    Honestly i think the fact no one ever aknowledges that the kindergartners look nothing like the other humans is just kinda funny. Everyone accepts that toddlers look like deranged zombie tsunami characters and morph into a semi realistic human when they reach an older age

      I thought they were hilarious. You can criticize their appearance if you like, but it's not exactly an oversight in the art style it was entirely intentional.

    5:33 I like how this is a movie about a talking animal- no animals, but this is where we need to draw the line on suspension of disbelief.

    You got to admit, this is a rare gem of Happy Madison Productions, the studio has never done anything that has amused the critic's rating score on Rotten Tomatoes, I think maybe they should start sticking to working on animated flicks like this one.

      I’ll admit it’s definitely on the better side of their works. If they improve upon it then I’m all for it.

      @@Mannof1000Thoughts It's going to take a lot of patience for them to put effort on their next film, they could become the biggest redemption since Sony Pictures Animation, when they use to start out as a flop back in the 2000's.

    So, basically, if you want a sweet movie about a reptile with touching character moments, fun and varying character designs, AND good songs…watch Arlo the Alligator Boy.
    Two outta three ain’t bad.

    Honestly, humor is subjective, I personally had no problem with it and thought many of them did hit, though I could have done without the sub trying to lust after the gym teacher that is clearly less than half her age. One thing I'll definitely say though is I completely forgot that this was supposed to be a musical. You're right, there are no memorable songs in this at all. I mean the fact that Adam Sandler is the executive producer and co-lead, I'm not surprised at that too much, but still it's a weird addition to a maid. They could literally have taken all the songs out and it wouldn't have changed much, especially since most of the songs felt like the same one, reprised over & over again.
    The thing I really love about it though is just the idea of this old man who is just trying to do something with a little time he has left in his life and choosing to impart what he's learned over the years on these kids. I love how he ends up helping all of them in some way and, and now that he knows he has at least 40-50 more years, he has a new mission in life.

    I actually put this movie behind Angry Birds 2.
    Few songs i like in here, mostly remeber Extra time & Drone(don't know the title).
    Haven't laughed my ass off in a good while to a kids film. It's rare. That one gag with the animal balloon bubble had me dead. It does have that bit of the old Looney Tunes charm.
    The communication between Leo and the kids is actully done pretty well. Do have a problem with reveal on second half which is pretty typical for a kids movie, but that's to be expected.
    Those little kindergarten hell spawns are hilarious for me from their design and antics.
    Really went in this with low expectations, to my surprise I really liked this film. Didn't really bother me on how the animation & character looks as long it is passable.
    Overall I say the movie is solid not fantastic but solid.

    Leo certainly was a point of contention for me as we can see so I’m curious. What made it resonate with you?

    I think the reason why it has crude and rude humor is because it worked for the Captain Underpants movie. Oddly, not many complain when it's done there since I guess it fits the asthetic more there than in here?

    • @Mannof1000Thoughts
      @Mannof1000Thoughts  7 місяців тому +15

      It’s exactly that and captain underpants also knows when to move away from a joke.

    I really enjoyed the first half. Very wholesome stuff that had me feeling emotions toward Leo and the kids. The second half just kind of becomes another generic kids animated movie though imo... It's a real shame because I saw a lot of potential

    Wait...is this the same Leo movie that had a Balloon at this year's Macy's Day Parade? (At least, from what I researched).
    2:49 Out of curiosity, is the kid with divorced parents written badly or the story itself done terribly? Curious as to why you hated them (unless it has to do with clipping electrical pliers to some kids braces, which, is pretty messed up)

    • @Mannof1000Thoughts
      @Mannof1000Thoughts  7 місяців тому +3

      The joke in the movie is that’s she’s very clingy due to her parents divorcing and it not good since it misconstrues what kids of divorced parents are going through.

    It's the best worst thing I've seen all year. It feels like one of the scripts is constantly trying to choke the other half of the script in the crib.

    just tried this one over the weekend and couldn’t get past halfway. appreciate your review cuz it hits on a lot of the things that made me give up on it. i also think the premise had potential that wasn’t fulfilled, so it felt unsatisfying to actually watch

    It’s a decent movie, it just has that “Happy Madison” stink all over it.
