    Really appreciate your simple, straightforward approach to describing and SHOWING the Drop's strengths and limitations. It looks and sounds like the perfect solution for me. ~ So many songs are in the key of E. Our lead vocalist can knock Smokey Robinson tunes out of the park....but Eb is his sweet spot. Sure, I can transpose to Eb or D. But every 4 string bass player knows what it's like to "run out of neck", on the low end, when you have to move your bass lines from the key of E to Eb or D.~ Hey thanks again for your video!

    Liked! Don’t forgot that Black Velvet is also in Eb. 👍😊

    Man this is great! I am most definitely going to purchase one of these bad boys. I already have a hipshot drop tuner on my Fender bass that I'll probably now remove after watching this. I was about to spend a few hundred bucks installing those hipshots on my other 3 basses but forget that now lol

      This pedal works great if you're dropping a 1/2 to whole step regularly. Further than that and your mileage may vary but overall a HUGE time saver!

    How is the tracking on the fast parts?

    Mike, where would you or where do you put this in your signal chain? I'm picking mine up today. My chain is a TCE Polytune, TCE Forcefield compressor and an MXR M80. In that order. Yes, I play bass.

      I'm guessing the pitch shifter goes before everything

      Sorry for the delayed response. This would go in front of your other effects processors. All of the guys that use it for guitar and myself using it on bass put this first in line. Thanks for watching!

      You can put these after a compressor especially if you're slamming your signal, will give the drop a more consistent signal to work with too.

    Hello ! I'm from Brazil and I have a question. My pedal after a year began to roll over when it was depressed, missing the clear notes on the bass. Do you know if it has any kind of calibration that can be done or any solution to my problem?

    That's what I discovered the other day when I was using this pedal. I've been using it at two whole steps down and my low string sounds like it's taking a complete dump

    My band plays in drop f#... yes i know its low but i have a 5 string and not thick enough strings, does this one work well if my bass is tuned to drop Bb??

    • @m16gunslinger77
      @m16gunslinger77 5 років тому

      It starts doing some weird things after a half step on the B string, more so after a step and a half. It did OK on mine in Bb and may be ok on yours but it will depend on your pickups/preamps. You may want to try your bass on one if someone else has one to see if it starts phasing the notes or if it sounds passable. If you add a lot of effects or distortion it will probably be unnoticed by the audience.

      @@m16gunslinger77 do you think a darkglass pedal is enough to "mask" the sound (thanks for the quick response)

    • @highlandnorthmusic1304
      @highlandnorthmusic1304  5 років тому

      @@knocky3884 sorry for the delayed response. We have been busy on several concerts and events. The Darkglass could probably mask some of it but it depends. Some parameters may amplify the effect. I would need to see if I can get a DarkGlass to test.

      Dark lord strings! The f# is .175. Warwick made them for a 35 inch neck but handle ok on my mex 2012 p bass with quarter pounders 3 in it. I bought 7 stew. costly, but a very good investement!

      I got this because I love playing Motown, and it's a lot of Eb tuning. This saves A LOT of time! -Mike

    I’m using a Morpheus drop tune pedal and it sounds like crap and doesn’t work with my bass so this Digitech drop tune pedal would be the way to go? Oh yeah I gotta tune all the way down to f# if I want to play some Deftones I’m wondering if I should get this pedal

    • @highlandnorthmusic1304
      @highlandnorthmusic1304  5 років тому

      Much further than a whole step or whole step and a half down and you get some phasing issues, but if you're using a lot of effects it may be unnoticed. Your mileage may vary there. I know that I use it a lot for a half to a whole and a half step down and don't hear a difference in the mix, especially live.

  • @canadianbassist-garrettont7368

    On a 4 string tuning E standard Can it do Db or D standard with out sounding off? Im ever wondering if it could do B tuning on a 4 string?

    • @m16gunslinger77
      @m16gunslinger77 Рік тому

      on a 4 string D isn't bad. Db you may start hearing some phasing depending on your processing/amp but B is pushing it.

  • @megwell
    @megwell 2 роки тому

    I've noticed it works well for going down a half step. But trying to avoid bringing my 5 string I don't think it does as well dropping 5 semitones to get the B E A D unfortunately.

    • @m16gunslinger77
      @m16gunslinger77 Рік тому

      yeah it does not do past about 3 semitones depending on your bass. I've tested on a few and a step and a half is where it really starts sounding unnatural
