Jackie Earl Haley originally auditioned for the role of Glenn in the original Nightmare. He needed a ride to the audition, and his friend ended up driving him there, and hanging around waiting while Jackie auditioned. The producers liked his friends look, so, his friend, Johnny Depp, was given the role instead...
darthdevious No, no. I meant the fact that it happened. That they would do that to someone. That is fucking bullshit. It doesn't help that I'm not a Depp fan, but overall I just think it's terrible. Hey, here's a kid that worked really hard for his role. Let's hire his friend.
When I saw that scene in the remake, I laughed because of how cheesy and fake it looked. SCREAMED CGI. The effect in the original looked believable and like something in an actual dream.
the chick who played Nancy was absolutely terrible. biggest part why I hated this movie. she was soooooo boring. plus all the other 30 year olds they try to pass off as high schoolers
She didn't have the most material to work with. Nancy in this movie isn't given much range to form a defined personality since they make her troubled and scared from the very start of the film. In the other Nightmare movies the leading characters of Nancy, Jesse, Kristen, and (my favorite) Alice all had a good chunk of screentime dedicated to showing them interacting with their family and/or friend group in a manner that gets across their personality.
Long before this movie existed, I saw a fan-made trailer for a reboot concept. They had altered Freddie's look to further push the fire angle, adding a smoldering effect to his burns and making the blades of his glove heated to an orange glow. There was a really cool shot where he flicked his fingers and the blades gave off sparks and embers. The whole concept was amazing and I always felt like that was the sort of creative direction that Freddy should have gone in. This movie tried to be realistic and explain itself, rather than push the fantastical elements to even further limits, which I feel much better suits a monster that exists in dreams.
Gameplay and Talk The movie went out of its way to tell the audience that he was intentionally waking the victims up so he could do whatever he wanted. Which in my opinion is much more interesting.
This one of the first movies where I started to understand just how important practical effects are when making a horror movie truly scary. There was a scene in this movie where Freddy pushes through a wall and it was total CGI and really took me out of that movie experience.
TRUE SWOLDIER not always scarier but you know its physically there like it always bothers me when you have a group of people that are meant to be looking at the same thing but the actors are looking all different directions because its a green screen is bullshit I dont know how much practical make up Jackie had on , but I'm sure they CGed over it the coolest scene in this movie is when Nancy & Quentin are in the store & the boiler room & store isle interchange , that's pretty cool but its also CGI , I'm in the mindset that if your going to use CGI use it like avatar show us spectacular things that where never seen , not a burn victims face , the old Freddy looked much better & also had much better facial expression ( but I suppose the makers of this movie could say its more realistic burn scars & his facial expression would be suppressed with scars)
Stoner Yoda937 damn good points. I like your avatar point. They shouldn't just use CGI for the sake of time and budget if it can be made in camera. Save it for the out of this world, or supernatural things that can't be practically made.
You know what I think the saddest part of this is? Jacie Earle Haley actually did a pretty good performance as Freddy, I just wish he could have had better material to work with because I would have liked to see more of him.
Englund's Freddy was more akin to a likable asshole in the end, I know new line got pissed that everyone was rooting for Freddy to kill the kids in the later sequels, But I think it's great to have a monster like that. The only other one I can think of that's like that is the one in "Funny Man".
ALhashimy exactly, the loss of their children would severely screw up the adults, especially if they would ever find out it was somehow a man they murdered many years ago for torturing said children.
I had thought of a way to do that, and keep Wes Craven's original happy ending. He is mad they got him killed, he is innocent. But, he cannot truly kill the kids. Even now. So when he kills a kid, in the real world they go into a seemingly permanent coma. When Nancy finally uncovers the truth, and gets the truth out about Freddy, the 'curse' lifts. And the ones in comas wake up
Ah, here we go, the shitty remakes. Seriously, what is it with these reboots and absolutely destroying their title characters by overexplaining their pasts and trying to make them sympathetic?
They didn't make Freddy sympathetic in this one, that was just to trick the characters and the audience. He was always as evil and vile as he had ever been.
