one place. They need to make another all star survivor!
Facts....this is the sad truth about wining survivor.....the only person who cannot feel this way is Fabio who played the perfect game in the sense of outside the game knowingly or unknowingly
Ihate GMZ fuck you in Marqaseus Rob was badass and was voted out for inventing a new way to strategize (By purposely lying to people) In All Stars everyone was pro and Rob destroyed the strategic game and physical game he was robbed bc of bitter jury. In HvV, he destroyed pre merge challenges more than anyone ever and was robbed bc of Coachs dumbass. He perfected the game although everyone was retarded in RI.
Chester The Jester I say Cirie. Cirie is more strategic and likeable than Parv. She should have won Micronesia in a final 3. And Parv could win another season.
The players in 'Panama: Exile Island' were much bigger sheep. They fell for Aras' disingenuous personality and went along with his idea of treating the show like a huge popularity contest.
Did you ever consider that it was his skill that made them look like sheep? Also, many great players have NEVER won. Cirie, Russell Hantz, Cesternino, Fairplay, Wentworth, to name a few. One more thing - consider this. Rob was one vote away from winning All Stars and had a terrific shot of winning HvV. Had he not had the disadvantage of playing against the unknown quantity of Russell Hantz, Coach and Jerri wouldn't have turned, which would have left his alliance intact. He then would have been in control of that game.
@gregmacfd3 Exactly...Lex's exact words to Ethan were "This is just business, nothing personal," but when he's the one going home, it all of a sudden became personal
Rob is the same though so who cares. He whined like a baby at the RI Reunion about Grant, someone he betrayed for no reason at all on RI, not being besties with him post show, but when Coach voted him out he said "you are a little man Coach" and refused to shake his hand.
@@frankiedelgadoes There's a difference there...Rob wasn't upset because of being voted out, because he didn't care when Jerri flipped...his comment stemmed from Coach being a hypocrite, because for all Coach's talk about playing with honor and integrity, when the time came to put his words into action, he just cast a throwaway vote for Courtney instead of picking a side, and that was what caused Rob to call him out
this is extremely rich coming from lex considering he did the exact same thing to ethan and colby. you know what they say about people who live in glass houses right?
I just watched the Early Show interview that Lex did for All-Stars. Lex explained he wasn't bitter about getting voted off. He was more upset about how Boston Rob conducted himself and how he basically played Lex and used his friendship with Lex to get ahead in the game and he didn't come up to Lex and say "I can't promise that I can take care of you." He shook his hand and said "If you take care of her. I'll take care of you." Amber actually felt like they owed Lex and Kathy. Boston Rob wasn't being classy about it. He totally didn't handle it properly. He said "If you want to put our friendship on the line I will." He didn't say Lex was a threat. He could have handled it differently and he wouldn't have burned bridges with Lex and Kathy if he handled it in a classy and mature way instead of in a very classless way and acted like a total jerk and he didn't even say to Lex "You're a big threat to me and my alliance. So I have to get rid of you." I'm pretty sure Lex wouldn't have been upset with Rob if Rob handled the situation better.
BayareaGuy06 ya but didnt Lex destroy Ethans and his friendship by voting him off?..HE totally used Jerry as well, like i said in the other comment..hypocrite..I hate Lex,, he's my number 1 most hated guy on survivor that ive ever seen and there has been some doushebags on there too..
Finalman26 THA BULLZ Lex didn't shake Jerri and Ethan hands. Boston Rob shook his hand and basically cut his throat after he did him a favor. There is a difference. Things were different back then. The Survivor alumni were much closer and a tight knit group. Lex and Kathy were close to Rob. Lex would have Rob stay over at his house and he would even cry on the phone to Lex over ex girlfriends. Boston Rob could have handled it differently by saying that he was a threat instead of saying he wanted to put their friendship on the line and not being classy about it. Survivor is better when it's all strangers. On Heroes VS Villains and this coming up Survivor Cambodia Second Chances will be different. Because there are so many alumni that not everybody knows each other on a personal level.
BayareaGuy06 Yeah, I think it's not just "Rob betrayed the promise made outside of the game based off of an intimate friendship", it's that Rob seemed so fucking pleased to have done it. Laughing about it, bragging to his brother about it- it's just flat out dickish to get so much glee out of breaking your friend.
BayareaGuy06 It was so long ago that i forgot the season and srry its takin me so long to respond..But didnt Lex say personal friendships were excluded when it comes to the game?..I can recall him saying that..So the difference between what he did to Jerri and Ethan than what Rob did to him was because of a simple handshake and because of their personal friendship? I thought they were all friends as well cept maybe Jerri who he totally used to get further in the game..LOL..And that guy is bringing up what he did to alicia..Lex did much worse bud..
