When the step mom says that she'd make snarky comments about Jen in front of Maddie (what an insecure immature woman) and Maddie would say something like "everyone's beautiful in their own way!" - What a sweet, beautiful little girl. My heart broke for her again. 💔
That woman seems like she’d be an absolute nightmare as a stepmom and that wet blanket Tyler would let her get away with it. I’m sure she’d have kept Maddie from ever wanting to move in with them or stay there long if she did ever move there.

It’s clear that Maddie was the product of an affair and Tatiana didn’t want Tyler to have anything to do with Jennifer… probably Maddie as well. My husband had a 12yr old son when we married. The bio mom NEVER saw him only contact was a birthday card yrly. I knew it was very bad for his son and wrote a letter to mom guilting her into being a better mom. It greatly improved their relationship and I never regretted it.
If Jenn says Maddie ALWAYS slept with her, how in the hell did Stern's have the opportunity to take THOUSANDS of photos?? Literally THOUSANDS!
Jenn allowed Stephan to have full access to Maddie.
He even invaded Maddie's space in her makeshift bedroom that was in the living room.
I think that Jenn was a lazy mom maybe because of her mental health issues and meds...
and because she trusted Stephan.
I think that Jenn also detached herself from Maddie because Maddie looked so much like Maddie's dad and Maddie's dad never wanted a relationship with Jenn.
Jenn seems more concerned for herself and Stephan than she ever was about Maddie 😢.

Why?! Because they LIVED in another state like a lot of BIOLOGICAL parents and only got to see her during the summers and holidays? You do realize that man is MILITARY right? The liklihood of him CHOOSING where he lived was slim to none and if I remember correctly they moved to TX because of the military or job related however they did talk regularly on the phone, thru text messages, etc. Clearly Jenn is NOT the easiest person to deal with and again if I am not mistaken Tyler only ever talked to Sterns ONCE on the phone at beings Madie's age WHY would he need to talk to ANYONE but Madie? Personally, I think Madie may have either told someone she wanted to go live with her biological dad, step mom had suspicions something was going on and may have had bio dad mention it to Jenn and Jenn said something to Sterns, or what I truly believe happened Madie told Sterns she had a crush on a boy at school and bam a week later he does the unthinkable to her. At first I thought possible pregnancy but I doubt that as that especially would have gotten Sterns busted but it very much could be a possibility. However, we have to remember most of these interviews were done before Sterns was arrested and the few interviews Sterns did he mentioned how Madie told him she had a crush on a boy at school and how she always told him everything. So I believe that alone probably made him snap.

He didn't just not see his child-he didn't communicate with her at all. He said himself he would just go months without speaking to her and he blamed ADHD. He doesn't deserve to gave excuses made for him-he failed his child.

Go watch hidden true crime , Lauren & Dr. John had an interview with ss parents. I feel as though had Maddie had more time with Debbie and Chris Stearns ( ss parents,) things wouldhave turned out diffrent, Debbie really cared , or came across in her conversation with hidden true crime.

Tyler literally abandoned his child, I listened to the interview and idc what Tyler has to say. His wife has him on a short leash and he should’ve been in his daughters life.
My thoughts too. No matter how you color it, he chose Tatiana over Maddie. What's more, Tatiana was insecure the way Tyler had to walk on eggshells in communicating with Jen for fear of upsetting her. Plus she said she made snarky comments to Maddie about Jen.
Every adult in Maddie's life failed her.

When I was a child being SA'd by my mother's husband I told my friends when I was 13 I was going to go live in my grandparents barn. I told them I was going to make an apartment in 1 side of the barn. I was going to put a window in the front, I could even imagine the curtains blowing in the wind. My grandparents were my safe place. It's sad that the woods were Maddie's only safe place, not a person 😭
Probably because Tatiana always bad mouthed Jen in front of Maddie and Maddie felt uncomfortable hearing this woman talk about her mom that way. Not sticking up for Jen. But Maddie was a child, and mature caring adults don't bad mouth the other parent in front of a child

So Tyler can claim "he asked" if Maddie would like to live with him and she's not here to call him out on his lies. I feel like Tyler's saying that to clean up his image. Dude failed Tatiana as a finance by having a "quickie" with an old girl friend. He failed the Marines and had to serve time. And he failed Maddie as her bio dad.

You use reminders and timers and memory triggers to cope through life.

He didn’t even talk to her on the phone much, for months - ADHD is no excuse, she’s his CHILD - when I was deployed in the military, which was several times adding up to several YEARS when my son was a teen, I STILL spoke to my son & husband often, at least weekly, sometimes daily. Going for months without calling your child, when you live far away is not being a PARENT. Maddy had no one, not even her teachers reported concerns that they should’ve, like experts have said who work in the school system.
My husband speaks with his Mom every evening, and if she went for 1 or 2 days without hearing from him, she’d be calling me or the hospitals. I also speak with my parents on the phone almost daily. (My husband & I are OVER 50 years old). Also, we speak with other close family members almost DAILY on the phone.
When you live far away, the more you call family members, especially your CHILD!!!

Debra was complaining about how people are saying she yelled for Maddie because she was afraid SS might have hid Maddie on his parents property or in the woods nearby. This offended her apparently and she said that she was actually yelling at/asking god “why maddie?!?!”.. when it clearly states the truth according to Debra in the police report! There was SO much support for both Debra and Chris in the comments and I was absolutely mind boggled.