Blisterdude123 Jason's back story actually was sympathetic, but it has always been that way. None of the movies actually expand upon that though. If they did Jason could be changed from a psychopathic murderer to maybe a psychopathic anti-hero... Or at least that's what I tell myself because I hate the fact that he's a killer
They were trying to a pull a "The Ring" and trick the audience into thinking he's a good ghost who needed helped. Trouble is, it's fucking Freddy Krueger. Even if by some miracle you *didn't* know anything about him, the second he starts cutting people up with A GLOVE MADE OF KNIVES, you're gonna lose any willingness to believe the guy's just misunderstood. Innocent people don't own knife gloves. Except cosplayers of obscure anime villains, but even then it's 50/50. So the movie becomes a whole tedious exercise in wasting everyone's time
Blisterdude123 And what's with people complaining about remakes being different than originals. Wtf would be the point if it was exactly the same with different actors? Oh wait then people would still complain about the villain actor being a little different. Srsly if you don't want anything new or instantly hate something different like a grumpy old man then don't even watch it and stick to the originals. Remakes aren't the only one who suffer such complaints but new ideas for a change too. For instance friday the 13th part 9 and 10. Sure they were bad but not as bad as people say... except part 9... But did people really want to see Jason kill teenagers fucking and smoking weed in a camp next to lake again?
About Freddy's medical knowledge: the information could have been obtained during his numerous kills. Attack someone, his heart stops, and "what a surprise!" he's still alive and here with Freddy in the dream world...at least for a few more minutes. After a couple of kills, he should notice the pattern. And at least one of victims probably stayed awake for so long he slipped into a coma.
An alternate version of the opening credits has Krueger flatlining so I think the explanation was implied. that he overheard it while he was in a coma as a John Doe burn victim. Because even if you are asleep your brain still hears things that's why you can be Jared awake buy a sudden noise and that even your brain will adjust certain aspects of your dreams with background noise.
Jackie Earle Haley is a phenomenal actor I agree but the direction and script is what held him back. This movie was trash in that regard. If this had a stronger writer and director it would have been a great reboot
17:46 "how do you know he did it?" Because 1. There were claw marks on the back, what, you tripped? Yeah right And 2. Usually 5 year olds don't imagine being molested and make that up
I disegree 1. Yes there where clow marks but how could they know it was freddy without an investigation 2. True but there 5, 5 year olds can come up with some crazy shit if they wanted to(mybe its a bite of an unrealistic point im making so please let me know)
I was fine with them humanizing freedy cause in the end he was still the monster. The point of some child molesters is that they can shown off to be kind and gentle but really are monsters.
Plus, it was part of the teens figuring out who Freddy was. They question whether F.K. did anything, and as they start to remember, they do remember the kind man who played games with them. And then...boom. He was actually a bad guy. Just like real life.
They put a little too much emphasis on the child molester part imo.....Like we get it. It has always been implied but it's pushed way to far in this movie.
@@danielgarciajr.6115 I just found it pretty generic and forgettable. The jokes don’t work because this Freddy is too serious. I didn’t like his makeup. The cgi is not good, and I’m not one to really harp on things like this. And I didn’t like the Freddy is a child molester thing. I think it was implied in the original film but i felt like wasn’t being a child killer enough? It just felt very unnecessary. It didn’t improve on the original or bring anything really new, IMO. But no hate to people who did enjoy it. Everyone’s taste is different.
Except, the designs for the ninja turtles work. I don't care what anyone says - they're SUPPOSED to be "ugly mutant freaks". That's what people refer them to as in the original show. The designs of the TMNT in the new movies are fine, just a bit big and bulky. I don't get what people complain about with it.
4:50 Reminds me of the time my wife nodded off during our wedding vows and fell asleep during our officiant's pronouncement of marriage...good times. HAHAHAHA.
I felt that Jackie's depiction was far more terrifying and imposing than Robert's. Rob went for a classic scream appeal, kind of a crazy, mocking, and comedic fear, where as Jackie just went for straight up terror. I struggle to even call it a slasher remake because they went far left towards a more straight up horror approach.
Jackie's Freddy is generic the voice is a redo of watchmen and his character is to flat and drab he isn't interesting to watch thats the problem with this Freddy.
