The Taurus G2S model was introduced in 2013. There is no way in hell it would look like this even if it was left under water for 10 years. This guys took a perfectly fine gun, chemically rusted it (which can be done by making a simple mixture of sal, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide) and then made this video.
How you are so right, but it’s not sal its salt but how would his skin not begin to irritate? The mixture burns through gloves if left touching hydrogen peroxide or the mixture in general!

I think this is a great video... you show people a whole lot more than just the process of restoring the rusted pistol, but also the process of completely taking it apart and putting it back together. A lot of new guys who are just getting into owning their own firearms wouldnt know the first thing about disassemly and reassembly. So this covers many different aspects.. from restoration and obviously cleaning the weapon to taking it apart and putting it back together. Im sure alot of newbies would appreciate this video since it does show alot. The only thing i feel it lacked was some audio explaining things to viewers. Other than that, i thought it was a good viddo showing this process... these pistols are pretty good and dont really jam up, ive persobslly never had a jamming issue with this weapon, but i would assume that maybe when he says jamming is normal for this, that hes referring to a restored rusted pistol.. i would expect it to jam here and there, especislly since it still doesnt look or seem like its at 100% with its parts.
Those pistols come with a breakdownsheet in their manuals. It's not usually that complicated. If one wants to own a deadly weapon, they must know how to break it down for cleaning. If the gun malfunctions, take it to a gunshmith or return it to the manufacturer for repairs. They are well prepared to do that. This particular gun is now garbage. If you bet you life on a gun, a rusted and rotted one isn't for you. I wonder what the condition is of the inside of the barrel? This video is interesting and entertaining, but know what anyone should do to have a reliable weapon in top condition. This particular Taurus costs about $250 to $300, tops. Cheap life insurance for a new one and it won't blow up in you hand, possibly. This articular pistol would make a good paperweight once it is dissabled.
I don't think you can order the 40 slides for the g2s not on shoptaurus anyway they might be able to call but back then the slide barrel and frame was all serialized
the PT111 platform is one of the few Taurus guns that are actually GOOD. I had a G3C that I put over 2000 rounds through and it only malfuntioned once (failure to feed), and that was when I was still breaking it in
Too bad about the big pits on the slide but hey you got the internal parts clean and its a painstaking job taking every part off especially those tiny short springs no fun at all. Great job you got it back in firing condition.
The ones I’ve cleaned never looked this terrible, most of the time I never have to go deep into the internals either. The amount of small pieces that go together amazes me of the craftsmanship that goes into these big or small devices, most of the time it’s a good scrub of the rail and barrel etc. This was an awesome restoration though

@Gabriel-q2p6m I've worked on several Glocks, Rugers, Colts, and many others. The Taurus is absolutely stamped out parts with rolled, bured edges. Worst out of the box gun I've seen. That's a FACT not opinion.
Your skills are REMARKABLE. Ive replaced the trigger with keep on tinkering so im familiar with a little of what you did but cleaning it all- absolutely fantastic. THANKS.
I guess someone REALLY got miffed with that Taurus and chunked it. But maybe if it can last with that abuse, cleaning it will keep it ticking. I hope so, I have the G2c/G3c 9mm and 40s&w- and find them comfortable and reliable.
Nice job I would’ve put the metal parts of the firing pin instead of that plastic orange one I have it in my G2 9 mm and it never jams at all it’s a nail driver shoots perfect every time, but nice video. Keep up the good work.
one of the reasons for this jamming is the thumb of the left hand being in a bad position, where it impedes the free movement of the weapon, note that when cycling it collides with the thumb, I am amazed that it did not get hurt
That, and the feeding ramp on these guns do have issues with certain hollow points tips. My G3C had a very rough feeding ramp from the box, polished it a bit and feeds almost all types of ammo, it does occasionally have issues with certain hollows though. More shots thru it needed. But his gun probably has a rough texture ramp feed issue.
Just a couple constructive safety tips as I enjoy your channel and want to see you continuing to make more. With the mag in the gun rotated it towards the camera, your head, a pistol in that condition could be prone to slam fire, and you don’t know if the slide release is going to hold with the slightest bump. Also, the Thumb cross Thumb is a good way to get your knuckles skinned and actually takes away from stability during shooting. Do Thumb over Thumb as if you’re pointing them towards the target.
I concur with some comments about replacing the slide. The fact that it jams near every shot tells me a new slide and some quality lubricants and if it still jams, it than becomes only a plinker and never used for self defense...
Pretty amazing stuff here. I had a sccy cpx 2 that was badly rusted on the outside to the point the slide was stuck shut in the forward position. Fortunately the internals were still ok and after 2 days of soaking in a tub of wd40 and a shit ton of scrubbing with a wire brush I got it in working order again. But, like other posters have eluded to once a gun is in this shape, even if you get it in working condition again it could never be fully trusted to be a reliable carry weapon again. It could be designated as an emergency backup or range toy. That said I can field strip weapons for cleaning but I wouldn't want to try and totally break down any weapon into every little microcosmic piece like this, I just don't have that ability but it's cool that you do have it. The only thing I respectfully disagree with you on is when you said these guns are known for jamming. The 2 Taurus handguns I have had, a g2c which I sold to a friend, and fuller size G3 which I have now, with 2 small exceptions, didn't have that problem. The g2c ran perfect with everything except steel case tulammo, and the g3 had an issue with hp's a couple times. By that i mean when wracking the slide on a mag full of hp's the first round would hang up on the feed ramp but after that ran it fine. Then again it has less than 500 rounds through it and will probably smooth out with more rounds through it. I noticed the sandy gritty sound when you wracked the slide before firing this weapon so I think more scrubbing in the slide rails might just fox the jamming problem
My carry is a cyan G2C, so I really dig this video. Mine is currently completely stripped though, so I can clean up a botched stippling job on the frame. The takedown lever was the hardest bit to get out on mine.
Very nice work, but I would like to add some notes: 1- The iron must be smooth on the inside and free of impurities. 2- A little oil should be applied to the areas where the iron rubs. This rifle will likely improve👍👍
I had a Taurus .40 back in the 1990s I think it was. Don't remember model but it looked sort of like a 1911 Colt. And yep,it did jam occasionally. The local gun shop only had flat nosed ammo so I blamed that, lol. It was good fun to shoot right up until I sold it along with the plastic case and the two extra clips. I was a little suprised I got the lion's share of my money back after buying it all new and using it for a few years and thousands of rounds, $400+ if I remember right. I did take good care of it though. Looking back I wish I had gone wherever needed to get round nosed acp ammo to see if it jammed less, just never did, I went with easy/convenient... Aaaaanyhow, GOOD VIDEO man!! I liked!
I'm thinking the reason for the jams might have been because of the condition of the inside of the magazine housing and the follower. There was probably a lot of drag that was causing the follower to cause the rounds to nosedive and not properly ride up the feed ramp but get caught on it instead.
Some guns I also noticed Taurus guns feed better with regular rounds. Rather than FMJ or Hollow points. Buy regular target .40 rounds or buy regular hollow points. NOT FMJ... I would google or ask your local gun dealer which ammo is best for your gun💯💯

