  • When we visited Iqaluit, we were amazed to see a city grounded in the traditions of the Inuit people and also alive with a new diverse population. We were so honoured to visit the local mosque and meet Sofia Ali, who believes she is the first Muslim person to be born in Nunavut. Later that same day, we visited the Qayait Society, which is working to teach young people Inuit traditions, like building kayaks. We are absolutely impressed and inspired by the vibrant culture of Iqaluit.

Plus tard sur le même jour, nous avons visité la société Qayait, qui travaille à enseigner les jeunes les traditions inuites, telles que la construction de kayaks. Nous étions absolument impressionnés et inspirés par la culture vive d'Iqaluit.

What I understand or learned its an excellent place for the 'research scientists' of earth resources, like geologists and others who keen to understand the environmental impacts on earlier, existing and prim beings in the northern part of the globe. They could also able to accomplished and understand the behavior of various products in extreme weather conditions and their utility in the modern world. I reckon its a cool and calm place away from the large metropolitan. In the last but not the least, I feels pleasure to heard the 'offering and calling for pray', for the Muslims in this far flung area of Canada.

My ancestors were the first muslims in Canada. Praise God they all became Christians and many became clergymen. So well those two ancestors are headed to the fires of Hell most of those born after were good faithful Christians and so are headed to Heaven . Thanks to Jesus the only Son of God who is now one in the Holy Trinity

Land is for everyone to enjoy. Whoever is willing to live in peace and harmony with others should be welcome as much in nunavut as in africa or china. Diversity is the norm, people have always migrated. Land ownership is a conquerors/settler mentality

Why the hell Muslims want everyone to hear their prayers on loudspeakers? The whole of India is troubled with this nonsense 5 times a day and they are doing it here in the remotest places in North Canada too.

It's a shame. There's so much beauty in the north that they could be focusing on but rather they'd push their political agenda.

A video showing the diversity of the people living there isn't pushing diversity. Don't be so braindead.

heeheex2 it’s false advertisement, Nunavut is not that diverse so they focus mostly on those special cases like the Muslim girl to try and pint a faux picture of diversity. I’m for diversity and integration but Nunavut is tied to Inuit culture and since that’s the vast majority of those who live there showing other races instead of that is kinda taking away from Nunavut culture. Plus adding that quebecoise (im québécois) was really forced

False advertisement? Are you joking? They are focusing on the growing diverse population, read the description... This has to be a troll. And congratulations on being one of the 8.2 million people that live in Quebec.

I guess so, because didn't the Europeans force all first nation people there to convert to christianity, took their children away, put them in residential schools and stole their land ? I'm sure there must be christians living there :)