Having just watched this, the only thing I think the only thing that it did better than the original is when the first guy says “oh, god” and Freddy goes, “No, just me...” that line creeped me the f out but the original is better in everything else
Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994) was my favorite because it brought the actors from the previous movies being haunted by Freddy in the real world on the movie set. This is something I've never seen in a movie franchise before, making it original in concept. That and (IMO) no one can/will play Freddy like Robert Englund did.
"Now, be strong. I need you to concentrate and try to remember, please.. Was there any good loot down there. ?" Lmaoo dude, you made my day. SUBSCRIBED!

Still there is a plac ein my heart for this movie, and some of the scenes like the blood floor in the dream house i still love
@@helixmoore7636 Not really. I think that his writing wasn't that bad, but the actor was fantastic. He was definitely creepier than the OG freddy, but I do think that better writing for freddy could make this game better. Also, most of the teen actors sucked.
Honestly, rewatching the original, there are several problems I actually had with it as well. While Nancy is a lot more interesting as a character in that than in the remake, I found her a bit too hammy, especially near the end where she tried to Home Alone the situation. You talk about neutering Freddy in this one, but I think making him about as effective as Joe Pesci against an 8 year old boy near the climax of the film did a lot to make him significantly less threatening in the original. I think both the original and the remake have merits and drawbacks, and that the remake is SEVERELY over-hated. It's not as good as the original, but honestly, would anything have matched up? I doubt it, nostalgia is too damn strong for its own good.
@@fightingmedialounge519 I'm not saying *I* think any remake could match the original, I'm saying I think that *fans* of the original wouldn't have accepted a remake *because* of their attachment to the original.
@@occultnightingale1106 1 of the problems is the movie doesn't make any sense. Freddy didn't work at or kill people in a boiler room, why is that there? He didn't have a glove (He had the gardening tool) Why does he have a glove? He wasn't a killer, so why does he kill instead of doing what he used to do to them? (The entire concept of the character doesn't make sense anymore) Why does Nancy see her friend in a bodybag? She did in the original because she actually saw her friend in a bodybag before her dream sequences. The Nancy actress doesn't care at all (And she even stated it was phoned in performance) The over use of CGI and jumpscares. They bring up this micro-naps stuff then just use crappy lazy jump scares besides the 1 badass scene in the store. (That kind of stuff should have been the movie) They made the entire plot filler. Its a 26 year old legendary character (By 2010)... We know he is a badguy, kids know he is a badguy lol Unless he was actually going to be innocent it was a pointless plot. If they wanted to subvert expectations, Kill off the character played by the actress who doesn't care (Nancy) then have the blonde chick take the lead. If you want to wow people with Visuals use them where your strengths lie (The transitions from Dream/Real world) Like when the blonde fell asleep in class, or Nancy was in the Grocery store. Not something easy to replicate like the spandex wall trick that Freddy pops through. If you are going to use an Iconic character... Have him still make sense. Putting his crimes besides murder out in the open instead of being subtext like the original is fine.... But if you go into so much detail on how he did it, have the character represent that accordingly. Like have that gardening tool attached to the back of his hand, No boiler room only a basement, being extremely pervy to all his victims who are dreaming and torture instead of kill. And most importantly don't waste your audiences time with a pointless plot. Off the top my head could have had one of the characters have a child sibling that was dreaming of Freddy and the older kids were freaking out trying to do something before Freddy did. Anything that resembled a real story arc instead of "Badguy is Bad." It was a very poorly done movie. Not even just as a remake, but as its own thing. That is the big problem. In that first paragraph Everything I listed could be a problem for a brand new Franchise as well. Even when I mentioned "He is Iconic we know he is bad" If you have a character killing people while cracking jokes and having fun... It's not really a mystery they are the bad guy. It's just that much more insulting because how famous the character already is. Sorry for writing you a book.
@@SLiMmcl jesus dude, that sure is a fucking book. I'm not contesting that it's a poorly made movie, but I think it gets a lot of hate that it doesn't deserve solely because of how the original is so well-loved. Sure, it's got problems, but there are a lot of bad movies that are still a pretty decent watch, and I think this movie falls into that category. Even though the Nancy actress didn't care, Jackie Earl Haley was having a blast. He really carried the movie for me.
