Here is a video of what I do when Im mad and nothing is going right!! Sometimes Im over worked, over stressed, and nothing seems to go right!! Tonight im camping in my pickup truck camper in Arizona located in the American Southwest. I make a campfire, cook the best bbq chicken recipe over an open flame, and give ya'll some good ol' genuine advice on how to cheer up when you're in a bad mood. Larry we all have your back my friend. There are alot of us that have similar feelings at times. My defense mechanism is to stay in bed a couple hours longer or to put my phone on “do not disturb “ a bit longer. I feel you and understand what you’re talking about. Keep on making videos my friend. You have a great vlog presence and a chill demeanor that relaxes all of us watching that have similar issues. You are appreciated by so many. Anybody who talks of anti-consumerism has my vote. I retired a couple years ago and have been busier than ever trying to FINALLY pay attention to what really matters, like my health both physically and mentally. That is exhausting enough to keep one busy let alone trying to "keep up with the Jones". If one is looking to follow in your footsteps, or even retire early all together, you have to start deciding what really matters and get rid of the rest. At least that's the case for most of us. See you out there some day.

As someone struggling with Anxiety & Depression (badly) I greatly appreciate your candid honesty. Been "stuck" at home for the better part of a year and not nearly doing as well as you. Not nearly doing as well as me? I have a friend that describes me as a person who videotapes my homelessness 😂 I think it’s all a matter of perspective. 🤷
Anyways, I have struggled with anxiety and depression, my whole life and has always been on medication for it. I’m proud to say though, I am officially off all my medication as of a couple months ago but that’s all due to diet and exercise 🤷

Personally, I think you're doing things right. I'm new to your channel, but from what I've seen so far, I'd be doing it just the same. Working a little and resetting my mental health whenever I can. My current situation doesn't allow me that possibility. The difference is that I'm a single 57 year old female. I'm not sure how comfortable I'd feel alone in the middle of nowhere. I watch you drive through the desert on fairly deserted roads. I'm not sure what I would do if I broke down out there. I'm not talking about a flat tire or other miner issues. That much I can handle on my own, but an actual breakdown. I'd definitely have to have great cell service to be able to call assistance.
Me and my dog (Sophia, goldendoodle, by the way) we would love this lifestyle and would be just fine.
P.s. Bacon Crispy is the only way to eat it and not gag😂

Got a kitty I hand feed treats. BTW is Mason chipped? Could be life or death if he wanders off or worse. Vets and rescuers always check for them. Not terribly expensive and so life saving.

Wanting to do something or go somewhere but really don't have the funds to give up to do it while my families are planning trips during the holidays it saddens me to watch them take adventures plus my mom has been passed 9 years and the holidays are no longer the same.Thank you for sharing this video it was very much needed. Yeah, that has to be really hard not to be able to travel while watching everybody around you take trips around the holidays! The thing that I forgot to mention in this video was that the location I picked was intentionally boring with very basic views for the area, I wanted to bring to point that the location doesn’t really matter as long as you relax and just enjoy what you have. So even though you maybe can’t take a trip right now, maybe just spend the afternoon at a local park and just relax 🤷

As Kenny would say "this video is in the bag", I understand where you are coming from, about bad moods! Campfire's the cure! I can't think of a better way to use a stick of butter....unless it's on popcorn!! We no longer chase the "latest, newest things". Bacon also cures a lot of things but only if it is crispy & crunchy....lol We are looking forward to the 2024 Truck Camper Rally in Quartsite, we have our tickets and are really excited as this will be our first one! We are getting our new to us Truck camper ready for our first trip, heading south for family visit & warmth. Really glad that you went the diet & exercise path, they can work wonders! That chicken is nowhere near a train wreck. Most restaurants will spray oil on the coals to make it flame up and that makes the chicken taste much better. I bet it will taste fantastic!

Hi Larry. As others have said, we have all been there so keep hanging in there and doing what YOU need to do to find your peace and comfort. I know others commented on your chicken but it did look good when it was done on your plate. At first when I saw you put it on, I immediately thought... whoa..fire is so hot and grill so close to such a hot fire that butter is definitely going to flame up! HAHAHA I do the same but when using butter and such a hot fire, do indirect cooking.. spread the hot coals around the sides and chicken in middle where chicken is not directly over the coals. Google it. Lots of cooking done that way on grills. Another good easy peasy recipe for chicken is marinating it in Italian Dressing with garlic and your choice of seasonings or Greek Dressing. :) Loved this laid back video and thanks for sharing your journey and being personal with us. :) Big tight hugs!