***** Maybe rob knows Lex a lil better than we do and knows his for the egocentric kind of person he is?? Or Lex is possibly trying to make them seem more like friends than they really were..In either case from what i saw from the africa season was his huge ego there..dDd u not see how he was after one vote?..I do need to watch that season but i saw clips..IT is possible too that rob is a total dousher i wont deny that but to say lex is a good guy is total udder bs..I would not trust that guy with my life nor do i even like him after watching clips of him and on this all star season especially..
I've listened to the commentaries during these episodes and it sounds like there was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that we were not privy to. Lex insists, along with Kathy, that Rob came to him outside of the game. So who knows? Only they and Rob know.
Ben Lamberton Not really. At the time of this season, survivor was a lot more personal. Also take in the fact that Rob and Lex were friends BEFORE all-stars, and Rob put that friend ship on the line for a million bucks.
Lex had a point. At this time when a majority of the alumni of Survivor were close that the game went beyond the game itself. There were blurred lines between the game and life and things weren't always cut and dry. Lex had another good point that a real measure of a man is how he conducts himself. After the fact he voted Lex off. He bragged to his brother about it in a malicious way. He also bad mouthed Big Tom and his son Beau.
At first I would agree....but Lex is a hypocrite. He did the same thing to ethan, jerri, and colby. I'm not saying Rob was right, I would rather say Lex is more in the wrong.
+BayareaGuy06 Lex threw Ethan, one of his best friends, under the bus, and Ethan didn't take it well. He got rid of Jerri and Colby too, but when the same thing happens to him, it's wrong. This was addressed in the reunion.
+BayareaGuy06 i agree with wat ur sayin about lex what he needed to understand though was it wasnt just rob that voted him out it was the whole former chapera members plus rupert and jenna. what rob shouldve done was handling this differently rather then shouting in lexs face that way the relationship lex and rob had wouldnt b broken. Not trying to back rob but at this stage he was only 25 years old who has little life experience and people learn from mistakes which this was the case for rob.
People complain about boring players in the recent seasons, yet still get on Lex. Make up your mind what you want. Say what you will about him, hypocrite, self righteous, whiner, obnoxious, he is anything but boring.
Boston Rob is a nice survivor player, but what he did is not only bad stab, he also cost him to be get rid and betrayed by his alliance at Heroes Vs Villians due to his agressive gameplay in his previous season.
at the beginning of the season he was all "new game for me, im ruthless now." he proved himself by voting out friends Ethan and Colby, but he failed the final test: sparing Amber cost his tribe the advantage, the breaking up of the alliance which sat in the final 2, as well as his own most loyal ally (Jerri). he should have known Rob would have played the game if in his position
@ultradumbass well why dont we look at some other WINNERS?chris from vanuatu, yul from cook islands, earl from fiji, they were all outnumbered at some point and odds were stacked against them, yet they all made incredible come backs and WON the jury votes.now, did they ever had to trash talk, humilate, taunt, cuss,or bully anyone?as far as i remember they treated all their peers with respect not only as players but as human beings, thus the jury respected their gameplay in return and voted for them
Lex made it clear to Ethan he was never working with him this season. Dumb example. To be expected from a Boston Rob fan though given that his fans are just as dumb as Rob himself.
oh yes he did , and mabey you should watch the tape where he stated point black its business not about friendship , what can he expect , rob playing the same way , of course , well in the end if they never became friends its lex lost , , as rob is a good and grand man and a family man who has two kids with amber and forever a love story there kids can watch , ,I love it , and so happy for them both ,
@@russianskatingfan that's not what people are arguing against. Lex walked about with this, "it's just business" nonsense in voting his own friends out and then turned around and cried when Rob did that to him. Deal or no deal. You can't screw other people and say it's just a game and then get screwed and say that it's not just a game. Hypocrisy runs thick in that douche bags blood, he's a sore loser. Also interesting his speech to Ethan about losing with grace and dignity was the exact opposite way he took his L.
But if Rob wouldn't have screwed Lex and Big Tom over the way he did, what would've bonded Big Tom and Lex's friendship so tight that it would've lasted over 20 yrs like it has? They've enjoyed each other's mutual hate for Boston Rob so much that it's carried them into a he'll of a good friend in each other! Lmbo!!
Lex: *Votes out Rich* “It’s just business” *Betrays Colby* “Just playing the game* *Betrays his friend Ethan* “This has nothing to do with friendship” *Betrays Jerri* (Even though he actually wanted Amber out) “This’ll make Boston Rob do what I want” *Boston Rob betrays Lex* “I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY FRIEND!”
@tvmania2 I love some of the questions the jury likes to ask as well..."What did you think of me as a person?" "Do you lie like this in your real life?" "How much money do you make?" Like what the hell do these questions have anything to do with who played better?
Considering that Lex is still friends with Ethan to this day, I think this had more to do with the motivations that he uncovered in Rob's true heart...Rob never needed to lie to Lex or ask for favors in the WAYS that he did. It showed Lex that there is a big part of Rob that would sacrifice friendships for money, where Lex wanted the "game" to be kept separate from the real life friendships outside of it. Either way both men lost a potential life long friend...a million dollars is Fiat money anyways.
