Hi..as I understand from your website, you are dealing with both Mangalore Tiles (Clay) and Monier (Concrete) Tiles. Which one provides better Thermal Insulation among them? As the general convention goes by, Monier being made from Concrete should be transferring more heat into the building interiors. Right?
Thanks for your query Pavanssi Yes, we deal with both Concrete Roof Tiles & Clay Roof Tiles. When we talk about thermal insulation, we can compare both are similar. There was no test conducted between this, but the comment is based on observations made. Both prevent heat because both clay tiles & concrete roof tiles are not fixed to the roof directly but installed on purlings and not sticking to the roof. So both allow air passage between the actual ceiling and flooring ( If used over RCC roof ). If used on a fabricated structure, only. Factor to be considered is the thermal insulation of material. In that case, clay may have a slight advantage, but no authentic technical study is made on that. The primary reason for considering concrete tile is the availability of concrete tile is multiple colours and patterns.
Thank you. So in your experience, what should be the minimum wall height if it is a Structured Truss Roofing without an RCC Slab Roof beneath it? I mean the case where Concrete Roof Tile will be the Direct Roofing without any False Ceiling.
We are having a farm house with single Mlore tiles (not double tiles). Lot of lizards come. So could u plz advice any false ceiling. It’s 2000 sqft. Pvc false ceiling is the solution?
We have same type of roofing but we are facing leakage in a particular area since long , I don't know if it is due to miscalculation during construction or any other reason , if it is due to miscalculation can it be rectified? Can I get consultation for the same
Hope you are having a fabricated roof with Mangalore Tiles, Leaks may be because of multiple reasons... If the leak started after a few years of constructing the roof a proper Maintainance can stop the leak. But if its there since the fabrication of the roof it may be because of the improper construction. The best option is the discuss with the same team who does the work. We don't do consultation for maintenance. Thanks,
Nope, standard mangalore pattern root tiles don’t have it. But in most of the cases except heavy cyclones the tiles won’t move. If you want to make it sure, there are tile available where you can screw to the puring or tie with a metal wire…
Sorry for the odd question. I want to go for tiles, but there are monkeys in the area. Will the tiles hold against jumping mo keys?If notHow do I protect my roof from those?
Thanks for asking the question even u though it is dumb, and it is definitely not a dumb question. The monkey issue is real, some tiles will have a hole to screw or tie it to the metal. But unfortunately most of the Mangalore Tiles don’t have this hole, few concrete roof tiles and imported roof tiles have this provision.
Hi Sir, I'm from Nagaland from northeast India, I'm planning to use Mangalore tiles for my roof. I've seen but never use it before. If I want to buy the tiles from your company will you provide me with technical drawings and advises?
Very good information... I live in Nagpur, Maharashtra and would like to cover around 50-60% of my terrace using metal framework... I am little confused as to which tile should I choose considering Nagpur faces extreme weather like 45° + temperature in summers and extreme rainfall with strong winds in rainy season... Please advise which tile should I select Mangalore Tile or Concrete tile? A little comparison in terms of Weather Protection, cost, durability, maintenance and look would be highly appreciated. Keep doing the good work.
Thanks for the compliment. Coming to the question, Standard Mangalore Roof Tiles is a good option for extreme weather. As the tiles are baked at more than 800° C the durability in high temperate is not a matter to be bothered. About the rainfall, as the tiles are porous ( an inherent property of clay ) there is a chance of getting algae and get patches on the roof tiles. Which will not adversely affect the durability or strength of the tile once it is dried. Here also you can trust Mangalore Roof Tiles. If this needs to already it is possible by high-pressure water cleaning. Maintainance: The broken tiles needed to be replaced periodically and at the same time the displaced tiles can fix back. Concrete Tiles are also a good option. But the color of the concrete tiles is not natural but pigmented. While the color of Mangalore tiles is natural and no questing of color fading. But water absorption is lesser for concrete tiles. The overall conclusion can be if you want great looking tiles for the first years you can choose Concrete Tiles. If you want a tile that ages gracefully you can choose Mangalore tiles.
@@Nuvocotto Thank you so much for your prompt response. Do you provide your services in Nagpur? And will that be economically viable option in terms of installation and maintenance? Do advise.
Very informative! While leak proofing the tile roof, is it possible to apply membranes like veltisun kinds of waterproofing sheets between double layer (roofing and ceiling) tile roofs?
Thanks for the support, The general lifespan of the roof tiles is more than 20 years if it is not broken by any external factors like branches of trees or coconut...!!!
I am having country tiled bungalow with specs 42*45 feet, can i convert it to Mangalore tiled roof.how much it will cost for the complete roof work house is nalukattu kerala tiles atleast give me how many tiles required and cost
The roof is tiled(double tile) with slope of 45 degree. In the room one side is brick wall. All three sides(west, South, East) are sliding windows with glass. It is very hot in summer and heat inside makes the room unusable for atleast 4 months a year after 11.30 am till 7.00 at night. How to reduce the heat transfer inside the room? Kindly suggest some heat insulation measures. Thank you
That is a detailed query. Few factors I can infer from your query is. 1. The glass sliding door is giving a greenhouse (keeping the heat inside not letting out) effect and making the room hot. A. Suggest you use a cooling film on the glass to let less heat enter the room. 2. Try to raise the ridges slightly above the tiles like a ridge tree. ( pim-cdn.bmigroup.com/sys-master-hybris-media/h94/hd3/8847882190878/Product-Color-Selector-Small-Desktop-Tablet-RidgeTree2jpg ) So that the hot air can escape through the gap in the ridge. 3. You can use the underlay sheets to reflect the heat. Please share your contact number, arrange a callback and give details about the above-said Roof System Components.