Another great video Larry....I always ask myself "Alice, do you really NEED that or do you just WANT it?" Most times I just want it and it passes. Holidays usually mess me up mood wise too. It's hard to get back to everyday things after. Love Mason especially when you talk to him and he puts his little ears up. What kind of dog is he? He's just the right size. Hahaha I actually do sorta the same thing!! When I’m at the store I’ll put things in the cart and then right be fore I go check out I’ll back through everything and take out the items I don’t absolutely need 😆usually by then the excitement/ impulse is over so it’s easier to.put back haha

Even when you're retired there are challenges. Things still break, things stop working, people get sick or have an accident. Its even more of a challenge once you are not working and on a fixed income. I used to love to go camping but since my husbands medical problems he snores like a bear. I am either awake all night or sleep on the couch. Either way I am ill the next day. Not so enjoyable anymore. Hope you get to enjoy for many more years! Love your videos. I get to camp without the snoring! Lol

My friend. If I could give you any advice it would be to give yourself a little break. Things pile up on us and usually all we can do is keep our head down and stay the course and it usually gets better. I've been living through you and Kenny the last few months. Had multiple hip surgeries over the summer. Six months later I still can't walk unassisted (but I'm getting better every day now). I love to camp, bike, boatand I haven't been able to do anything but sit here. It got so depressing around labor day that i had my wife get all the firearms out of the house for awhile. It's much better now. Take heart in the fact that you are bringing joy into people's lives (especially mine) by posting these videos and getting some of us through really crappy times. Thank you my friend.
My trick is to wrap the chicken in tin foil for a certain amount of time and then remove it and brown it up for the finally.
I like my bacon slightly crunchy. It's all good anyway.
Mason is a great companion for you. He's a sweetie!
Dogfood is mostly not nutritional as it is cooked at high heat. You might try Sundays dog food. It's supposed to be more nutritious.
I have to say, I think there are quite a few people that think like you. I keep my expenses low and work for a couple years and bank everything, then I take off for a few years. I have spent the last couple years taking care of my 90yr old step-dad. Eventually I will be back out in a camper running the world...
I am new to this channel. I am not a camper but these videos are addictive. I love the education in some videos, about the history of towns, and your cooking looks amazing. I find myself hungry. Your breakfast is out of this world. I love Mason!!!!

Good evening from Godley Texas, grilled chicken always tastes good even with a few minor issues. Maybe next time, just baste the chicken each time you turn it. Next time, place aluminum foil on the grill. Put the chicken on the foil. This will help stop the flaming up.
As far as the generator goes, be sure to always use Ethanol Free Gas and add Sea Foam to every gallon of gas.
Keep spare spark plugs with you.
Change the oil every 50 hours and use synthetic oil.
Same fuel tips for your boat.

#1 chicken...try to wrap in foil and cook on coals, could even add the broccoli to the foil pack. Or baste the chicken instead of trying to marinate. Some times the blackened crispness are best.
About singing the blues... I get you. My philosophy is ODAT...one day at a time. Be good to yourself, do one thing a day just for you. Most everyone gets off-track over the holidays. Hope you enjoyed good food and friends guilt free. Back to basics my friend. Whole foods, try spray butter. Grilled veggies are awesome.

Hi Larry, my parents love your channel! I sat down to watch your video with them when I noticed you put a plastic Tupperware in the microwave, PLEASE DONT DO THAT. lol Glass is much safer. Also the broccoli and cheese tastes way better when you steam it outside of the plastic bag.

Should not be microwaving plastic. Can get into the food. Molecules. Check for an old Corning dish or Pyrex at a thrift store. Healthier. Got mine at the Christmas bell ringers (not sure if I can use their name).

I see you got a no stick pan there great and easy to clean and I like my bacon crunchy, my wife cooks them in the microwave at home then she freezes it and then warms them up in the pan with the eggs and what not keeps the mess down and she saves the bacon greese and uses it to cook with
Fourteen minutes in, yes ya let the flames lick that chicken. You wanna cook that meat without doing that. You can even wrap em in foil and just cook them in the camp fire if ya want. Chicken is actually one of the toughest things to cook properly, along with fish, crab and oysters. Sometimes, I will put large chicken pieces in a pyrex bowl, and bake it at 300 degrees for 30 minutes BEFORE taking it to the grill. Does a great job. If it is raining, you can cut it into smaller strips and use a Foreman grill to cook it up.
I've been through the same, Larry. Always look towards the bright side! Much respect to you!

Bacon, well, bacon is bacon…good no matter if crispy or a bit on the floppy side…just depends on the mood du jour!

I was always told that I need to let the meat come to room temperature first. because it changes the effect of what you Do next percold. Cold does not allow the pours with the meat over the chicken to open app to allow the butter to go into it. once you'd like to pick and come to room temperyou're. Then the poor's opened up. Allowing the butter to be absorbed into the chicken. Also
The butter doesn't get cold but it wouldn't if you just took it out of the ice chest or Refrigerator.

Awww no you definitely went to the wrong part of Arizona!! It’s super hot down there!! Arizona seems to have almost every type of weather and landscape!! It’s honestly my favorite state!!
So I noticed that the butter I use is 98% butter fat so I assume that may have caused the extra flames 😂 🤷 which ended up not even causing any issues with the final product lol. But yes the chicken was buttery tasting and those other three ingredients make chicken and beef taste like it’s from a 5 star restaurant!! 😋

Butter has a low flash point (300* F range). Just need to use low heat when cooking with butter.

I'm enjoying the heck out of your videos. You're so...normal. And a funny sense of humor. I'm in AZ as well and I want to check out some of those spots. Happy trails.
Change the spark plug and fuel filter. If it runs and just quits it is usually 1 or 2 of those things. Not even 10 minutes of work. Just need a spark plug socket and pliers. The vibration breaks the contact in the plug sometimes and dirt can stop up your filter in dusty environments