@@occultnightingale1106 I think the thing that sucks about JEH version of Freddy isn't even his fault. I think the make up gave him a Botox effect, he can't really express his face So I just see a cat with Mange lol. I agree I think Him and the blonde chick were the only 2 that gave a performance like they gave a shit about the film. Its so hard for 2 people to carry a cavalcade of fuck ups that make up an entire cast and crew.
I learned about the brain functioning for 7 minutes thing in 7th grade (We were learning about the nervous system and brain things like that) and since this is a reboot with a more recent Freddy (He didn't die in the 60's) I figured it wasn't that far fetched if he learned it some point in life.
Dude, he's already tortured an entire class worth of people through sleep deprivation before the movie has started. Is it so hard to believe he didn't experiment a bit and figure out all that sleep trivia? Like he knows when one of his victim's heart has stopped so why wouldn't he notice them still kicking around in the dream world for a solid seven minutes after the fact?
If they had expanded on the original concept of each of the children having an older sibling that was Freddie’s victim. (As in Nancy, Glen, Rod, Tina, and even the children from dream warriors had older siblings killed by Freddy.) it would definitely have made way more sense that these children wouldn’t remember him because they weren’t his victims and their parents probably wouldn’t tell them about the murders of their siblings. The murder mystery thing would also be better because the kids would have no idea what happened to their older siblings.
lol the makeup artist they had working on that set did a lousy job in 1988 it looked better cause he actually looked like he wasburned todeath and it was latex based which at the time and still does look pretty good
justin tahair disagree, the original makeup isn’t as realistic as the reboot makeup. The reboot makeup actually looked like a burn victim, but it wasn’t good for the character.
They need to do a Freddy vs Michael Meyers and a Jason vs Michael Meyers. And an all three against all three. Then throw in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre killer and the freaks from The Hills Have Eyes. Total slasher thrill. BUT, that Freddy needs to be Robert Englund. Come to think of it, the creature from Jeepers Creepers should make an appearance in there too. He looks nearly like Freddy anyway.
If Freddy was a pedo then why did he not turn them into kids again and have fun rather than kill them? I think that would have been more sick but it is logical. I think they should have at least had one scene with him doing it and made that the climax of the movie.
Riiiight, I'm thinking Freddy(TM) got clued in after killing his first few victims. I mean, if you are an undead dream demon that haunts your victims dreams/brain, then you would eventually notice that even after you ripped someone's heart out they stayed alive a little longer. Eventually coming to the average of 7 minutes. - Actual Lee
How did Freddy know about how the brain stay alive after heart stops? He's a killer who prob ripped some hearts out of some chests and he lives on peoples minds.. Guess what.
I think Freddy gained the neuro-science knowledge because the teens were reading up on it. He has a supernatural knowledge to immediately know what they think and do in the waking world through it reflecting in their dreams, so their knowledge instantly became his knowledge once they entered any type of dream state after learning it.
This new Freddy talks too much. Too many jump scares and Freddy isn't scary because he is dull and not as sick and perverted like the original. I love the actor, hated this movie.
i will say one thing that blond haired girl and jackie were the only ones that seemd like they even gave a shit to even be in this film lol i think roony wasonly there to cashin a pay check
Umm..... Unlike the original movies Freddy is confirmed a pedophile.. Plus he goes out of his way to sexually torture Nancy at the end What part of him in this movie is less perverted? The dude literally licks her face and does the whole your body and mouth says bit.
@@supdude1498 Is seems far more perverted and messed up when the person doing it is laughing and having fun while doing the terrible things. Doing that makes the person doing it seem inhuman.
I, to this day, always hold in my mind that the 2010 remake was made by The Asylum & that it's not real...Freddy, please don't change my mind in a nightmare
Unpopular opinion i actually do enjoy this film, not as good as the original but i do think Jackie Earl played a really good freddy and that's the main reason i like this film ( im typing this before watching and will still like this movie after)
a Remake is usually a reboot rather than a 100% remake. I liked the gamecube remake of Resident Evil because it didnt say "oh yeah Resident evil 2 and 3 dont exist anymore", although all the spinoffs do try to imply that. That is more a problem with continuity in the spinoffs. Im actually waiting for the Friday the 13th Remake just to fill things out. I think it was a missed opportunity in this film to make Alternate-Freddy into an innocent made who became a monster. Instead the viewers just got played with.