These G2C or G3C pistols are good pistols. The jamming is for sure due to the damage it had and has. Still very good job cleaning it up. I would of trashed it to be honest. One thing to add. Make sure your support hand grip is correct. You almost got your thumb caught by the slide few times.

100% this guy stripped that slide and mag then soaked them in saltwater to get the pitting then reassembled it covered it in gunk n then put it back for a day or two. Those internals would have been welded into the slide if it sat assembled in water long enough to pit that badly. He is pulling clean springs out of it ffs. They would have disintegrated by that point.
It could be jamming because you installed the Magazine Spring backward. Also, that orange follower is binding. Swap out that magazine. She'll run perfect!
This was the pistol my father used. He was incredibly talented. He could wipe out 5 different targets in the blink of an eye. My pistol might be a bit… strange, but I know with practice I can do the same.
I own a similar model of taurus. Jamming is uncommon unless you're using cheap ammunition or not cleaning it. The reason you're experiencing the jamming is because you artificially created damage on this pistol. I'm fairly certain that model of taurus hasn't even been on the market long enough to have possibly been damaged to that extent without it being done intentionally. You can have a look around UA-cam and see for yourself. There's many reviews of these and everyone says the same thing. They're reliable after having fired thousands of rounds. Any firearm will jam if you don't properly maintain them. Clean and oil them regularly.
You think it jammed cus it was put together with no lubricant. it seemed kinda dry after it was put back together. But man what a labor of love. Great work.

Thank you for taking the time to do this! =)

That spring flying gave me flashbacks… 9 times out of 10 you’ll never find it again.
8 year old me dissembling my nerf gun
Wow That Was Awsome lmaoo, defiantly gonna be watching more!!
Amazing skills just shear perfection love your restoration work and to see you fire test at completion is true restoration perfection.
Very good job he got the firearm able to chamber and fire a round with expert gun smithing with a decommissioned firearm it shows how people can adapt twords ne things quickly.
it jammed a few times when you shot it because theres no oil in there
Amazing how well the stainless barrel held up
This is an amazing repair technique. Excuse me, but I'm at a level where I doubt whether they've been replaced.
This guy has this much guns , no wonder why he never gets robbed
Don't wrap your left thumb over the side of your right hand when shooting, it may be fine for shooting revolvers, but is very no-no for autos.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. He almost caught his thumb with that slide multiple times 😂
I like firearms. I also like restoring. Restoring a firearm? EPIC.
Caramba 😮 , o cara restaurou uma G2C, como se fosse um brinquedo 🧸 meu irmão 😯 parabéns pelo trabalho !
Parabéns kkkkk arma ficou dando pane não entende de arma mesmo kkkkk

