This Week I'm taking you north into the Paul Bunyan Starte Forest. It was a great weekend. On Friday I was stressing about finding a camping spot. The forests have been so full of campers this year. I have been having a harder time than usual finding empty sites, especially along rivers and lakes. I called by friend Jack during my lunch break on Friday. He suggested heading up to Paul Bunyan State Forest and parking in a wooded pull-off. Thats exactly what I did in last week's video, and it would definitely work out, however Jack suggested taking the e bike up to a beautiful vista where a fire tower once stood. I decided to locate a few potential spots before heading up there. I was so happy I made the drive. I found 3 spots in total; the first one had signs saying no camping. That didn't make it into the video. The second spot had potential I may have to check that out some weekend. The 3rd was an absolute beauty!
Saturday was a wash. It rained most of the day. It wasn't a hard rain, just an annoying mist. I'd hear claps of thunder every once in a while, but it never turned into a soaking rain. The humidity and dew points were crazy high. The air felt so thick you could chew on it. Saturday night I wasn't feeling like eating. I was tired, wet and spent the majority of the day sweating. Thats when the true potential of the truck camper shines. I turned on the air conditioner, took a shower and spent the last few hours of the day watching UA-cam. Don't get me wrong, Saturday was still an awesome day camping on the lake. I attempted to catch some fish. I cleaned up the campsite and rebuilt the fire pit. Toby and I went on a few walks, and I really got to see the beauty of Northern Minnesota.
I hope next week I can come across another campsite just like this one. Thanks for coming along on the weeks adventure.

Tuesdays with Kenny and Toby. It just doesn't get any better!
People ask me all the time are you lonely ? My wife had passed away during Covid and I was sad but now I have discovered my purpose which is my grandkids . I take them on all sorts of adventures but it is rough considering there is 9 of them ! My married life is over and my new life has begun.
And kids need their grandparents now more than ever!
Alone and not lonely, also. Just me and my dog. I would love to do what this man does, but being a female, I would be too nervous which would negate all the fun. Fishing is a blast!
So sorry to hear this my friend! Bless you brother
Ricardo, it sounds like you're living for you, for the first time. I'm very proud of you. Enjoy it. Yes, spend time with your grandkids, but, more importantly, bring them stories when you see them. They'll idolize you, and you'll be their hero always. In saying that, when they need you, be there, brother, always, always be there. They'll forgive you while you're on your adventures, but they'll resent you if a trauma happens in the family and you're still out doing your thing. You sound like an awesome grandpa. Continue to be one, they'll be the ones looking after you when you're old and infirm, not your kids. Very proud of you, just for being you, my friend. God bless.
You GO Grandpa!! Your grandkids will always cherish the memories!!
Condolences on your wife.
I am 62. Alone but absolutely not lonely.
I live in my own head and am happy with who and where I am.
I go to work every day, give 100%, and come home to my dogs and peace and quiet.
I am a Corrections Officer at a Max Security facility. Stressful at the best of times.
Excellent. Keep doing you. 🥳
@@Johnniebhoy83 Thanks, Love! I intend to!
I could not do that job! I was a CO with the county. Being in a Super Max would be a completely different level. It's the experiences I've had in life that keep me looking for solitude as well. Be safe!
@@KennyOfAllTrades I am in Illinois. Menard is trending towards Supermax status. Tamms Supermax closed years ago and now the State is shutting Stateville Max down and sending them to us (Menard CC). We have a closed cellhouse remodeled and ready to reopen. But we have no staff to man it.
IDOC pays extremely well and we are AFSCME Union facilities. If you are interested in a well paying, Union career, I would recommend applying to the Illinois Department of Corrections, specifically Menard CC.
I CANNOT AND DO NOT SPEAK FOR IDOC OR MENARD CC. MY STATEMENTS ARE MY OWN PERSONAL OPINIONS.
@@KennyOfAllTrades I like my job. But I treat people the way I expect to be treated. I am also a 62 year old woman. My situation may be somewhat different than other COs.
