This makes me feel good to be alive and to be a human being-I will never be able to move like these dancers, or have the skill of the pianists and the coaches, but I am so glad that there are fellow humans who can move like that and have that skill.
I cannot believe that McMillan "got into dancing as he saw it was a way of bettering himself" . Ridiculous - no one achieves at a level he did without having a real passion for music and dancing.
Wow! What a treat to see his regacy of Art and his dancers all at once !! Thank you 🙏🏼 for this special moment and now that I have so much understanding and insight into his life as a choreographer of the century! Thank you 😊
From Australia during the pandemic, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this marvellous documentary on Kenneth MacMillan. All the dancers gave wonderful insights into their work with him and his ballets. The host of the program was very informed and added to the smooth presentation, which was not an easy task, given such illustrious participants. After looking on Google, I was sad to see she had been very ill; but I hope is now recovering.
Why should they . . .? Because , in constraining passion[s] into balletic gesture, he brought us to realize that emotions themselves are inherent in our bodies, in every cell. From before we utter words, there is the exquisite attention; to sound, to light, to the unconscious modelings and shapings of life. The great teacher Alexei Badrak would passionately shout, even at barre: "Dance is CONVERSATION!" Notice how that is not mere expression, nor just communication. It is ourselves, immediacy, in a world in which no interruption exists, only entrainment, harmony. From the misty perception of childhood, we learn to step, or fly, outstretched, perceiving and extending concision. That was MacMillan's legacy. Those of us with like trepidation, terror that we would not be ourselves under surgical light, received that greatest gift, concision, because he, like ancient shaman, went beneath, returned bringing precision, wherein no lapse of attention, and therefore understanding, exists.
She has great feet and legs but I feel she's miscast here. I was disappointed not to see Natalia Osipova in either of the two rehearsals we got for Judas Tree, but I was at least pleasantly surprised by Lauren's take on it, real and believable. Here Melissa didn't convinced me. Has to be harder, raw..
@@JonSavage90 that’s not fair, because the video you are referring to is filmed on a poor stage. Both dancers struggle and slip all the time because there is some issue with the flooring. Not a matter of technique or skill
They just had World Ballet Day which was hosted by a male, alongside a male and a female dancer within the company who were chosen to co-host. There doesn't seem to be a lack of "male host" to me, and honestly, who cares about the gender of the host?
well live cinema is certainly isn't balanced. we have too much of this woman. there should be more diversity and opportunities given to the tons of talents out here that deserve the spotlight

Karen Katz What a beautiful comment.

R.I.P Christopher Gable. Thank you for teaching us all those years ago.
So appreciated hearing from the panel of dancers who worked with McMillan. Thank you for hosting this tribute and posting it. Love ROH !
Yes, Kenneth MacMillan was indeed a genius, his choreography is so different and captures the emotions like no other has ever achieved!
I love Viviana Durante and Irek Mukhamedov! Such master coaches of Ballet. And Superstars well respected.
Absolutely exquisite !! Thanks so much for this. Such a lovely treat to watch. Excellent !!

Exquisite.
Loved it all💓💓💓💓
Beautiful Clemmy... Xx
Loved this; thank you!
What a wonderful evening!
Thank you so much for this video. It was very enlightening. I watched Concerto, Elite Syncopations and Judas Tree. Amazing ballets. 🥰🥰🥰
This video reminds me of MacMillan's unfinished ballet, The Flatulent Divorcée. I heard the Royal Ballet was going to release something about it.
Que lindo que foi
WHY HASN’T MELISSA HAMILTON BEEN PROMOTED TO PRINCIPAL YET?
Her dancing is spellbinding!

Anyone else having issues with the sound being behind by a good 7 minutes or so?
A genius maker of ballets.
Sorry, I don't know ballet well: what does "white tights roles mean?
It's a horrible term that I think refers to Classical Ballet? Hopefully it will go out of fashion soon.

apparently burton-hill is dominating the host roles. isn't the ROH willing to give opportunities to more male hosts?