...Lex went crazy in Africa from lack of sleep because him and Tom had some of the least amount of sleep in the history of the shoe. As far as people I want to have around, I'll take the guy who will stay up for a month straight because he values our lives over some random dude from Boston. Lex has punk honor and I recognize it now. He values life and friendship above all else. The dude kept everyone alive in Africa and that was no joke and extremely serious...probably a reason we still have the show cause the producers saw they could trust at least some of the players to sacrifice their gameplay for the sake of LITERAL SURVIVAL.
Ethan decided to be the bigger man and keep the friendship intact. Lex however was a hypocrite having what he did to Ethan done to him in return. Lex lost and blamed someone else despite the bull shit he said.
While Lex may be a really bitter juror here, I believed that the reason why Lex was bitter is because Rob sold his friendship just to get further in this game, while Lex really needs to differentiate between real life and survivor, I feel that Rob could also have handled the situation better, instead of telling him directly that he was going to be voted out which pissed Lex, he could have blindsided Lex on the next vote and maybe vote someone else out just to make Lex feel more comfortable. Lex was angry at Rob because of the way Rob treated him, they were best friends and Rob sold his friendship with Lex just to keep Amber around.
Lex isnt the only person who stopped talking to Rob because of something Rob did in the game. Remember Grant on Redemption Island too. Plus Kathy and Tom from this season. If Lex were a singular example I would agree, but he isnt. Obviously there is something to it, and it is on Rob, and it isnt fair to blame Lex or anyone else for it.
lex is NOT a hyprocite!!! he never had an agreement or deal with ethan, colby or jerri,he never said"hey dont vote for shi ann or kathy this round and ill vote off this person with you next round" then go back on it.he was completely neutral to those 3 people as far as i knew however rob asked lex for a big favor, lex did his part, but rob didnt live up to his end of the bargain.is like rob asked for a loan, and shot the banker so he wont have to pay back the money,THATS DIFFERENT!!
Agreed. Now Lex was dumb. Voting off physical beasts like Colby and Ethan over Shi Ann and Jerry to make his tribe weak is just dumb. Then keeping Amber over Jerri, who was super loyal to him, was really dumb. That is different from being hypocritical.
People say that Lex did to Colby,Ethan and Jerri what Rob did to Lex. If you really think about it. Lex didn't do to Colby,Ethan and Jerri what Rob did to Lex. Lex did a favor for Rob as a friend outside of the game. Rob made Lex shake his hand. At this time The Survivor Alumni were a very very close and a very very small tight knit group. Boston Rob and Lex were good good close and personal friends. Lex would have Rob over at his house and let him stay there at times. Kathy was also good friends with Rob. If this were a regular season where they were all strangers. It wouldn't have mattered if he was betrayed by a stranger. But when you have people who are friends outside the game and someone exploits a friendship and then he cuts that person off right at the merge after doing a favor for Rob outside the game. That is when lines have been crossed. Rob totally didn't handle it correctly the way he did it.
Plus Lex made it clear to Ethan both before the game and during it that despite that they were good friends they we never working together. The group all had a pact to get rid of the ex winners first, that is why you saw Tina and Richard voted out almost right away, and Jenna would have been too had she not had to quit.
Jeff Probst said at the reunion show to Lex that he did betray three allies while he was a member of the Mogo Mogo tribe. When he tried to come up with a lame excuse about how that was different, the audience booed him. One of my high-school teachers met Lex, Ethan, and Colby after their initial seasons ended and thought it was a pleasure having the chance to speak to all of them. I couldn't believe she said that about Lex. However, she lost respect for Lex during 'All-Stars'. In both of his seasons, he would have a tantrum every time someone would cast a vote against him or when he got a taste of his own medicine. I don't even think he would've been brought back for 'All-Stars' if Brandon did not save his sorry behind during the top 9 Tribal Council of 'Africa'. If he had placed 9th, he would only have been remembered for his stupid tattoos and spiky hair. Brandon said he made that move because he didn't ever want to vote with Frank. Well, that was a dumb thing to say because he must've forgotten that both he and Frank voted off Clarence during top 10 Tribal Council.
Lex did to 3 people what rob did to him. Lex has done that same thing to Colby, Ethan, and Jerri. Now he thinks he can be mad when it happens to him? This speech made sense, but he sounds hypocritical.
No, he had a pre-existing agreement with Tom, Kathy, and Rob for the final four. Not an in game alliance, an out of game alliance to make a million dollars as friends who had not won and could succeed together. That's why they all took it so hard. They basically colluded outside of survivor to try and run the game, and Rob betrayed them as friends not as players.
Rob is also a hypocrite. He whined about Grant not talking to him post RI after he betrayed him for no reason at all on the show, but when Coach betrayed him he refused to shake his hand and said "you are a small man coach". But I guess for Rob it is ok right, LOL!
