Beard is less beneficial than one might think in winter, since its excellent surface area collects atmospheric moisture and uses the superior heat conductivity of that moisture to jettison heat from one body to the cold vacuum of space.
In summer, on the other hand, it can provide excellent shade for the chin and absorb a lot of carcinogenic radiation into its already dead husk. Being an international chess master, you are basically the person out of everyone who should be most concerned about covert radioactive soviet activity, so I really hope you will reconsider.
Maybe it would decrease your perception of warmth if you have some awful shock and it responds by becoming more reflective, to shield you from the outside world.

Beard advice: You can shave your neck up to just below the jawline and it won't be so itchy. I think it also looks better. It's what I do. I also don't like to let it get very long. A 3 or 6 mm trim is about right. 3 is short but it means you don't need to trim as often. Once it gets longer than a centimeter or 1.5 cm-ish, it's time to trim. This keeps it less itchy.
Game eventually starts 2.50 in. Loads of waffle still to come.

As I understand it , at the highest level you are supposed to draw with black pieces and sometimes win with white. And since you played with a GM, its more than ok. Congrats again!!

5:00 reminds me of the need to move the white-squared bishop out before playing e3 in the Caro-Kann so as not to trap the bishop behind the pawn chain.

Eric, awhile back you mentioned a term for when a piece moves up to, but doesn't capture, the opponent's piece, but I can't find that in the normal chess terms libraries. Could you repeat that, please?
By the way, I saw such a move in the ChesMood course I'm taking but GM Grigoryan doesn't say it.

It's atypical of you offering a draw. Usually you'll keep going and decline draws even when you're down. And using the heat as an excuse? You're opponent is in the same room...

The reason your beard got itchy and uncomfortable is because you didn't let it grow long enough. Next time give it a couple more weeks and the itchyness should subside and you'll be looking like a gigachad for real