I love the original to pieces, but the blow-up doll mom through the window was terrible looking. Both that ending and this one, however, are equally fake as shit. I'll give points to the original for at least having the neat car and all of Nancy friends and her screaming inside it as it drives off with them. The remake gets a point for doing something kinda neat with a mirror, but it's not really scary and it was predictable too.
@Dustin the Goosebumps fan What are you talking about? Dream master and New nightmare are better than the original. And there’s a lot of people who prefer dream warriors over the original. Why are you talking about smoking crack?
Looking back, i didn't hate it, wasn't a favorite of mine but i still enjoyed it. They made Freddy look as " creepy" as a character with that backstory could be imagined to look like. I agree the jokes were bad, some stuff didn't make sense but it was at least a bit scary

kurvos But compared to the others in the movie, she's the only one that exerted any believable emotion. When I first saw this I thought she was going to be the main character. When she got killed and the other girl took over, the movie just took a huge dive in acting quality for me. I got really bored.
***** I agree with you on that. When I saw the movie, I at least gave a bit of a shit for her, because she seemed to be... slightly above decent. As a dead by daylight player the scene where Freddy is going in and out of dream phase I think it’s really cool and shows how terrifying it is to know that you’re screwed lol
First, it's either this movie or Halloween 2 (2009) that has to be the worst horror movie/remake of all time. How come there didn't show Freddy getting the dream-demons I mean that's what is power comes from. At the time I thought Katie Cassidy's character was the main character that was because I haven't seen the first one in a while at the time. I did like the Micronaps stuff. Also did you know Robert Englund wanted to do the remake but the producers and everyone didn't even ask him to be in the movie so they made up an excuse saying 'he didn't want to be in it'.
As much as I would've loved to see more Englund, you can't blame them for not taking him. Englund is the ORIGINAL Freddy. The whole point of the remake is to reinvent the original.
I unironically love this movie, even though I am a huge fan of the original slasher films. It's just fun, and I like the creepy Freddy with his quiet menacing voice.
Um Decker you get an orange jumpsuit in jail and street clothes in prison. Unfortunately I’ve been to jail a couple of times. Thankfully not prison since I didn’t do anything serious.
I am curious about Kevin Bacon playing Freddy he's a good character actor and isn't a n00b to the horror genre. Robert actually really likes the idea of Kevin being the next Freddy. If they use practical effects and a good writer and director then it's possible he'd be really good for the role.
Personally I think the "feel sorry for Freddy" thing was the biggest misstep in this film (and that's saying something). The original Freddy wasn't bothered by death, he seemed to enjoy it and the power that came with it.
I don't know if it is just my headphones, but it feels like someone amplified the movie up by 1000X when Freddy is in frame, so much so that there is so much feedback and static.
Isn’t part of Freddy’s power is that he needs people to talk about him and spread the fear, so they’ll be more scared of him and give him more power? Doesn’t that explain all the taunting and not immediate deaths?
Jackie Earle Haley was the only saving grace of the film, he even got Robert's blessing and appraisal before and after it came out. This version takes Freddy back to his roots, a child killer with a disturbing sense of humor, not a cheesy villain spouting one-liners left and right.
I used to talk to my brother for hours at a time about how I'd write a better Nightmare. For one, make him innocent. Completely good guy who never did anything wrong. Then after the fire, he becomes the demon they needed him to be. That revelation of an origin story by itself is infinitely more interesting, especially since he would be getting his revenge on the parents first, then the kids after for listening to their lies. Gotta play with the morality, make the viewer learn what makes a man a monster.
