    Rinse the body first before spraying with simple green especially if it is very muddy. This will also help minimalize scratching.

    I personally DO NOT recommend WD-40. It is designed to remove oil, grease and rust. If used on the wheel bushings or bearings, it will break down oil (bushings) or grease (bearings) that will cause them to run bone dry, and cause damage. A lot of people think its a lubricant, but its not. If you use it, make sure you apply lubricate on whatever you use it on. I, personally, would like to think that Traxxas Support would know better than that. I've known for 30 years what WD-40 is.

    • @rizz0d
      @rizz0d 7 років тому +12

      they're not using it to lubricate the bearings. the point here is to displace water away from the bearings so they won't rust and lock up.

    • @gerryglauser2394
      @gerryglauser2394 4 роки тому

      Yeah, this is actually a major issue, as even a little water will unbalance the tire. And getting that water back out is a real problem unless you remove the tire from the wheel. Some people will leave those holes taped, because they often drive in damp areas, or want to reduce the tire ballooning.

  • @edbighi6786
    @edbighi6786 5 років тому +8

    Do NOT put water anywhere near those tires unless the wheel holes are taped. On my X Maxx I have them taped and the tires vented. And even then I don't bother cleaning them much. Lately I mostly use an air compressor for most cleaning.

    Note to traxxas owners: if you spay wd40 on a plastic parts the plastic will absorb the wd40 and make the plastic flex more so the rc car will be more durable.

      Sand is kryptonite for R/C cars. I never run mine anywhere near the beach for that reason. It's far worse than gravel or dirt. The only real way to get sand out of an R/C car is to strip the entire thing down to individual parts and wash them all thoroughly. If the sand has any salt in it, you may have to replace bearings as well.

    I start with a hose down to soften any dried on dirt/debris. Let it sit a couple of minutes. Then hit it with higher pressure, from the tap not a pressure washer, just jet spray from the hose(avoiding fans/motor/reciever/gearbox seams for the most part). Wipe with hand while rinsing to remove anything that remains. Dry with compressed air(avoid spinning up the fans with air). Done. You don't need 20 brushes and cleaners and 3hrs. Just a few minutes and a garden hose and some air. I own an xmaxx with a max 5 esc and leopard 56110 950kv motor.

  • @rctrucks2094
    @rctrucks2094 Рік тому +3

    Simple version: Tape over tire vent holes, hose off the truck (Body off) with a jet nozzle on garden hose, dry out with compressed air, then WD-40 on the bearings if needed. Clean the body separately (If needed) and be sure you have a waterproof truck

    • @igameidoresearchtoo6511

    Traxxas support, could I have some kind of advice on my problem? I have a Traxxas Slash 4x4, and every time I go out and drive it in the street, it gets extremely dirty because of the place I live in, all the grass, mud, small sticks and sand get trapped under the engine and other parts and it's very hard to clean it. I have to shower my car after every run for about 30 mins just to make it clean, because I think that driving a car that is so dirty will make its life shorter as all the dirt gets inside the mechanisms. I have my Slash for about a week and I'm already so tired of all this stuff, plus all the bolts are a bit rusty, even though I use WD-40 after every shower. Should I continue showering it like that or be less worried or anything else?

    It being waterproof is pretty self explanatory just spray it with the hose throuoly, hit it with an air compressor throuoly. Some people will say oh your bearings this, gears that, your gonna rot your foams. To which I would say I put tape on the vent holes to keep water out, and when I say "hit it with an air compressor throuoly" I mean THROUOLY. Im pretty religious with my air compressor.

    I have run a Honcho for 12 months as a submarine, using only Water Displacement-40 in all the bearings. After I cleaned out all the factory grease. After a full year of running 3S and water with only the WD-40 as bearing lubricant, I will only use WD-40 on my Radio Controlled Vehicles !!! & I have been playing RC Car's since 1976... Different strokes for different folks. . . What seems to work great for some, doesn't always work for others. And rubbing all that nasty around on that lexan body, should be a crime !!! At least rinse it off first ;)

    • @BUILTLIGHTWOUNDTIGHT
      @BUILTLIGHTWOUNDTIGHT 7 років тому

      PS: Fish Oil is pretty awesome and will definitely break down the grease in any bearings it's been applied to !!! just remember to keep using it, and also if you apply it before the run. Anything that sticks to the WD-40 will rinse right back off, it's pretty awesome stuff !!! ;}

    • @BUILTLIGHTWOUNDTIGHT
      @BUILTLIGHTWOUNDTIGHT 7 років тому

      Using WD-40 and a q-tip, on your rusty screws. Will remove the rust, with the exception of you letting the rust get to far advanced. Alway better to take care of the screws after the Shower and compressed air...

      Yes you can replace the original transmitter and receiver with the TQi radio system. For most 2-channel models (those with only steering and throttle) this is the system you would need:
      traxxas.com/products/parts/transmitters/6509Rtqitraxxaslink2ch
      Call us at 1-888-TRAXXAS to ask about the right radio system for your model and ask about the Power Up trade-in program.