My dog Ruby passed a few weeks ago, watching Toby brought back memories, thanks Kenny
🙏🏼
I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm glad the videos were able to bring back good memories. 🙏
So sorry for your loss. We had to put down our 15 yo on June 6th. So I know your pain.
@@KennyOfAllTradesTobby is bigger each week! What a good doggo.
Sorry for your loss.
You hit the lottery with Toby he is a great dog!!! I look forward to your videos every Tuesday from Maryland.
Tuesday is my regular day to watch my three and five-year-old granddaughters all day while their parents are at work.
They are fantastic little girls, but It certainly is nice to be able to come home and decompress on a vicarious camping trip with Toby and Kenny. Thanks again guys!
Lucky you, enjoy those precious moments my children have outed me, and I haven't seen my Grandchildren in 8 years.
Love the New old lamp...I agree, get another one to match! Thank You for sharing this Amazing Adventure with us Kenny & Toby, it was Glorious!
Thank you Kenny and Toby for sharing your adventures with us!!
❤
Thank you! 😊 I appreciate your generosity. Your support definitely makes a difference!
So glad you and Toby always spend a couple of nights. Gives you time to relax and enjoy. Toby gives the sweetest kisses and I love his camping chair.
Thank you for taking me along. I enjoyed it!
Love your antique lantern find! It's beautiful.
Whether I'm on the road in a hotel or at home, your videos are a daycation. Keep it up, Kenny.
I don't get a lot of days off from work but when I do, the morning is spent catching up on these videos. In a few years when my schedule calms down I gotta get up to Minnesota for some camping
Toby is becoming a real adventure dog. Thanks for sharing .
Kenny the calm in your voice is so soothing to the soul. The little baby bird sleeping so peacefully was so cute! I have great respect for our earth and all life therein and it warms my heart if others do too. Toby is adorable!
Toby is a beautiful dog and full of energy. The campsite is really cool and the echoes of birds and wild life is Mother Nature in all her glory. Ain't life beautiful when there's only 1 man and his dog free to roam the forests, walk the trails and fish. No disturbances. Cheers and many trips to you. 😊😊😊
Man this looks like a dream. I'd love to do that for like 4 days. My dog, the word, and a fishing pole.
My dream also.
The wife and I just found your channel and love it! We're from the Twin Cities and get up to the North Shore as often as we can. It's paradise up there.
That's my favorite part of the state.
Thanks Kenny! Greetings from Australia, love your channel, love Toby too!!🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏👏❤️🇦🇺
Very cool! Thank you for helping us out by supporting the channel. I turned on the Super Thanks option a few weeks back. The game trail camera and lantern were bought with money that was donated to the channel. I've been wanting a trail camera to record the campsite for years! I really appreciate your support. The generosity from people like yourself keep the wheels on the truck turning. Thank you 😊
Alone but not lonely, Amen! Being a lifelong Minnesota resident, I know exactly what you mean when you say "all these lakes and no fish", I have that same problem.
In Minnesota, that’s a pond - not a lake!🥰
Recently moved up to NW Minnesota from Texas. I fulltime RVed with my 3 Labrador Retrievers for two years, and sold it last August. I miss the dispersed camping so much. But I think tent camping is more in the cards. Great video, you are a calming soul.
Yippee 👏!!! Hubby and I have been looking forward to seeing you and Toby all day 🎉!!! 😊
So peaceful ✨ Particularly beautiful this week including your vintage lantern. Thank you 💕
Hey Kenny ! I'm a Vietnam veterans and I love going camping with you little brother . I was watching the EP where your truck is leaking antifreeze ! I sure hate it for you , but I like how you work through these problems ! You Keep your head up , your always being prayed for !
So let's go fishing little brother . I appreciate your kindness and your honesty and we count on seeing you down the road !. 🕊️🙏👍🏻
: NightWalker :
Oh yeah ! Say hello to Toby for me !
: NightWalker :
Will do!