In Indiana it is costly upwards of 3,000 to 5,000 you have to have a lawyer retained or wait for legal aid whose list is at least a year long for most counties.

This comment made me start to cry. My father allowed himself be controlled by my stepmother and it fractured our relationship for 20 years. We just recently started to rebuild now that he’s getting a divorce but hearing this interview makes me realize how reminiscent it is of my own situation growing up and how it affected me mentally and emotionally. Poor Maddie was just so neglected and pushed to the side. And literally abused murdered and tossed out like Monday trash. LITERALLY. So so incredibly sad and depressing.
He said Maddie was the most important person in his life, but didn't even gave her his last mame. He didn't even go to court to get custody of Maddie to be able to spend more time with her. What a hypocrite. Strategic Eyes really did a good reaction to his interview and this guy is a piece of work.

She wasn't his whole world. He was so scared to make his wife mad during this interview. Really trying to distance himself from Jen. Both he and Jen failed Maddie. They didn't deserve Maddie!

Maddy’s Grandma said she cried both on her birthday in the evening not wanting to go home & the night before, so she let her stay the one extra night but not THAT night. She stayed with her Grandma Fri & Sat night, but I guess it was just supposed to be Fri night. She should’ve really investigated & pushed to find out WHY.
And the teachers noticed her fatigued & sleeping some days in school, (being drugged night before, likely) but never reported as mandated reporters (mandated reporters do not need to prove things, just report odd things), and also, her friends said she cried a lot at school about her mom.
I’m amazed and horrified that the school did not explore the reason why that child was so anxious, exhausted etc. Yes, she didn’t like SS because he hung around and ate all their food. What about more probing questions?! Do you want Stephan to be your mother’s husband? Do you see your mother and SS kissing ? Kind of joking but serious. Do you want your own room like 4 to be your OWN room ? Surely they knew her living circumstances? That she didn’t have her own bedroom.
This is a really good point, someone should have checked on Maddie, she may have opened up to a sensitive counsellor, but we will never know now, I hope everyone who let this little girl down, never have a peaceful night's sleep again. I'm not really into this channel, yes she paid part of the cost of the information, but I don't appreciate people who have an agenda, pushing it onto this tragedy in order to preach their viewpoint.

I couldn’t believe it when I read this title. I literally decided as of yesterday that after all the new releases this week I have completely changed my theory. After Jen’s soft room interview, I went from thinking that Jen only found out about the unalive that morning because Stephan told her, to convinced that it was premeditated by both. Lakes with Gators everyone? Need I say more? And that’s when I knew that the motive has to be pregnancy. Jen has dependent personality disorder, and zero self-esteem thanks to her deep rooted mommy issues. Jen cares so much about what others think about her, that she literally chose not to go to her own daughter’s funeral at the chance of being judged. Jen is also a child, that still fears ‘parents finding out’ over the actual seriousness of the consequences at hand. Take for example, how she reacts to Stephan getting arrested. She actually expresses her fear of his parents finding out about what was going on, more that what was happening to her daughter. So then just imagine if Maddie is pregnant. Imagine the lengths that Jen would go to avoid the conflict of having people find out that her 12 year old daughter got pregnant by her boyfriend under her roof, especially her own mother finding out. Just like opting out of the funeral, Jen will always opt out instead. I’ve been heavily considering this theory of motive, now for both, imo as well. Thank you 🙏
P.S. Full circle back to those online journal entries from Jen. Makes sense why she was trying to join the Navy. She’s got dependent personality. She molds herself to whoever she’s around, she’s play-doh.

My take based on the unsaid energy with Tyler is exactly that calculated Jenn thought if she got pregnant that he would marry her. So when that didn't happen and she couldn't manipulate him into leaving Tatiana for her, then she resented Maddie. You can just feel her detachment from Maddie, she was just a left over problem from a plan gone a rye. I think Jenn was a very depressed individual that used what ever she could to just check out and stay numb. And may have reasoned that in her mind and just didn't care about Maddie as a mom would. I believe Jenn knew and was very involved with what happened to this precious child.

I have a step daughter that has been through the ringer with her mother. She was taken from her mom at 15 by DHS. Horrible stuff happened to her. She is 18 now. We have gone through a roller coaster of a ride in the past few years. I refrain from speaking any ill of her mother at all. I just say we all make mistakes but she is safe now. I am extremely protective of her maybe sometimes too much. She has a ton to recover from and i made a promise to be by her side. Unconditional. She needs adults that have her back not against her in any way. Maybe if maddie had people in her life that thought that way she would be here today. RIP Maddie

IMO Jenn would never let Maddie go to live with the father because Jenn would loose the check Maddie was drawing. Jenn drew disability meaning Maddie got a check also till she was a certain age. Also if Maddie couldnt/wouldnt sleep alone how did she manage that when she visited her dad? Also she sent her alone on a plane ride but had to have Sterns come babysit her? I just dont believe anything Jenn says. Only that her priorities in life was meds, sleep and Sterns. Finding her child was not a concern what so ever. " I didnt go look for my missing child because I needed to take my meds and go to sleep!" Makes me sick and angry.