Still my least favorite season. Especially watching them in order. Not only do all the favorites get voted out super early, but it just gets so damn dark, legacies are ruined and people you used to like you start to hate. This season always leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth and it gets worse every time I watch it. Also I hate how Rob and Ambers romance dominate the screen time. Amber has zero personality and just sits there the whole season. God I can’t stand either of them. Yet for some odd reason I’m STOKED to see them both coming back for 40. I think I just wanna see the dream team get taken down.
I think S40 has done Amber no favours. She continues to be a listless player and exists only in the game to assist Rob anyway she can. As expected she was first boot of the tribe and handed over her fire token to Rob. I think she only showed up with Rob to boost their appearance fee.
@crapolaist No, that IS being bitter. And no, I didn't get that from Tom Westman, I came up with it myself. By letting the jury know that pissing them off was all part of strategy and nothing more, they shouldn't feel inclined to deny me their vote.
Here's the difference between Lex and Ethan in All Stars and Lex and Rob in All Stars. Lex and Ethan NEVER made a deal. Rob is SHOWN saying "you help me, I help you" or whatever. Later he backtracks on Lex saying that he said "If he could he would", but it's not true. He clearly states "YOU DO IT, I HELP YOU". Lex messes up his whole game (He really did have it if he took Jerri) to help his friend... a dumb move but a move that he made in the confidence that his REAL LIFE FRIEND would stick to his word that he would help him. Another thing... it's very clear that Kathy was the one who actually convinced Lex to vote Jerri because Kathy also sympathized with Rob and thought he'd join. Rob screwed them both, two people who trusted him. The difference in character between Kathy and Lex is that Lex couldn't forgive Rob. Kathy said it herself, "I'm a sucker." Hope this clears things up. I'm always side Lex. I love Rob... great player, but like if my friend did that shit to me I'd be as pissed as Lex, not Kathy.
As much as I hate Rob and Amber, Lex is a hypocrite. He betrayed his friends Ethan and Colby for a million dollars. So, why is he so upset when karma bit him in the ass?
You know the funny thing is when you really think about it, this season ends with Boston Rob saying something similar to Lex if Lex makes FInal 2 and Amber got voted off. Lex was kind of damned if he did and damned if he didn't.
He was and that is why Lex was an idiot for saving Amber over Jerri anyway. Also even if he wanted to save Amber for Rob, dumb already, why was Jerri the one to go? Am I forgetting something but did Shi Ann have immunity. Since if not she should have been the logical choice to go. Kathy and Jerri were both firmly on his side. Lex played a stupid game all around.
@@farmservicesgrahamnc7830 Whom would Jerri flip to exactly? She wasn't close to anyone on the entire cast besides Lex and Amber. Jerri wouldn't flip on Lex's alliance ever, even with Amber flipping back to Rob's side of course. Shi Ann the one who was going to flip on her own tribe in Thailand would be a much bigger risk to flip. Amber is the one they should have voted off mind you.
If Lex was mad because Rob voted him out despite the fact that they were friends, then he's a hypocrite, because he voted out Ethan when they were friends. If Lex was mad because Rob voted him out despite the fact that they had a deal, then he's a hypocrite, because he voted out Jerri when they were in an alliance. Either way, he's a hypocrite. And his mohawk sucks.
Lex and Ethan never had an agreement to work together though. The whole cast had an anti winners pact, hence why 0 winners made the merge. And wouldn't have even if Jenna had not quit IMO.
@ulongkoror This is what a smart Survivor player does: 1. Pisses off everyone at every opportunity to keep allies loyal. 2. Avoid making friendships so people's feelings won't be hurt when they have to get backstabbed. 3. Admit the above two points to the jury. Russell only failed at the third point. If he plays again, he'll succeed at it.
@crapolaist A jury should always base their votes on who they believe took more meritable actions to get to the end. The game IS 1/3 social regardless of how much time you spend with everyone else. Another 1/3 is physical; not just in the challenges, but also in camp life and living without the aid of luxury. The last 1/3 is strategy, obviously.
@toonytown2 But Lex was angry that Rob made a deal outside of the game. Lex was going to try and use this deal to his advantage too. If Lex had something legitimate to be pissed off about, it would be that Rob broke a spoken word agreement, not that he "made a deal outside of the game", because Lex clearly has no problem with doing that either.
@ultradumbass well first of all russhole's HUGE flaw isnt that he doesnt change strategy, but that he has an absolutely disgusting personality that he just has to harrase, humilate, trash talk, bully, taunt and cuss at every single person, even his allies,so obviously even a kid knows,if you be mean to everyone, nobody will be nice to you,and thats what the jury did and if lex voted off amber, the numbers still would be 4-5 and rob would be after him anyways so it was the only shot he could take
Comments don't get it. Lex was upfront with pretty much everyone the whole game, with the exception of Colby. Rob and him made an alliance before the game, Rob confirmed the alliance during the game with the amber thing, which lead to Lex blowing up any chance he had. Not to mention they were boys. Survivor was a different game back then, nowadays it'd be no big deal but back then this was brutal. I don't blame either really, Rob made his choice and Lex has the right to be bitter that Rob choose 1m over their friendship
Exactly. He even told Ethan he was voting him out. The only one he sort of lied to was Colby. He told Jerri he was voting her out over Amber, and gave her a chance to try and sway him against it.