I appreciate the comment. Thanks for following along up here.
Toby sure loves being with his Dada..that's awesome
Love your channel Kenny. Thanks!
I appreciate that! Your support for the channel is really appreciated! It is because of generous people like yourself that I was able to pick up the lantern and trail cam. Thank you so much!
That is a beautiful pond ! More wild roses and a wild iris .. so much to see ! Your antique lantern with the red glass are hard to come by nice find . Even though it rained it was very peaceful seeing the raindrops falling into that pond . Loon calls and a swan thanks for taking me camping tonight . Hope you and your family are out of harms way because of that dam break and flooding because of all the rain !
Yes, then rains up here is causing a lot of flooding down south. It's looking bad in that part of the state. The Mississippi has not gone above flood stage here yet.
Your fishing is becoming great entertainment for me. You find the secret fishing spots that I usually find. So secret, even the fish dont know where it is. 😅
My wife thinks your secret ingredient for breakfast is beef jerky. And that you are making chipped beef for breakfast.
Beautiful drone shots of this area!
That's a really good idea! My plan is more simple.
I enjoy your calmness and because of your love for Toby and nature you have a friend here!
I appreciate your kind words. Have a great Independence Day weekend, and be safe out there.
All your videos make me grin from ear to ear!
Sweet Campsite, Beautiful Flowers, and the Loones we're great. The Bike ride looked like a Blast , Good Video. 🔥
I love how you captured lots of beautiful flowers..my fav are yellow roses and hydrangeas. That antique lantern is so awesome, I think you need a matching one for the other side. Antiques are the best!
Love Toby’s modesty hiding in the woods for his duty 😁
Be Blessed Kenny, thanks for the weekend!
Thank you so much 😊
Rain on the lake is hypnotic. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!
What a very pleasant atmosphere you provide.
I really love the way you always leave a place better than it was when you came. Love watching, and the new red globe lantern is great with lots of history behind it I'm sure.
I wish my Dad would get out more since we lost my Mom 2 years ago. He's officially stopped hunting, says he's too old. Hopefully he'll stay fishing for now. Just found your channel and I love you and Tony's attitude. Alone but never lonely is a given when you are a only child like I am.
I hope your dad finds his way. I can't imagine the heartache he must be going through. It's good that you recognize he is struggling. Hopefully, he can work his way through it with time.
Love the rain 🌧️ really peaceful
The excitement when you found that site😊 priceless ❤
Enjoyed it thank you.
Toby sitting in his chair like a big boss living his best life lol another awesome video Kenny keep'em coming bud
Thank you for your videos. I love watching, you go to beautiful calm places and have such a quiet way about you. Reminds me of the painter, Bob Ross. That is meant as a compliment. It’s refreshing.
So nice of you
Beautiful, peaceful spot to enjoy solitude in nature
The smile on your face says it all
Again, it's a beautiful spot thanks for letting us come along hi, Mr. Toby
Great job KENNY
I absolutely love kOAT!! He brightens our day!! Jody
What a beautiful spot to find.
Thanks Kenny & Toby!
Very cool! Thank you for supporting the channel! I really appreciate the donation!! Thank you!
Just found your channel.
Toby is too cute!!! I love pitties.
Thanks, Kenny and Toby, for a beautiful video! The scenery was amazing ❤
Wow! Great video. Very soothing.
I'd back in so the trailer won't be seen as easily(since the truck is dark) and you can leave quickly if you have to go. The 2nd site looks great.Lucky you.👍
Nice to see you again, you Kenny and Toby you find a beautiful site to see and camp at great job
Thanks 👍
Love your videos. Even the music is calming. Try not to ever miss one . Trying to catch up with your older ones. The peacefulness relaxes me so much. You have the same luck fishing as I do.
Glad you like them! And glad you like the music.
In Texas, as soon as you level your rig, another camper will drive up and park 2 ft from you and start setting out all their crap and playing loud music late at night.
