That is absolutely revolutionary. Simplest way is always best, and a LOT of people are going to be building and converting vehicles to DC. They should all see this video!
@Jason loewenstein I agree completely with what you just said, I saw this and it was a lightbulb moment! , if it works for a single cylinder engine then it would work for a twin or 4 cylinder bike , and also for any car engine , quite simply this is better than most electric powered bikes and cars because it can use the vehicles gearing and also the major factor of being able to give a 2nd life to worn out combustion engine cars, bikes , anything else the entire world over , yes there are teething troubles to be ironed out but this guy to me just reinvented the wheel!
I have a lot of respect for countries that still give you freedom to experiment. In my country you couldn't circulate with such a heavily modified vehicle...
Many guys are converting the bikes to ebikes and they replaced the complete engine with the motor ,but the way you did it is owesume as with this approach a feel the gear shifting after the conversion is there ,which is owesume.
Interesting idea. Maybe if you used a 2 stoke engine, although I suppose you could do the same on a 4 stroke, and used either a belt drive or heavier chain running to a pulley or sprocket where the magneto would normally be on the outside of the engine case preferably using a straight shaft instead of a crankshaft through the cases to the primary drive, or on the (Hodaka) motors I'm thinking of to the cutch that is mounted directly to the right hand end of the crankshaft. You could make the electric motor pivot for belt or chains adjustment on top of the cover plate where the barrel would normally mount, or make some other type of adjuster run against the belt or chain. And with a 2 stroke either put oil in the lower case area under the cover plate / motor mount to lubricate the lefthand case bearing or simply remove the seals from the right hand case bearing. A drive belt would save having to lubricate a chain and would be cleaner to operate. If there would be any advantage in the flywheels on the standard crankshaft you might use it, but the crank pin may be a weak link and you could twist it out of alignment, so you could mount a flywheel on a straight shaft between the crank cases or add one later if need be.

Yamahas are always good for customisation because they make strong built bikes with well designed chasis. FZs can be easily customised because of its perfect handling and low center of gravity. Proud to be an Yamaha owner. When after 10 years petrol will be banned I will convert my FZ to electric and will use for another 10 years. Yamahas don't die. 😀
Probably no more vibration than when it was a piston engine given the fact that a single cylinder has a balance factor of around 50%. Nice idea. Put a proper machined shaft inplace of the crankshaft with a decent sprocket attached and it would be even better 👍
What is interesting about this mod is its simplicity. You will have a "new" electric bike in a heart bit. Think about restoring life and use for a motorcycle with a sized piston. I would take a apart the engine, remove and swap the Crankshaft with a straight rod, add the gear and a convenient flywheel to add momentum. Good luck folks.

Not bad for a start, especially having kept the gearbox! But you will absolutely need to lighten the bike, releasing unnecessary and heavy parts of the old engine, because of the big weight of your large battery (and you should not take a passenger); the most important is to think how to lubricate the timing chain (and other parts), which, in principle, is not designed to run the engine; but well lubricated, it could last a long time, because the speed of the bike is not high ...
Could this be done by replacing the starter motor with high RPM brushless? Then you could just remove the engine block, piston crank and balancer. I like the idea of keeping the gear box, but I don't think the timing chain is great for high tension and would be a pain to replace. Not to mention all the water and dirt getting inside the oil housing.
No. The gears are too small on a starter engine. You'd wear it out. You're better off making it a hybrid instead. You get 60km/h easy with a 50cc gy6. That's around 2500w. Bonus: If either of your engines dies, you could just use the other one until you get home to fix it. Easy peasy. I'm wainting for my long shaft right now. I'm also getting a right swing arm and another dampener for it. Jus so it looks better.
Great effort and innovate idea to be appreciated. However by keeping the gear box as-is, this need to be maintained with oil change also vehicle weight increases. But great effort with minimum changes.. Kudos..

For information sake i want to know if the RTO approves of such "converted" models without their approval or re-registration ??? Someone in the know of this please clarify.
This is a very good concept and approach to convert a gasoline engine to electric with minimal modifications. The only issue I am concerned about is the longevity and reliability of the system. The power transfer from motor to the crankshaft is done via the timing chain. Timing chain naturally isn't built for power transfer but to operate the valve timing, therefore not meant to be strong. The chain and the crank sprocket would wear out prematurely and would need dismantling of the parts to replace them in time. I would say that the chain and crank timing sprocket would need an upgrade to a stronger ones for the longevity of the system.
Cool machine, drilling and massage!! I like it!!! Anyway nice project hope the distribution chain and lower sprocket can handel all that power... Very good build! Cool video.....
I would like to share with you a wiring diagram I drew, based off of your technique... It is important to me to see what you think about using factory stator/magneto and wiring harness for recharging system... the drawing is for a bike with factory 3 phase charging system.
It's like a time bomb with a very short fuse I don't think it's going to require a recharge. That might depend on how he charges the battery. Electricity from an older inefficient coal power plant probably isn’t much better. I like the idea though
Dust will go inside the engine through timing chain and wear and tear the inside gearbox and lastly timing chain is for tappets it can't lift massive torque. ..because original power of engine go through piston to connting rod ....camshaft and rest to the respective gearbox. ....your idea is nice but it's not long lasting

Good idea but do not forget to put a cap on the chain for the oil in the motor bowl
Speed kese control hogi?
Very good Congratulations, well said electric bike 💯🤩🤩
the best thing is that he can use clutch and gears👍
Yes you are absolutely right bro

I would like to share with you a wiring diagram I drew, based off of your technique... It is important to me to see what you think about using factory stator/magneto and wiring harness for recharging system... the drawing is for a bike with factory 3 phase charging system.
You did really good in making such things. I almost see your most of the videos. 👍
Wow, great idea, do you get a good distance with the battery? Im thinking about doing this to a old 49cc scooter, nice and lite 👍.
It's like a time bomb with a very short fuse I don't think it's going to require a recharge.
Hi Iggy
Well done... a great new business opportunity...
Super great !!! The idea connecting motor with cam chaine. Thank you.
No it's not a good idea! Trust me!

bro its really appreciated.....
I've seen something different ....
brilliant idea 🙂🙂🙂...
Imagine if people had these instead in countries like this. The air would be sooo much cleaner.
Lets do it. He started. Who is next? Maybe me.
That might depend on how he charges the battery. Electricity from an older inefficient coal power plant probably isn’t much better. I like the idea though

Good Job Bro

Electric bike with gear wow amazing
How much would the retrofit kit cost??
Can the sprocket drive be covered so as to protect the drive and the gearbox from getting dirt ??
Dust will go inside the engine through timing chain and wear and tear the inside gearbox and lastly timing chain is for tappets it can't lift massive torque. ..because original power of engine go through piston to connting rod ....camshaft and rest to the respective gearbox. ....your idea is nice but it's not long lasting
Not to mention all the metal from his grinding.
Brilliant I love it! That is what I call Recycling to the 125th degree! I commend you on thinking outside the box! Now I want to go to the junk yard and do the same thing. How fast does it go? Thank you!

Great work brother...💐💐💐👍👍👍
How to Lubricate ?
It's good to see for entertainment.
Not for regular use.
Make a oil chamber with oil seal.
Then connect the motor shaft.
