Thanks Carter! Notion was recommended to me but I did not find an easy to understand video until I viewed this. I will be transferring the data of several Excel sheets to Notion and creating one relational DB.....a HUGE timesaver especially since I can include images, urls and notes.

Carter, this is the best explanation of Notion that I've seen yet. I've been following you for a while and I really enjoy your videos. One question: if I create a page database, then create a linked database say on my homepage. Then I delete the linked database on the home page, will the original page database be deleted also. I want to avoid that. Thanks, Oh, and you should rename the "search" bar to the "Surach" bar! 😁
Thanks for the kind words! Now the answer to your question is: If you delete the linked database the full page won't get deleted. If you delete pages out of the linked database however it will effect the full page database. That's the benefit of using full page database. They're much more flexible and easy to save and store even if you don't want to use them on the front of your homepage anymore. Make sense?

Hey, thanks man, that was helpful. I wonder if you could help me with a question. Re: “How to Relate Database” is there a way I could have the relation setup such that from within the “book” I could click the relational link to “notes” and create new record that will automatically relate back to the book. As it is now, when I click the relational link from within the book, I have the option to create a new record in the notes database, but I have to manually relate that note back to the book. Basically, I want the system to assume that when I create a new record in a linked database that I must want it linked back to the record I just came from (to the exclusion of all others)

You can’t put two databases on a full page database because that page IS a database. Create a blank page. Then, type into the page: “/column” tap the two column option. Next, type in the left column “/create” and you should see “linked database”. Use that block type, then select the database you want to see on the left. Repeat the last step in the right column with your second database that you want to connect. Does that make sense?
I love this. thanks. It helped me a lot. Is there any way to change colors in the calendar view? My projects last for several weeks sometimes so my calendar is difficult to read cause it looks like a bunch of white bars overlaid on a white calendar. If I could just make the calendar's background Yellow I could see more easily what is going on.

This is a very nice, clear run-down on databases. I would like to see a bit more detail and capability for when you are relating databases together. For some reason, I'm unable to get a "full page" edit mode for a database page...when I click on the "OPEN" in the field, I only get the "Open in Side Peek" option...it never opens a full page. Perhaps this was a later new feature of Notion that wasn't in previous versions when this video was being made last year?
Hey, maybe you can help me with notion bug. When I am creating sub-pages inside of my Notion database it automatically creates new database rows and I cannot properly put the sub-page inside of the page. Do somebody know to fix that?
Apologies if this is a very naive question, but I have a database that is working well for me in Notion, but I am trying to figure out how to extract the emails that I've compiled there (filtered by other tags in the database) to put into a number of end of year emails to various stakeholders. It doesn't seem possible to select and copy across cells--am I missing something obvious, or is there a workaround to be able to extract that info from notion?
Omg my whole table database gone. It's just disappeared except the title and the whole page blank. What should I do? I can still see its contents by creating view at other page to link to it but when I click view or edit database, it just show up the blank page. Please help! I am doing it via notion app on Android. Seeing your grocery/shopping list makes wish Notion had a map view. That way instead of saying you got the item from Walmart you could add the link to the specific location and see it on a map.
Where do you store the full page databases? Drag your calendar inside of a callout and change the background color of the callout to yellow.

Yes exactly, then just add the database pages to your databases page.
Also, use "create linked database" on your other pages to pull them up.