What a brilliant reinterpretation. And it makes such perfect sense. Freddy, the bastard son of 100 maniacs, after living his life tormented by children and the citizens of Springwood, late at night constructs a weapon that gives him primal razor gloves. He would strike the innocent, bring fear to all and terrify and the children... by diddling them and taking naked pictures. The glove is just a photography prop and the claws help him reach the camera shutter. Right? We all know from this movie that Freddy is just a pedo and the whole glove thing and killer thing is unimportant. Yup... that's a totally logical addition to the franchise. Next they will be remaking Michael Myers. Turns out he was never a killer at all, just a racist. He got locked up for being a racist and when he got out, he wanted revenge on the people who put him away. It had nothing to do with killing. And Jason. He wasn't a murderer. He just hated litter bugs. These new remakes add such New Dimension to old classics. Whatever the producers are paid, it isn't enough. /s I wouldn't even give this glob of mucus 1/5. It is the crappiest of remakes.
Quite a few of the actors clearly didn't want to be there (Mara and Gallner). There were a lot of things where you think "why is this here?" (The boiler room, the full time gardener at a small pre school, the preschool having closed etc)
Wait if he could just kill the adults the whole time why didn't he do that, too? Like, "Oh man you burned me to death, I'm so gonna get you....r kid? But only the kid, we're square."
That's bullshit
Look it up...it was also mentioned in a documentary of the Nightmare series...
darthdevious No, no. I meant the fact that it happened. That they would do that to someone. That is fucking bullshit. It doesn't help that I'm not a Depp fan, but overall I just think it's terrible. Hey, here's a kid that worked really hard for his role. Let's hire his friend.

I saw that concept too, joke's on me, I thought it was the movie we were getting.

the coolest scene in this movie is when Nancy & Quentin are in the store & the boiler room & store isle interchange , that's pretty cool but its also CGI , I'm in the mindset that if your going to use CGI use it like avatar show us spectacular things that where never seen , not a burn victims face , the old Freddy looked much better & also had much better facial expression ( but I suppose the makers of this movie could say its more realistic burn scars & his facial expression would be suppressed with scars)
Stoner Yoda937 damn good points. I like your avatar point. They shouldn't just use CGI for the sake of time and budget if it can be made in camera. Save it for the out of this world, or supernatural things that can't be practically made.
Personally I just really like how Freddy's voice sounds, sounds cool.
I like the scissor tick he adds with the glove.
Freddy was never likeable unless you are an asshole.

and after killing the children except two of them ,Freddy just realised that his real target was the parents
ALhashimy exactly, the loss of their children would severely screw up the adults, especially if they would ever find out it was somehow a man they murdered many years ago for torturing said children.
But how would they find that out.
You know I actually would've liked it if Freddy was inoccent it would've put an interesting spin on the classic story
I agree. My philosophy is if you’re going to reboot something you should shake up the dynamics as long as it’s still recognizable
no that would ruin freddys character well i mean 2010 freddy is already ruined but it would be mored ruined so... ye
@@Disbelief_not like it’s canon to the actual series so go wild with new interpretations
Blisterdude123 The Friday the 13th remake was pretty good about sticking to its roots. and was pretty good all around. This movie however... oof
I think he actually did a good job as freddy
The script was mediocre. He did what he could.
Jackie Earle Haley is a phenomenal actor I agree but the direction and script is what held him back. This movie was trash in that regard. If this had a stronger writer and director it would have been a great reboot
He did good for what he was given
His performance was stale and he doesn’t have the charisma that Robert Englund possesses.

The McMartin preschool trial would disagree with point 2.
But if he was still the monster in the end isnt it alittle pointles?

I felt that Jackie's depiction was far more terrifying and imposing than Robert's. Rob went for a classic scream appeal, kind of a crazy, mocking, and comedic fear, where as Jackie just went for straight up terror. I struggle to even call it a slasher remake because they went far left towards a more straight up horror approach.
Jackie just feel empty
Jackie's Freddy is generic the voice is a redo of watchmen and his character is to flat and drab he isn't interesting to watch thats the problem with this Freddy.
Having just watched this, the only thing I think the only thing that it did better than the original is when the first guy says “oh, god” and Freddy goes, “No, just me...” that line creeped me the f out but the original is better in everything else
Most of the sequels are better than the original though.

So wait you don't think any remake could match the original, but then imply that's only do to people's personal nostalgia.