There is definitely some hypocrisy, but there is a point to be made that even if its just a game, the person you are in shows like bb/survivor/etc is still a part of who you are. Its not the whole. Just a part. But theres a reason when players come back, that they themselves rarely change. Theyre just in a new environment with a different crowd. Theyre not new people
I can care less about lex's freak out, cause he's a freak, we can agree about that, I think. But what Kathy said after that broke me completely. I always hated Boston Rob and tried to stop. To tell myself that HE'S NOT EVIL, HE JUST DID A GOOD JOB! But it's not true, he's a peace of garbage like Russel was. Hate people like that.
And actually if you want facts..outside the game ez was lexs best friend along with tom and if you remember while he voted out eathan he said its not about friendships this is business..but it aint ok when when rob does the same thing??? So many hypocritical people...and to be real i think it was worth it 2 cars a million dollars..true love..and 4 kids together to this current time.
@ultradumbass now we are discussing cochran and ozzy?lets just end this discusion or we'll be talking about johnny fairplay or richard hatch before you know it :P
First of all, I disagree with Lex saying how "it's just a game" is a big lie, because it's not. You're there to win $1 million! Sure you can make friends, but that should be a separate compartment. Rob said it himself at the beginning of All-Stars: "Survivor is cutthroat. Nobody trusts anybody! Understand?!" Second of all, for him to say "what kind of a friend are you Rob?!" Well to me it's like "Yeah?! You're one to talk Lex. What kind of a friend were you to Ethan in saying how 'it's just business' while voting him out?! How might have that made Ethan feel?!" All around hypocrisy right there. Thirdly, for Lex to say that Rob "sold out his character, he sold out his values, and that he sold out his friends, and how that money will never be enough to buy it all back," that to me is just taking it WAY TOO FAR! In fact it's despicable. And saying that after saying "no bitterness, no sour grapes?!" That's just contradictory right there. Yes Lex had every right to be upset, but I think this approach was way too harsh. He could have tried to get closure by opening the door for Rob to explain himself. So yeah. There's my review on this hate speech of Lex's. If anything, I really wish that Rob and Lex would just reconcile and get closure, unless they have but it's just not public information.
Rupert wasn't bitter, he voted for Sandra to win because he knew how good of a player she was and how she wanted to work with him and the heroes to take Russell out.
Yes and she didn't want to vote Parvati for aligning so closely with Russell and never seperating. He was also friends with Sandra in real life. He still respected Parvati's game and votes her over Jerri.
I see the hurt in his eyes but it's really not that serious. I didn't watch the season and probably won't due to the comments about this being a 'dark' season.
LEX is trying so hard leading this lynch mob against rob..I wouldnt have been surprised if he tried to get everybody mad at Rob cause he voted him out..Your right LEx this game does expose core and everyone saw what kind of person you are deep down!!
If you think Tom and Alicia needed Lex's influence to be mad at Rob you are delusional. Both of them are even more self righteous and pompous than Lex is. Also they even worked with Rob until their vote offs after seeing Rob betray Lex and how made he was before then.
Because I was a stupid child at the original airing of this show, I completely agreed with Lex and thought Rob was a jerk. Then I went back and watched the finale again a couple years later and realized, "Wow, Lex is a fucking shithead." Rob played that game perfectly and deserved to win... didn't matter anyway, considering the relationship, but too bad he didn't...
If you read post-show interviews, you'll learn that the real reason Lex was so upset was because Rob and him were close friends off the show and Rob made the blindside personal. Had Rob not taunted and insulted Lex when blindsiding him, he might have voted for him.
@psychokinrazalon now how does pissing people off keep them loyal?russhole doesnt just piss off his oppositions,if thats what you tried to say,he pissed off EVERYONE,danielle, parvati, sandra, all his allies that saved his ass,he made fun of and humiliated at one point or another, thats hardly gameplay anymore, thats just basic human respect, its common sense that you be nice to people that saved your ass but guess russhole doesnt have much common sense
Lex is such a hypocrite, when he blindsided Colby he stated that he was playing a game & friendship didn't count for anything in the Game. Kathy had an opportunity to save Rob in S4 and didn't because it didn't fit in with her game plan. They were just a bitter immature jury....they signed up for game that they'd all played before, so they knew what they were getting into & what was required to outwit, outlast & outplay. At the merge it was 6 to 4, so even if Amber had gone & Jerri stayed, they were stuffed, as Rupert, Jenna L, Alicia and Big Tom all believed that they were going to the final with Rob and he kept winning immunity. They were just completely outplayed in the game (way before the Amber incident & merge) & Lex in particular's ego couldn't stand it.
