Never saw this before. IMHO, Huston’s portrayal is the best of all. Not many people know that Griffith made this film. His depiction of Sheridan’s ride is brilliant. That’s Black Phil at his best.
23:00-23:05 That really happened after Lincoln became president when his 11 year old son Willie died. Lincoln was not a Christian before his time of being a president.
You mean Grant didnt mind killing thousands upon thousands to gain an edge, whereas soft old Lee cared too much?!True if you look at following wars like the Great War and WW2 i suppose.
It's absurd that the Twilight era crazed people have to turn Abe Lincoln into a Vampire Hunter. I think it is insulting to such an important President.
Grant was a much better general than Lee; it is said that Lee was the last "old" general while Grant was the first "new" one. The characterization of Mary Lincoln is actually very good.
How ironic, the ending is surrounded by an angelic song when Lincoln hung the 38 Sioux and Santee Indians without due process in the largest mass hanging in US History. He died with the blood of over 600,000 citizens of the Union and Confederacy on his watch and he was never labeled a war criminal for who he was in life.
This is theater, this is drama, this is acting, yes, and it's history!
The actor playing General Scott would've likely remembered the Lincoln assassination since he was 7 years old at the time, according to IMDb.
It is men like these( Abrahm Lincoln) that unite, elevate, prosper humanity.
This version has the missing opening scene with the Slaves on the boat. Most the versions are missing this scene.

Very right! Poor Abe probably always longed for that... He did know how he looked like, didn't he? And isn't it part of his greatness?
I love lincoln

Poor Abraham Lincoln
One more romanticized version of Lincoln's life..Oh well.
The actor portraying Abe Lincoln sounds and resembles Liam Neeson.
You need to check your history.
It was the South that declared war on the North, not the other way around.
How about the movie were he is a Zombie Hunter.
