Upon arriving in Manila I quote verbatim, Allison you said with passion: “We got out it was so warm. There were people all over the place even though it’s 1am & I love. We saw so many restaurants open still. That is one thing we miss from when we were previously in South East Asia. You can get delicious food anytime of day all over the place.” I could not agree more with you! One thing about Europe that cannot compete against Asia is this. Face the facts folks we in U.K. & Europe have not this vibrant 24hr vibe like the Far East or even Dubai! I should know I was born in the UK but travelled extensively in Asia. No daily street food, no late shopping. No delicious snacks at very reasonable prices. You want a snack in the middle of the night here, go look forward to McDs, KFC, Burger King, and your chip shop! There is just something so tropical, exotic, vibrant about the Far East. Eric & Allison on your way out of Thailand after only spending a short time there said “It was really sad because: I gotta be honest with you guys we’ve grown very very fond of Thailand, we’ve really enjoyed it. Maybe the most different country we’ve ever encountered and then by the end we were like it feels like home” Best compliments of the Far East from you guys 😂. Excellent amusing and informative vlogs so well done again guys. Love your little videos of the actual commuting as well!
Giving fruit as gifts is very common in Japan. When my parents lived in Tokyo, they would give strawberries as gifts since they were so expensive to other ex-pat Americans cause everyone missed them!
Hi Allison and Eric.. I enjoy your videos a lot (I have reduced mobility and can't taste or smell anything) so I enjoy your reactions to all the great food you experience. I noticed that you mentioned bad internet. I saw that the Way Away couple mentioned something called GigSky. It seems to be very reliable data in whatever region you travel in, you can buy any amount of data you estimate you will need. Keep the awesome videos coming.
Great Vlogs guys! I was watching todays vlog and you came across something which can definitely be an issue when traveling to other countries, which is the language barrier. The one scene in particular where you want to use the washing machine but its all in Japanese. I use google translator all the time. Its great for situations such as this where you need to read instructions. Just select the language you want your phones camera to read and convert it to. hold the camera over the text and it will show up on your phone in english. You can even take a screen shot if you want to keep the translated text on your phone without holding the phone over the text. Hopefully this helps. Keep up the Vlogs, they are great!
Thanks for the tip! We actually used Google Translate on the washing machine, but it got a lot of things wrong 😂 we didn't put that section in the vlog because it was running long. Maybe we should have! Thanks for the compliments and for watching ✌️
Have so enjoyed these videos from Japan, can’t believe you didn’t go into Osaka Castle, that’s my one regret from my last trip these, we had no time to see inside as there were lots of visitors and I was with a group of school kids and we didn’t have the time after exploring the grounds. I’ll definitely go back one day and see more of Japan 😃
This time was a rare one: you both were like " We are leaving tomorrow but... we will figure it out later." It´s nice that you were comfortable in Japan.
Eric and Allison - in Cebu/Manila do try Orange Karenderia and their Betsy’s Garlic Chicken (full disclosure: my nephew runs it). I also recommend Taoist Temple in Cebu (take a taxi, do not hike). If you go to Bohol, I hope you try kalamay and ube halaya. You can find kalamay sold by street vendors near the port of Tagbilaran. They are coconut shells with (usually) a red tape around them. Inside is a spread made from sweet rice and brown sugar. Best eaten for tea/mirienda spread over pan de sal (bread rolls). Ube Halaya is like a sweet purple yam mash. Sounds gross but Bohol is famous for good quality ube. Usually eaten on its own or atop halo-halo.
Also, I hope you stay in Bohol for a few days. Panglao Island has lovely beaches. Most hotels/resorts let you pay a daily fee to access their beach/pool and usually part of that fee is “consumable” - it’s applied to any food orders you might have. Say, a refreshing green mango shake (or a ripe mango shake).
Enjoyed the vlog as always. Osaka is famous for okonomiyaki and takoyaki. Did you try those? Did you go to Dotonburi at night? I adored all the curry dishes when I was in Japan. I make it a lot now I’m home but I’m craving the authentic Japanese version.
We got to try Takoyaki actually in our video we recently did with CupofTJ. It was super delicious! We also tried Okonomiyaki the same day, but had already turned the cameras off. It was also stupidly good!
YOU SHOULD REALLY TRY SINGAPORE it was amazing there i went so many times there is a resort called sentosa beach resort go there its amazing , best place i ever went in my life. i even met my now, wife there.
Fun as usual. If you think that was a small bathroom, you should try the bathrooms on the sleeper trains in your home country. I travelled by train across the States supposedly First Class but was rather underwhelmed by what this included. Most disappointingly there was no real First Class lounge or dining car. Forget ideas of the Orient Express, more like the Kwik -e-Mart on wheels.
Thanks! But we don't vlog every day. We actually spend more time in each place than it seems. That being said, we definitely wish we had stayed in Japan longer. Now we know for next time though!
The food looked pretty darn good!! But it's sad about the internet. It seems so silly, but it can be that little routine or bit of home on the road, and when Netflix/UA-cam doesn't stream and that taunting little loading circle comes up is can be oddly sad. Lol. It's ok!! Have a good one!
Omg food looks so amazing! We teach English online as one of our forms of income while we travel. Would you say that apartment is to small to teach in? We have done it in a private room more then once and has been ok.
Huh that is literally the same apartment lay out as 90% of English teachers abroad have only they usually are much smaller. The tub is a soaking tub which should be much deeper than long and is quite common as is the bathroom layout.
+The Endless Adventure very nice thanks hehe i knew a week will not be enough to really enjoy our country hehe im glad you decided to stay longer than a week hope you enjoyed your vacation...
I never have really been interested in visiting Japan, but I have to say you guys have changed my mind. The food has looked awesome. Will be checking out your new Merch 😎 Looking forward to some lumpia !
That curry did look good did you not see any Hot Dogs ? World Hot Dog eating champion Charles Yamamoto from the country with some of the best food around.
I love curry, but I must admit I've never heard of the Japanese version, it looks good. Those beds seem uncomfortable, probably ok for a couple of nights but not much more :)

Soo good to watch you!
those noodles in the curry looked amazing!!!!
Noodles are always good
Just found your channel and I'm loving it!!
That curry sauce on chips (fries) is probably the most popular fast food in the UK over fish and chips.
Great video guys, shame about the weather. Meanwhile, here in England we are experiecing a heatwave. Those noodles did look delicious though.
Love the flat tour - really interesting
wow will be appreciating the space in my own house now, a mansion by comparison!
Love this channel, how have you not got more subscribers!!!!!

I thought the apartments in London are tiny, but apparently Japan is the winner :))))))
YOU SHOULD REALLY TRY SINGAPORE it was amazing there i went so many times there is a resort called sentosa beach resort go there its amazing , best place i ever went in my life. i even met my now, wife there.
After watching many a vids.. Eric(is it?)( Reminds me of a cross between Toby Maguire and Peter Petrelli from Heroes

Thanks! But we don't vlog every day. We actually spend more time in each place than it seems. That being said, we definitely wish we had stayed in Japan longer. Now we know for next time though!

There's probably enough room 👍might have to stash the beds though!

You gotta referee a midget boxing fight when you get to Manila! It's in Burgos, Makati City.
We actually walked by it already 😂I think we might have to pass on that one though.
The Endless Adventure I can see why, though. 😂 What else do you two have planned while in Manila? I know some spots to check out!

In Japan you don't typically shower in the tubs.
Amusing to hear a robot speaking Mandarin in Osaka