Lex was kinda dumb with how he played tho… on top of that he betrayed Colby, then Jerri eventually the karma catches up with you. I’m not saying it makes rob any better but lex definitely had a backstab coming
@ultradumbass alright so throwing that challenge wasnt exactly smart, ill agree with that, but how come russhole's tribe hated him SO MUCH while boston rob managed to lead his tribe?arent they both epic assholes in their previous seasons?cause rob help out around camp, make friends and form alliances with the right people.russhole instead just sits down, talk crap, pick fights with ralph, alienate himself completely and thats an EPIC FAIL in terms of a social game on survivor
i saw this finale before watching the season and though this guy was just off the handle. it wasn't until i watched the season that i realized how hypocritical he was by voting off ethan.
Look I’m a petty person myself, but even I think he’s being hypocritical. I wouldn’t have a problem with this speech if he hadn’t done the same to Ethan, Colby, and Jerri
All star was a very dark season, it was so personal and it was hard to watch
2 quitters as well
@@patrickona721 well jennas was understandable
Nah it was a fun season.
@@yellowlemon8765 parts of it were fun parts of it were rough
I think most of the cast knew each other before they played and that’s what lead to the jury being so bitter
Just feel like I should post this here...
From Lex's AMA in 2015
"Totally reasonable question Tyler!
Basically
@@Highwind452 Lex was bitter because they were friends..
@@Highwind452 For someone like Lex who cares people deeply, it’s basically him saying: “Fuck yours, got mine” to all other players on that season,
Bro even Jeff was like “oh shit”
Yea. When you hear the behind the scenes stories more and more, Lex becomes increasingly sympathetic
222333aaaaaa I'm intrigued! What happened behind the scenes?
Lukas Feuerstein that being said, if it happened the other way around rob wouldn't have held it against him like that.
I think I've read most of the people on All Stars to this day are still pissed at Boston Rob
because he and amber aren't quite done yet doing reality shows
I was wondering why Rob and Amber was able to get so many people to be so STUPIDLY loyal to them until the end (before the tribal council anyway) ... now I realise they had an unfair advantage where there was already a lot of friendship outside begun before the show began ..
88feji another reason is they saw what Rob was saying behind their backs. When the reunion show happened big Tom had only found out what Boston Rob had said about his son a few weeks before.
I think they were already dating before All Stars and hid it
@@zt1053 Amber said she actually didn’t like Rob before all stars. Thought he was cocky and arrogant lol.
I don't agree with him necessarily and Lex is certainly flawed, but this speech is banging regardless.
They were really good friends before this season though. At least lex made rob and Amber get married.
It was beautifully structured and delivered, just very hypocritical.
“It’s just a kids show” probably some thing everybody has heard every now and then, but that phrase is big lie for all of us. It’s a life lesson.
Karma is a BITCH !
I love the way his little "its ok to betray" rant came back to bite him in the ass in the worst way possible !
@@88feji how? lol. He still got married and his wife won the money!
@@ImJoji Yeah I just watched the season (on Palau now) and I agree with Lex. He had every right to say what he said to Rob.
This is still nostalgia as a child but omg this season was hard to watch now still a good season cuz of its cast
Lex needs to come back
Why so he be a hypocrite & cry again...no thanks!
Just got one thing to say
Lex: No sour grape, no bitterness
*Starts laughing hysterically*
You're out because you got played, playa....take it like you expected the people you screwed over to take it.
my words precisely. just business when he's laying the screws to someone but betrayed when it's done to him.
Lex was hypocritical but damn if he doesn't have one of the most compelling two season arcs in survivor history
i agree
They’ve made many more all star survivors
Facts....this is the sad truth about wining survivor.....the only person who cannot feel this way is Fabio who played the perfect game in the sense of outside the game knowingly or unknowingly
Winning money doesn't mean jack in the grand scheme.
Boston rob was not the best player ever like so many say. It took him 4 times to finally win and even then, he had a bunch of sheep on his tribe.
I'm torn between Cirie and Parvati.
I guess I have to go with Parv, 'cause she's basically Cirie with a good physical game.
24 seasons and he still is my favorite Survivor.
@@frankiedelgadoes There's a difference there...Rob wasn't upset because of being voted out, because he didn't care when Jerri flipped...his comment stemmed from Coach being a hypocrite, because for all Coach's talk about playing with honor and integrity, when the time came to put his words into action, he just cast a throwaway vote for Courtney instead of picking a side, and that was what caused Rob to call him out
Well said Lex
you can tell when lex sat down he was almost crying from anger
this is extremely rich coming from lex considering he did the exact same thing to ethan and colby. you know what they say about people who live in glass houses right?
BayareaGuy06
It was so long ago that i forgot the season and srry its takin me so long to respond..But didnt Lex say personal friendships were excluded when it comes to the game?..I can recall him saying that..So the difference between what he did to Jerri and Ethan than what Rob did to him was because of a simple handshake and because of their personal friendship? I thought they were all friends as well cept maybe Jerri who he totally used to get further in the game..LOL..And that guy is bringing up what he did to alicia..Lex did much worse bud..
