    Hey Angela! Just passing by on MBA Monday. Wanted to say thank you for all the helpful tips that you share here on UA-cam and also for your nothing short of inspirational content with the Forte Foundation! (I will always remember your analogy with the aventine keyhole). Your words felt like a light in the dark tunnel of this longgg application process and they made a bigger difference for me than I can properly express. I got admitted to Booth Round 2 this year and recently got admitted to HBS from the Round 2 waitlist!
    All the best for this next round of application cycles!

    My question is 'How to get into Harvard business school after graduating high school?
    Should we have to take GMAT as undergrads ?
    Cuz I've only been seeing people talk about those student who're already in Uni and trying to get into HBS.

    • @CareerProtocol
      @CareerProtocol  2 роки тому +2

      Hey ByFu! Don't worry, You're not behind. Most people do not begin to apply to HBS until 3-4 years after college. You can apply at the end of college for the deferred program, but that admissions cycle is way more competitive and difficult. Most people aren't ready to present a compelling profile to HBS until they've worked as a professional for a few years. If you've ot Harvard on the brain, just follow the tips in this video: learn, care, be kind, and make a difference wherever you can and then you will be in a good position to apply when the time comes.

    Is work experience a mandate for the Harvard MBA?

    • @CareerProtocol
      @CareerProtocol  Рік тому +1

      Almost certainly. While it is possible to do a deferred application (look up Harvard 2+2!), Harvard MBA students will usually have around 3-7 years experience in the field before they arrive on campus! 🙂

    does Harvard take into account high school GPA for an MBA? Or the university you go to?

    • @CareerProtocol
      @CareerProtocol  2 роки тому +2

      University, yes. High school GPA, usually not unless there is a problem with your college GPA, a very good story for why, and you can point to high school as a mitigating datapoint. But these cases are quite rare. They are mostly concerned with your life once you hit 18 years of age and beyond.

      @@CareerProtocol What do you mean by the university? Does it have to be Ivy league/Russel group etc?

    • @CareerProtocol
      @CareerProtocol  2 роки тому +1

      @@verannica5187 I just answered your question. Does HBS take your university into account? The answer is yes, of course they do. It doesn't have to be an ivy. A quick google will answer this question for you: www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/class-profile/Pages/undergraduate-institutions.aspx

    Hey, so I am in my second semester of college. I still have 3-4 years before I graduate. What should I do in the mean time to make my application stand out/grow my portfolio in this time? Would it be better to try to start a business? Or get like a sales job somewhere for references? I do have some references in mind already. One is my highschool teacher who I am now doing consulting for. I've already tried a few side businesses as well. For GPA, do they count only your last years GPA or your whole 4 years? The reason I ask this is because in the first semester I didn't know how to study and ended with C's and D's. This semester I am on track to get A's and B's. As I refine my studying I will probably start getting straight A's or at least that's what I hope. I don't know what GPA that is because I am from canada and our GPA is out of 10 for some reason. Should I join clubs, or should I try to do stuff outside of school? I wanted to be a Real Estate agent instead of going to college. Should I still get my real estate license to boost my portfolio or does that even matter? I want to take in all the advice I can so I can get in. That's one thing I didn't do in highschool. I got extremely lucky to go into my school because I never passed algebra and I went through a much longer process and interviews to get into school here. I ended up teaching myself all of algebra and Calculus in the span of a month or two. When just a year ago I could barely do grade 10 math. The reason why I got into University without math was because I had a very high average I just couldn't do math, and I had many extracurriculars that I think made up for it. Would I be able to use that as a story for my essay or something? Any advice would be great. Thank you. (Sorry for the long message)

    • @CareerProtocol
      @CareerProtocol  5 місяців тому

      Most important thing is to follow your passions. Pick the handful of things that matter most to you and then push them to excellence. It could be starting a business, volunteering, joining clubs, or anything that is important to you. They count your whole GPA and you will need to show that you can do math, so that would also be a good thing to work on. Most MBAs have a lot of quantitative courses. Good luck!!

    How unusual is it for law students to apply to for a Harvard MBA after finishing law school

    • @CareerProtocol
      @CareerProtocol  Рік тому +2

      Pretty unusual and not super favorable, especially if you haven't had any real work experience between undergrad and law school. Lawyers tend to struggle in MBA admissions because early law careers do not give you a lot of opportunity to develop the kinds of skills that make you valuable in an MBA classroom - people and process management, analysis, and executive of fundamental business operations. If you think you want a career in business, my advice would be to try to recruit for one now! Many firms that hire MBAs also hire JDs. Good luck!!

    Actually I would disagree that Harvard has the best business school. Stanford and Wharton are the notch better than Harvard.
    Also overall nearly in every single ranking MIT beats Harvard and has been doing it for many years.

    • @CareerProtocol
      @CareerProtocol  2 роки тому +4

      Check out our video on rankings: ua-cam.com/video/LiX_qtMP9c4/v-deo.html We tend to think rankings are very unreliable. I would argue the best gauge of school reputation (where the rubber really meets the road) is yield - what % of students accepted matriculate. In this dimension, Harvard is in a class by itself, walloping even Stanford. And in 15 years of helping people get into business school, I have literally NEVER seen someone choose MIT or Wharton over Harvard. But in the end, there is no objective rank and for most people it doesn't matter. Everyone has their own unique fit and it's frequently not Harvard.
