    Regarding your comment on MTB riders complaining about it not having high enough gearing. If that's an issue for someone's riding style or terrain, then they should go with the Topstone 4. It comes with the Microshift AdvventX with a 40T chainring and 11-48T rear. That setup should be very familiar to MTB riders, and it's well suited to steep climbing, though it does lack a bit on the fast end of the gear ratios.

    • @bananasforbikes
      @bananasforbikes  2 роки тому

      I see that now! Earlier models I thought only came with a 40 tooth max. Either way you'll probably run out of traction first. If climbing on gnarly terrain is your thing you'll want more tire clearance. If I need to replace the rear derailuer I'll go with the long cage grx that allows a 42 tooth

    Good review, thanks. You have Cannondale in size M, but what is your height please ? Im 177cm tall and tried this bike in shop and felt super stretched for some reason. Also how is handling with a 6cm stem? Cheers

      @@garikgarik1310 I'm 170cm. The large was a tiny bit big on me but would work for you. I love the stem. I just put the stock stem back on this morning to give it another go

    Sorry for a newbie question:
    I am looking for a gravel bike that’s fast on the road for about 2k USD. Thought about topstone or canyon grail? Any recommendations from your side? Thanks

    • @therealSIRBOOM
      @therealSIRBOOM 2 роки тому

      Canyon is more of a roadbike frame design so probably a little better for "going fast".

    Thanks for the vid bro. In terms of the biking lingo and all that, im a noob. But I've been riding fixies in nyc for years. Looking to get my first REAL bike. I got heavier (6ft 250 lbs) so I need something with gears. Idk shit about racing or none of that, I just wanted a decently fast, lightweight bike for a good price that can handle nyc terrain. Some tarmac and some gravel. This seems perfect.
    Couple questions.. is the bike light?
    Can you swap the tires for more thinner, road focused tires?

    Nevermind...I see you mentioned that it maxes out at 45 at 700c. Thanks!!
    Thanks for this review, super helpful. Do you know the max tire width without fenders? I didn't catch it in the video.

      @@blahaj___ I tried the small which was very small for me. Like a womans size. The large was a tad too big but would be great if you normally ride a 56 or 58. The medium is spot on

  • @benhyman7169
    @benhyman7169 2 роки тому

    Thanks for the helpful review! Just tried out the bike (small size) and everything was great except the reach felt very "superman"-like. I'm going to try the shorter stem too if the bike store will let me do it; but did your initial fit always feel a bit extended?

    • @bananasforbikes
      @bananasforbikes  2 роки тому +1

      The medium felt a little too long but the 60m stem is great. After riding it for the past 9 months I may try putting the stock stem back on now that I'm getting used to the reach. The small felt crowded from the seat to the stem then stretched out from the stem to the bars. Like I was way over the head tube

    • @benhyman7169
      @benhyman7169 2 роки тому +1

      @@bananasforbikes Got the bike! I'm 5'6" and ended up on an XS but put on a performance saddle and brought the seat back to get away from the leg crowdedness / put me more over the crank (had the same feeling). Had to put in more of an upright 90mm stem because I have relatively short arms - not as cool looking but very comfortable now. Only issue I have - probably from lack of experience / tyrannosaurus arms - is I still rarely use the drops. Maybe they'll eventually follow the trend of a shallower drop...

    Why is it not for bike packing? Does the maximum tire size limit the whole weight you can put on the bike?

    • @bananasforbikes
      @bananasforbikes  Рік тому +1

      You could bike pack but it would have to be mostly on road and smooth gravel. Tires limited to 45c and no eyelets on the forks

      Some places around the country have long hard pack and farm roads but near me in the PNW it's all gravel and steep mountain roads. I had a lot of fun riding these on my gravel bike until I got a mountaining and found that to be much more suitable