Another great episode, Kenny. I'm glad you took up Jack on his suggestion. He's been up at them fire towers a few times before. Already buzzing for next week's episode. 🥳
Kenny…great video but have one suggestion! As a avid cyclist and Mtn Biker…I ride many trails such as the ones you do…consider wearing a bike helmet! Trees…mud….gravel….ATV traffic….just a good idea! Take care!!
Dropping a “like” for Toby the dog 🫶🏾
I spent years camping at that spot, Its an old army corps of engineer campsite. You get some traffic, and the sheriff will check on you. Thank you for taking care of my favorite spot back home. They allow you to occupy one of those sites for up to 14 days straight before you have to move.
Did you see Bigfoot out there
@@donnalaplante6589 You mean George? He lives just up the road!
Hello Kenny & Toby, great video, really nice place. Toby enjoys his nap time, such a good boy. Kenny have you ever got spooked at sounds or things out in the woods? Thank you for all your time & effort. You & Toby stay safe. Hey Mandi & Tilli hope you both are good.
@Kenny There is 3 Good sites down there. The first one you visited we called Bowtie because of the shape of the lake. Nice site, can be a fair bit buggy at night. There is another one on the main road heading towards the Camp Ground that is a drive through site with a hill, We called that one Horseshoe. Nice site for tent but hard to get a good spot for a truck camper. The one your at in the video everyone calls McGregor. There is fish in the lake, just mostly at the other side of the lake where it gets deeper. Out there, there are some other campsites but they are down ATV trails and not really excess-able to those with a camper.
Also, the gun shots you heard probably was people shooting down at the gravel pit.
Corps of Engineers knows how to build em. Camped with the Corps all over the place until I can't do it anymore. Great places to camp.
Your voice is so calming and you keep such a neat camper. Enjoyed this.
The weird screams you heard were probably bigfoot. I looked up Paul Bunyan State Park, it's a bigfoot HOT SPOT!! 😄
No kidding, i should read up on that!....the good news is that I did not get any bad vibes from that place. The forest is super dense. It's hard to see past the wood line. There are beautiful rolling hills in that forest. I really need to spend more time there.
@@KennyOfAllTrades
You are braver than me! lol
@@KennyOfAllTrades Wish the video had picked up the sounds...
As long as you feel the friendly, you are good to go😎
Thank you Kenny!! I hope to find one these types of spots in about a month from now!! It will be our 14 anniversary and wel are well past due for some real camping!!! Thank you again for taking us along on your adventure!!! Be honest and be kind !!
I hope you have a great time!
if you love dogs like i do stop the video at 23:15 .. what a look... made my day
Thank Again for this great moment this vidéo goes in my favorite collection. Loon frog bird this sound remember me when my mom have a camp on the lake.😢 ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Always looking forward to Kenny at 6! Binge all week between vids!
awesome. Toby's saying lets go dad..Toby is such the King of all Trades. sitting in his chair. Toby is a well behaved fur baby.
Definitely need to get a matching old lantern. Love the red globe! Toby is a lucky guy--he won the pupper lottery!
What a beautiful place. Rain and all. Wow. Thanks for taking us along.
That lantern is quite the find. I would be tempted to get another one.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great old lantern ! Sweet you had the place to yourself, love that poooch!
Good old Minnesota. Come and find a lake for yourself, plenty to choose from!
The rain on the Lake and the sound of the loons (?) is magical. I and 4 other friends are getting out camping this coming weekend in the El Dorado NF….so looking forward to it. Love that doggers he is such a sweet boy that loves being with you on these adventures.
It really beautiful there and so well kept, roads look good and a toilet in the woods. The antique lantern is beautiful. Toby is such a good dog.
Great video Kenny!! That was a beautiful spot!! Loved the b roll shots
Thanks Larry! I appreciate you watching!
Golly... had a good LOL when you opened the outhouse door. "Nice". I know, huh? You're fun.