(The entire concept of the character doesn't make sense anymore)
Why does Nancy see her friend in a bodybag? She did in the original because she actually saw her friend in a bodybag before her dream sequences.
The Nancy actress doesn't care at all (And she even stated it was phoned in performance)
The over use of CGI and jumpscares. They bring up this micro-naps stuff then just use crappy lazy jump scares besides the 1 badass scene in the store. (That kind of stuff should have been the movie)
They made the entire plot filler.
Anything that resembled a real story arc instead of "Badguy is Bad."
It was a very poorly done movie.
Personally I’ve always interpreted Freddy’s knowledge of the “medical stuff” just from what he learned from killing the previous kids
I learned about the brain functioning for 7 minutes thing in 7th grade (We were learning about the nervous system and brain things like that) and since this is a reboot with a more recent Freddy (He didn't die in the 60's) I figured it wasn't that far fetched if he learned it some point in life.
freddys mouth looks like its really numb cuz it doesnt move all that much
That first kill was impressive the throat slit seemed pretty realistic.
When I first saw this I'm like "what happened to his face?" Then when I saw his acting I'm like "wow good acting but not as good as Robbert"
lol the makeup artist they had working on that set did a lousy job in 1988 it looked better cause he actually looked like he wasburned todeath and it was latex based which at the time and still does look pretty good
justin tahair disagree, the original makeup isn’t as realistic as the reboot makeup. The reboot makeup actually looked like a burn victim, but it wasn’t good for the character.
This actually made me laugh out loud in some parts, which not many things can make me do. You just earned a sub, keep it up👍🏽
They need to do a Freddy vs Michael Meyers and a Jason vs Michael Meyers. And an all three against all three. Then throw in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre killer and the freaks from The Hills Have Eyes. I feel like Freddy learn that thing about sleep because wouldn’t he learn or gain the knowledge to know all about dreams from the dream demons

Sort of a remake, mostly a reboot. I think it's supposed to be a reboot first and foremost, but they "paid homage" so much it's seen as a remake.
a Remake is usually a reboot rather than a 100% remake.
Instead the viewers just got played with.

and his jokes make him even more creepy.
wolfpack 9701 I really enjoyed the darker tone to this movie. I guess we're in the minority lol
mtbirchfieldCG me too. I liked this film because of Freddy. that's about it but still I liked it was definitely a good time
wolfpack 9701 yeah he sounds like fucking Megatron
I am curious about Kevin Bacon playing Freddy he's a good character actor and isn't a n00b to the horror genre. Robert actually really likes the idea of Kevin being the next Freddy. If they use practical effects and a good writer and director then it's possible he'd be really good for the role.
And oh yeah…”The woodsmen” was the prequel
Nice review! I would also recommend the series Boots To Reboots because their review for the remake was epic.
Personally I think the "feel sorry for Freddy" thing was the biggest misstep in this film (and that's saying something). The original Freddy wasn't bothered by death, he seemed to enjoy it and the power that came with it.
His voice in this movie DRIVES me crazy lol
the worst super villain of all time
Michael bay
Oscar Lopez OH NO.
Your so right, what a prized tosser.
Also the MPAA
You're my favorite UA-cam Channel. Thank You for everything!
this movie is just SO fucking obnoxious. there's nothing scary, just loud noise after loud noise after loud noise
Still better than Rob Zombie's Halloween in all honesty.
+Alonzo Tompkins Rob Zombie's Halloween was far, far better than this in every way. at least that wanted to be its own thing and got some stuff right
+EVO6reviews exactly why I like it even as a super fan of the original
I heard Rob Zombie's Michael Meyers went psycho because he saw his sister's boobs... is this accurate?
I don't know if it is just my headphones, but it feels like someone amplified the movie up by 1000X when Freddy is in frame, so much so that there is so much feedback and static.
Isn’t part of Freddy’s power is that he needs people to talk about him and spread the fear, so they’ll be more scared of him and give him more power? Doesn’t that explain all the taunting and not immediate deaths?
In the original franchise yeah, but in the new one they didn't bother with explaining anything, so fuck knows.
Omg freddie's voice! I was totally waiting for him to start an honest review of the previous film.
