The Ultimate 'VALERIE ('68 version)' ● Amy Winehouse live collection 2007-2011

Amy was a musican inspired and influenced by various different musical genres and eras - from jazz and hip-hop to ska and motown. Although she wasn't a big fan of contemporary (pop) music - seeing the majority of it as lacking depth, being rather superficial, musically and lyrically - there was one tune that stood out entirely: 'Valerie' - a soulful rock-number by the british indie-band The Zutons that came out in 2006, the year of Amy Winehouse's second full album release. In December 2006, Mark Ronson and Amy recorded their interpretations in the studio in New York: one beat-driven version and one retro-sounding version (that Amy prefered), which would later be released as the '68 version on her third album 'Lioness'.
From January 2007 onward, she included it in most of her gigs both with her european band and the dap-kings on US- and canadian soil.