Nice relaxing weekend,we all need one now and then,Toby's a sweetie ,jeanie
Beautiful campsite and fantastic photography! The rain on the lake was so peaceful and I was so happy to hear the loons. We don't have them where I live and they are just so awesome! Great find on the old lantern...the old ones are made to last! Toby is a lucky pup to go on these adventures!!
You might catch Bigfoot on the trail cam.
The forest people can see the frequencies coming off the trail cameras, hence why nobody sees them on trail cameras.
They are out there for sure
Thanks!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your support for the channel. It really does help with keeping the channel going.
Kenny: my husband is from MN. we live in NM. now, but visit every summer (June.) We take our camper to the family lake compound ( Pokegama Lake;) in Pine City every summer; just love MN ( his wife (me) is a NM native. We marathon watch your videos, especially with Toby now!! The three day drive is worth seeing the beautiful scenery!! We'd love to meet you up north in June sometime! Marcia and Steve Hansen.
Eric and I totally love your videos! We are so jealous of all the free camping you have in your state! Listening to the birds in the video made me want to recommend an app I have. Merlin is the name. It will tell you the names of the birds you are hearing. We love it.
Thank you, I'm gonna check it out.
Oh thank goodness...when you said you had leaches in the fridge i thought you were going to introduce a new gourmet recipe!!!!
Oh boy! 🤣
We love your videos Kenny and Toby u r awesome and so are the videos we love watching your cooking. Keep up the good work. Keep putting out those videos. See you next week.
Hi Kenny. I just came across your channel. I really enjoy watching you and Toby. I am from Australia, I watch a few different channels. Mostly Australian ones, but I really enjoy yours. Thank you for showing me some of your country and area.
Awesome! Thank you!
Can't be a Kenny video without some cooking! Another great video
Great camping spot. Like that awning. Looks neat off the back of the Camper. Toby’s growing up nice.
Good video! I love boondock camping in my truck camper in Minnesota. Try night crawlers cut in half next time for panfish under a slip bobber.
Wow, this is the most relaxing, peaceful camping video I have seen in years. Sub!
That is so kind of you! I really appreciate the wonderful comment.
beautiful scenery..the wild flowers … Toby makes sure everything goes smoothly for sure
Another great Tuesday edit Kenny. Thanks
Kenny what a perfect spot, a lazy weekend is nice once in a while. Really enjoy seeing Toby grow. I look forward to the trail cam footage. Safe travels 👏👏💙
Thanks 👍
Hi Kenny. The old lamp is a old railway lantern i think. Thank you for sharing. God bless you Two. 🇺🇸🇳🇴
Used to camp in Itasca state forest as a kid. I love that whole area.
That’s Awesome Kenny fixing the fire 🔥 pit looks Awesome 😊
Just got home from finally going on a "camping trip" for the first time in years because of health. We got a little cabin in the woods. But we also bought a pop up last weekend, and are going to be using it a ton this summer. You motivate me to get out in the woods. I love your videos, and as always, great job man. Super awesome relaxing videos
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm happy to hear you are also enjoying all that Mother Nature has to offer. Be well, be safe, and have fun!
nice to see you are adventuring around parts I'm more familiar with. Love the videos as always brother. Stay free.
Another great video, sir. Have a wonderful week, sir, God bless.
Another beautiful spot, thanks for the ride along.
love the red globe on the new lantern
Love that you are letting us see the wild flowers! Thank you! Toby is looking good and he seems to mind very well. We love watching you. Can't wait to see what the trail camera produces in the night.
So nice of you
I just happened to come across your channel by accident. The title on the thumbnail is what really caught my attention. "Comfort in solitude. Alone, not lonely". As someone that has been alone for quite some time now, the title just really appealed to me so I clicked on it and watched it. I just wanted to say I liked it so much I subscribed to your channel. I really like your calm, laid back, and relaxed demeanor. The peaceful music you have playing throughout was a really nice touch as well. Anyway, I look forward to watching your videos from here on out. Cheers!
I appreciate the comment. Thanks for watching.