*****
Maybe rob knows Lex a lil better than we do and knows his for the egocentric kind of person he is?? Or Lex is possibly trying to make them seem more like friends than they really were..In either case from what i saw from the africa season was his huge ego there..dDd u not see how he was after one vote?..I do need to watch that season but i saw clips..IT is possible too that rob is a total dousher i wont deny that but to say lex is a good guy is total udder bs..I would not trust that guy with my life nor do i even like him after watching clips of him and on this all star season especially..
someone is still bitter
I've listened to the commentaries during these episodes and it sounds like there was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that we were not privy to. Lex insists, along with Kathy, that Rob came to him outside of the game. So who knows? Only they and Rob know.
"It's just a game", that's where this speech should have ended.
Ben Lamberton YES!
Ben Lamberton Not really. At the time of this season, survivor was a lot more personal. Also take in the fact that Rob and Lex were friends BEFORE all-stars, and Rob put that friend ship on the line for a million bucks.

ethan ethan ethan!
Did Ethan and lex shake on it? did Lex make an alliance with him before the game? Did Lex promise to take care of ethan? Nope.
good..lex deserved it..the scum bag..nd they made an alliance before the game?
IslandBros15 Except Lex didn't make an agreement with them.
+IslandBros15 which season reunion please, i'd like to see
Lex is everything. He needs to come back!!
People complain about boring players in the recent seasons, yet still get on Lex. Make up your mind what you want. Say what you will about him, hypocrite, self righteous, whiner, obnoxious, he is anything but boring.
Lex literally played the same way earlier that season with Colby and Ethan
got a taste of how kelly goldsmith felt as a bitter juror. nice!
Boston Rob is a nice survivor player, but what he did is not only bad stab, he also cost him to be get rid and betrayed by his alliance at Heroes Vs Villians due to his agressive gameplay in his previous season.
2 people didn't put the jury there...the jury put the jury there!
This was my favorite season
I absolutely love Lex. He gave Rob exactly what he deserved here IMO.
I love Lex. I want him to come back.
at the beginning of the season he was all "new game for me, im ruthless now." he proved himself by voting out friends Ethan and Colby, but he failed the final test: sparing Amber cost his tribe the advantage, the breaking up of the alliance which sat in the final 2, as well as his own most loyal ally (Jerri). he should have known Rob would have played the game if in his position
This was filmed 20 years ago today!
I get why Lex was pissed but he should've known better...
Lex was so but hurt the thing is Lex did the same thing too Ethan but get all mad when Rob did the same thing to him
It's funny how Lex says all that when he did the exact same thing to Ethan
@ultradumbass
well why dont we look at some other WINNERS?chris from vanuatu, yul from cook islands, earl from fiji, they were all outnumbered at some point and odds were stacked against them, yet they all made incredible come backs and WON the jury votes.now, did they ever had to trash talk, humilate, taunt, cuss,or bully anyone?as far as i remember they treated all their peers with respect not only as players but as human beings, thus the jury respected their gameplay in return and voted for them
He did the exact thing to Ethan.... such a hypocrite.
Lex didn't ask Ethan for a favor and then betray him.
Lex made it clear to Ethan he was never working with him this season. Dumb example. To be expected from a Boston Rob fan though given that his fans are just as dumb as Rob himself.
oh yes he did , and mabey you should watch the tape where he stated point black its business not about friendship , what can he expect , rob playing the same way , of course , well in the end if they never became friends its lex lost , , as rob is a good and grand man and a family man who has two kids with amber and forever a love story there kids can watch , ,I love it , and so happy for them both ,
It hurt me to read that
@@russianskatingfan that's not what people are arguing against.
CM PUNK is like LEX, saying the truth and saying it without hesitation.
Lmbo!!
Lex:
*Votes out Rich*
“It’s just business”
*Betrays Colby*
“Just playing the game*
*Betrays his friend Ethan*
“This has nothing to do with friendship”
*Betrays Jerri* (Even though he actually wanted Amber out)
“This’ll make Boston Rob do what I want”
*Boston Rob betrays Lex*
“I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY FRIEND!”
Dint lex vote out ethan?
@tvmania2
I love some of the questions the jury likes to ask as well..."What did you think of me as a person?" "Do you lie like this in your real life?" "How much money do you make?" Like what the hell do these questions have anything to do with who played better?
Way better than Erik Cardona's overrated speech. Both were hypocritical, but Lex was genuinely hurt by Rob, whereas Erik was just a jealous loser.
What a speech.
Rob is a shitty friend, especialy in the game. Remember what he did to Grant on RI too, but Lex is even worse, as they had been friends for years.
