I used to tip my regular food delivery guy very well and we had short bonding talks. Well last year shit went pretty bad and I couldn't afford to tip him that much and eventually I stopped ordering. I ran into him last month. He said he thought I moved. I told him shit just wasn't great for a while. He said he understood, and gave me a joint and told me to just do what I can. I'm a 35 year old man. It took all the energy in my being for me not to cry like a baby. Awesome dude!

You see those “man tips $2,000” feel good stories.

We never were in the first place. Life is a game and you will make it or not depending on how you play it. People only "care" for you when they have to and will only do certain things IF they have to. If not, their behavior does not change and they could give a rat's ass about you. The way to play the game is to become the best in whatever you want to do, find a good organization and create a strong team of co-dependence and self-interest. Do not spread yourself out unless you really have to. You will only fuck up your mentality and identity having to change all the time and going in different directions. Go all-in for 1 thing, it's always the best thing.

I did the math and it basically costs the same to heat or cool a home, light a room, have cable or netflix, and pay rent or property taxes for both singles and couples, but a couple potentially has 2 incomes, which means many singles are already paying more for everything, that couples share. And even when things do cost couples more like increased energy consumption, the rate rarely doubles. Singles don't benefit from joint tax filing, or family plans. Couples can share nearly everything from the couch they sit on to the pots and pans in the kitchen. But I'm frequently told that we have to help families...Take that sob story elsewhere. Just because couples didn't think to buy birth control with all the money they saved not being single, dosen't obligate me to subsidize their life. I'm not saying don't help the less fortunate but politicians can quit trying to pull on my heart strings with talk of struggling families. It's not just families who are struggling...maybe just refer to us all as struggling Americans, that seems more accurate 🤔

Given the nature of the comments, I feel it necessary to add that I do not teach in the US and that I teach kids from very poor areas, most of whom have terrible families. I am, however, also aware that much of the US faces the same plague of terrible families, and that more often than not it falls onto us teachers to do the parenting that the parents should be doing, and that it was to that which I was referring. "Can't go to bars or clubs" - why? It might be just as well -- meeting people when there's alcohol involved is often not a good thing. (Booze can make people flaky.) BUT I have met a few cool people in, say, clubs where there is live music -- if you maybe chat with someone that's THERE because they actually LIKE THE MUSIC as opposed to "being there because it's a club/because they want to look cool/etc." I'm a single jazz fan guy and if I go to this club to hear some music yet if I don't "meet anyone," I can say to myself, "Hey, at least I heard a good band tonight." Hey, even if you DON'T "meet someone" maybe ya heard some cool sounds, dig?

As a nurse I can’t stand hearing the “we’re in this together”. Cause that comes from people who get to work from home nice and cozy, aren’t dealing with the actual cons of this health crisis. Like sorry I don’t get to work from my couch, my life is still going on just a more hellish version at work.

I don't mind when people say this to get everyone to mask up, social distance and make sacrifice because in that sense we are in this together because if you don't wear a mask you endanger me regardless. So I don't agree with Maher here we are all in this together to a certain degree. Your behavior affects me. However when you are using this phrase in the way of economics and exposure we are not all in this together some people face greater risk because of what they do.

Why am I supposed to drive for stupid basketball tournaments or soccer tournaments and pay for fucking hotels for this bullshit. When I was a kid I worked a paper route and bought a glove and joined the local little league where all of the games were played in our town and rode a bike to the games. My parents came when they had time and no god damned money shelled out for out of town bullshit. Kids today are money pits for activities that by in large they'll never make a living at it sports wise!!! And many of them whine and gripe and give you grief for years on end; not all but how does one know how a kid will act after you have them.

for 3 months per child. All I heard at work was it's about the family. When my nephew graduated HS, I could not get the whole day off. I had to work until 1 pm. Yes, it's about THEIR FAMILIES, not mine.

I also want to say, caring for a newborn is damn hard work. You don’t get to go home and relax or get a full nights sleep. I’m all for parents’ time being compensated.
