I heard this siren first during a neighborhood shooting. I lived in a complex about 1/8 mile from the neighborhood and the only reason I knew about it was because of the vibration of 20+ rumblers going off at the same time.
Sirens today are so loud, they are harmful to human hearing. They're made this way because cars are built sound-proof, to shut out the noise of other cars, so the sirens have to be loud enough for drivers to hear them. To me, it's mind-blowing how hostile towards humans cities are, to make them more comfortable for drivers. It's like we've forgotten that humans live in cities and have focused entirely on catering to traffic.
Wont be that way for much longer, we wont be driving cars soon, they'll be autonomous and emergency vehicles will be able to communicate with smart grids to path find
Man that's great, Always enjoy watching and hearing the sirens of the police and fire trucks and ambulances zoomin past, prayers to the ones they go to help ofc.
They probably still yield faster in other countries where they only have one type of siren (like European two-tone). You can give emergency services dozens of different sirens with different functions - if the drivers are ignorant.

Technology is so advanced. I'm wondering why we don't put an extra light right next to traffic signals. When emergency vehicles running code 3 approach it, it can start flashing or give some sort of indication that an emergency vehicle is coming from that direction
They dont need an extra light, they only need to all go RED. we all STOP. emergency vehicles can then filter themselves thru the red lights while everyone else is stopped.
@fhhsvnggbh Yeah but some people still try to beat reds. If they see their own light going red, they'll consider it a normal red and might blast through it without considering there might be an emergency vehicle.

It augments the siren tone in use. Problem with regular sirens is that, if you are in a car with the windows rolled up, the stereo on and the AC blowing, I can come up behind you with a 200 watt siren and you wont hear it. But you can feel the Rumbler.
Sirens in are about 110 to 120db.. in my country (central europe) they are 120db ... in clubs, we allow 95 - 98 (10 db increase is usually double as loud)
Cyberpunk 2077 police vehicles have sirens that I suspect are inspired by the rumbler.
When I worked EMS, we had them in some of our trucks.
I was looking for a siren used irl like the one in cyberpunk. I saw your comments in both this video and the cyberpunk one lol
That comment brought me here I love the idea of this also I love the sound of them in Cyberpunk

In terms of being aware, yes. In terms of moving over, yeah America is half as Europe.