Obviously there is something to it, and it is on Rob, and it isnt fair to blame Lex or anyone else for it.
lex sold his friend ethan to further his game so there is no differance, lex is a cry baby
@@Solarclypse Lex and Ethan knew even before the game they weren't working together. I guess you didn't know of the anti winners pact that season.
That jury episode = Rob shuts up
They were friend and make aliance before the game. That's why it hurt so much.
Because Lex would never, ever give his vote to Rob. No matter what he did. The only way to appease Lex is to let him get his way.
lex is NOT a hyprocite!!!
he never had an agreement or deal with ethan, colby or jerri,he never said"hey dont vote for shi ann or kathy this round and ill vote off this person with you next round" then go back on it.he was completely neutral to those 3 people as far as i knew
however rob asked lex for a big favor, lex did his part, but rob didnt live up to his end of the bargain.is like rob asked for a loan, and shot the banker so he wont have to pay back the money,THATS DIFFERENT!!
Omg I acc love lex!!!!!xxxxxxx
Also to quote Ron from 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,' "Listen to the idiot."
5 episodes before this statement he always said - this is a game…Lex is a hypocrate
Kathy said it herself, "I'm a sucker."
Hope this clears things up. I'm always side Lex. I love Rob... great player, but like if my friend did that shit to me I'd be as pissed as Lex, not Kathy.
@SuperKLC Rob's not Mexican genius...he was born in Massachusetts, and is Italian-American
@gregmacfd3 i agree, lex is one of my favourites all time, but he was a hypocrite lol
@@russianskatingfan Shii Ann was an easy vote. Lex and Kathy had her in their back pocket. Jerri would've more likely flipped.
@ulongkoror This is what a smart Survivor player does:
1. Pisses off everyone at every opportunity to keep allies loyal.
2. Avoid making friendships so people's feelings won't be hurt when they have to get backstabbed.
3. Admit the above two points to the jury.
Russell only failed at the third point. If he plays again, he'll succeed at it.
That was a lecture
Lex had some good reason to be pissed off at Boston Rob, but then he took it way too far.
Well said!
@toonytown2
But Lex was angry that Rob made a deal outside of the game. Lex was going to try and use this deal to his advantage too. If Lex had something legitimate to be pissed off about, it would be that Rob broke a spoken word agreement, not that he "made a deal outside of the game", because Lex clearly has no problem with doing that either.
@ultradumbass
well first of all russhole's HUGE flaw isnt that he doesnt change strategy, but that he has an absolutely disgusting personality that he just has to harrase, humilate, trash talk, bully, taunt and cuss at every single person, even his allies,so obviously even a kid knows,if you be mean to everyone, nobody will be nice to you,and thats what the jury did
and if lex voted off amber, the numbers still would be 4-5 and rob would be after him anyways so it was the only shot he could take
Comments don't get it.
@ultradumbass
now we are discussing cochran and ozzy?lets just end this discusion or we'll be talking about johnny fairplay or richard hatch before you know it :P
Understand?!"
Second of all, for him to say "what kind of a friend are you Rob?!" Well to me it's like "Yeah?!
If anything, I really wish that Rob and Lex would just reconcile and get closure, unless they have but it's just not public information.
dont scroll down unless you want to read a novel....
I didn't watch the season and probably won't due to the comments about this being a 'dark' season.
pussy
@bobnfriends
He didn't create it, Lex did.
@tvmania2
That's why you bring someone to the final challenge that you KNOW you can beat.
Lex has some nerve when he BETRAYED ETHAN EARLY IN THE GAME JUST THE SAME WAY ROB BETRAYED HIM! Don’t talk about friendship & loyalty.
freakin love Lex
@psychokinrazalon
now how does pissing people off keep them loyal?russhole doesnt just piss off his oppositions,if thats what you tried to say,he pissed off EVERYONE,danielle, parvati, sandra, all his allies that saved his ass,he made fun of and humiliated at one point or another, thats hardly gameplay anymore, thats just basic human respect, its common sense that you be nice to people that saved your ass but guess russhole doesnt have much common sense
Lex owes Rob an apology, he acted like a bitter Jr High kid.
Lex you were a snake
Lex was kinda dumb with how he played tho… on top of that he betrayed Colby, then Jerri eventually the karma catches up with you. I’m not saying it makes rob any better but lex definitely had a backstab coming
@ultradumbass
alright so throwing that challenge wasnt exactly smart, ill agree with that, but how come russhole's tribe hated him SO MUCH while boston rob managed to lead his tribe?arent they both epic assholes in their previous seasons?cause rob help out around camp, make friends and form alliances with the right people.russhole instead just sits down, talk crap, pick fights with ralph, alienate himself completely and thats an EPIC FAIL in terms of a social game on survivor
i saw this finale before watching the season and though this guy was just off the handle. it wasn't until i watched the season that i realized how hypocritical he was by voting off ethan.
Look I’m a petty person myself, but even I think he’s being hypocritical. I wouldn’t have a problem with this speech if he hadn’t done the same to Ethan, Colby, and Jerri