Bro that’s a free pass to jail😂
Great job👍🏼
Recommend a ultrasonic cleaner.
muito bom amigo, bela restauração, seria interessante fazer um video deixando ela em otimas condiçoes !
Shut up
🤐
imagine how much patient this takes 💀💀💀
The barrel looks pretty brand new for that pistol to accumulate that much corrosion in such a short time. 🤔
Different metals
Certain metals rust slower or don't rust at all, for example chrome is nearly completely rust proof.
The taurus g2c barrel is a Matte Stainless steel same for the recoil spring it's just painted black for a sleek look
I have seen remnants from ww2 that looked better, rusting for decades...I would bet this is just some magic to make it look old
@@saltysalt7339 taurus are cheap guns and easy to rust i seen a torture test done on one the guy left it in a pool for 7 days and it was rusted almost as bad as this a taurus slide is made of carbon steel some old guns are made of wrought iron and thicker to withstand harsh conditions
Just like online it says the 1890's colt 1911 production was made of grade 4140 chromoly steel
Looking that metal up you see excellent resistance to corrosion compared to other metals but can still rust just slower
The M1 Carbine was made of standard steel, stainless steel, aluminum with a Parkerized finish
The M1 Garand was made up of stainless steel gas tube and a CM steel barrel which is chromium-molybdenum steels which is very good against high heat and corrosion and can withstand a long time before rusting but still eventually will rust. It just comes down to the steel quality taurus is making a handgun for civilian use the WW2 guns was too give top quality to are military for combat purposes
Talk about a distressed finish! Nice job
I love how you use what ever you have laying around as a punch, flat head screwdriver, Philips screwdriver, ice pick, 2x4 😆
If only you could get a cost friendly armorers tool set from Brownells….oh wait!
Tired of people saying the G series pistols don’t jam. Try to rack an open or flat faced hollow point. It’ll catch the feed ramp. Taurus has acknowledged the problem.
This Intentional "Rusting the Restoring" videos got so many people fooled thinking this guy is Saving these guns and then getting praised in the comments ..
“Restoring murder weapon dumped in the lake”
Or this is the internet, and it was intentionally rusted to create a "restoration" video for profit. It is literally a $250 firearm brand new, and this video has 1.4M views already. Not saying, just saying.
These G2C or G3C pistols are good pistols. The jamming is for sure due to the damage it had and has. Still very good job cleaning it up. I would of trashed it to be honest. One thing to add. Make sure your support hand grip is correct. You almost got your thumb caught by the slide few times.
Przepiękne jest ten pistolet odrestaurowany pozdrawiam twórcę tego filmiku serdecznie 👍👍👍👍👍

Its insane that guns are extremely simple and complicated at the same time
Jesus loves you believe, follow, and share God’s word for everlasting life
There is no Jesus and god
It's just a clean gun video my man idk where you see god or jesus from this video bro
Amém❤
With a replacement slide, and a new magazine this gun would be in very good condition. Nonetheless, a great! video. Thanks for sharing.
its difficult to get a new slide for the 40
Muito bom 👍
21:28 the moment we are been waiting for
100% this guy stripped that slide and mag then soaked them in saltwater to get the pitting then reassembled it covered it in gunk n then put it back for a day or two. Those internals would have been welded into the slide if it sat assembled in water long enough to pit that badly. He is pulling clean springs out of it ffs. They would have disintegrated by that point.
remember switching to your secondary weapon is always faster than restoring the first one
The gun was purposely rusted to make youtube money.
i'd say likely not for this one, just due to the corrosion to the metal would take a long time. it is also a generally common handgun.
Who cares, all the title said was restoring broken pistol. He did didn’t he who cares how it got broken. this man can really fix a gun.
And? He's making the money and I learned how to take down a Taurus without having one. Win win
I was entertained 😊
I cant actually believe how many bits there are to a small pistol! Incredible stuff
NOT THE RICE COOKER 😭😭😭
It could be jamming because you installed the Magazine Spring backward. Also, that orange follower is binding.
Swap out that magazine. She'll run perfect!
I had several G2's, and currently have a G3, and a 1911 .45 never had one jam with the recommended ammo...
1- There is a visible lack of lubrication
2- Wrong grip! Never cross your thumbs when shooting
dude knew what he was doing over here 19:32
This was the pistol my father used.
🎙"My gun came back from the dead, I call Lazarus."
Nah it isn’t a common problem with the jamming. Perhaps a little gun oil on the slide contact points if you didn’t already? Nice vid!
Definitely not normal for those pistols, but I surely respect the skills
Lube it up and it won’t jam as much. Great work
Finally: World of Guns IRL
I have to wonder how a gun that couldn't possibly be more than ten years old got into that state in the first place.
You think it jammed cus it was put together with no lubricant. it seemed kinda dry after it was put back together. But man what a labor of love. Great work.
that fire pin spring looked brand new
One of the best videos on the entire platform, regardless of subject matter. Outstanding.
