I’ve avoided the Harlequin & the Catherine Wheel stitches because I thought they looked too complicated. However, after watching this careful tutorial, I’m ready to give this one a go! Thank you Crystal!
You got this!! 😊
Me all so
If you try it, can you share photos and we can celebrate together? ☺️

Using this to make a throw for my best friend. 🥰 Her living room cat-magnet throw is made with the cheapest, scratchiest acrylic, plus it’s starting to unravel. Can’t wait to replace it for her with something soft and beautiful! 🥰
Thank you for these timestamps- very helpful!!
You’re most welcome!
I can see why this is your favorite stitch, Crystal. I'm obsessed with it! I thought it was going to be so hard, but it's so easy. Thanks for being such a great teacher!!!
Crystal you read my mind! I've been wanting to make a large throw for a new sectional I'm about to have delivered. THIS IS IT! I've started my crocheting journey under your tutelage and I keep learning from you. Thanks, friend. (I always wind up giving my projects away to friends and family. This one I'm keeping!)
This is a beautiful stitch. You always do a great job showing us the exact space where to put the stitch and you take your time showing us. I have watched a few others and if you didn't know how to crochet, you'd be lost. You are a great teacher! I have suggested your channel to many people out here for many of your tutorials 😊 I have also suggested your channel to ladies in the craft stores.😊
I'm going to make this just have to choose colors from my stash. Thank you again for everything you do for us!🤗 love you 🥰
Wishing you a beautiful blessed day and many blessings to you and your family 🙏🏻🤗💖💐
I finally found the blanket that I will make just for me. First time ever! Thanks, Crystal.
Love how you make everything look and do so simple, you are an awesome teacher. Thank you again Crystal
I’m currently making this as a blanket for our queen bed and it’s turning out perfect. ❤
Love, love, love this stitch! Thank you Crystal for showing us!
Thanks for watching!
I have been practicing this stitch and Catherine's Wheel stitch from many different tutorials. I've settled on the Harlequin stitch. I'm a beginner, but I feel as if I've got this figured out. What I love about your tutorial is that you work a foundation row in the chain, which I feel stabilizes the first row of the repeat pattern, and makes it easier for a beginner to count the stitches. 3 colors of yarn chosen, wish me luck, cuz here we go. Thanks so much.
I always thought this would be a difficult stitch. Not with Crystal as a teacher! I am using scrap yarn and I am absolutely loving this stitch pattern! Thank you Crystal for a great tutorial! I just finished this blanket and loved making it-my last row of the border I did the twisted single crochet stitch instead of the reverse crab stitch. Another blanket for my donation pile!
This is a beautiful stitch and the colors you chose for your blanket are perfect! As always, an excellent tutorial!!
Thank you so much!
😊
Wow, I was terrified of this stitch and and afraid to start this project. After watching your video. It looks so easy. Can't wait to go pick yarn colors. Thank you so much h Crystal you are a great instructor of crochet.
The pattern is super pretty. And those are definitely "Crystal's" colors - very pretty and cozy looking. I love Earthy colors 😉👍
Thank you! 😊
I have never crocheted this Harlequin stitch before, I can understand why you like it, it's a really pretty stitch. Thank you Crystal for expanding my stitch library knowledge, I love it!🥰
What a gorgeous blanket! I’m proud of my Ny Neighbors. I’m originally from upstate Ny living in Alabama now for six years. I miss my NY folks. All my Ny friends are awesome. I can’t wait for the auction! I am a animal lover myself with three dogs and 3 cats,,,,if it were up to me I would have a many more. Lol I love all fur babies and they deserve it all!!!!❤ thank you for you kind and loving soul Crystal❤
I live doing c2c crochet, but I have to watch this on the tv. What a beautiful blanket. Thank you.
Thank you! 😊
I just finished my current WIP with the express plan of trying this stitch! You make this so easy! Thank you.
Been waiting to see this pop up since you showed it in your live earlier. Thanks! Now to find the colors I want to use!!
Found it already!!! LOL. I actually had two 4 packs of coordinated Herschnners worsted 8 in my stash! Looks like my CAL is being set to the side and no sleep tonight!
Think I just found my next blanket. Thank you Crystal!
Thank you Crystal and I’ve never knew how to do crab stitch and it’s very pretty. Thanks Again
I really like this one especially the beautiful finish you showed. I am going to make this.❤
Great tutorial Crystal as always. I love the colours you chose for your blanket. It really is a beautiful stitch 🧶🤎
I was so excited to see this on your live last night and couldn't wait for you to do this tutorial. That is such a beautiful blanket!
oh my goodness.. Stop it you're killing me LOL this is just so gorgeous... I already had planned a trip to "The Triangle" tomorrow. In a town nearby (43 miles west of my home) we have all the IMPORTANT stores in a triangle. My husband called it the "Bermuda Triangle" LOL you know Joann's , Michaels, Hobby Lobby (and a grocery store) all within a 1 mile radius LOL I will have to find what yarn I want to use for this... LOL LOL I hope your friend will make this into a pattern. I need to purchase more of your patterns.... this way I can carry it with me wherever I go while working on this.. Wow Crystal this is so beautiful.. I want to make it now lol lol I'm in love !!! I heard of this stitch before but was always too intimidated to try it. You make it so understandable in this video ... I know I can do this now..... Ty Ty Ty Ty did I say Thank you??

It is my favorite stitch now and I have made at least 15 projects made of harlequin stitch mostly receiving blankets. Thank you for the tutorial, you’re the best teacher.!
Man I love that statement about being perfect. You are a great teacher.
Wow! This is gorgeous! Thank you Crystal. This one will be for my bed this time.
Enjoy! Thank you ❤️
My grandmother loved this stitch too.
I’m so amazed by all you know can’t wait to work some of your stitches up ❤
Beautiful, not especially a fan of the crab stitch but it’s perfect for this. Thank you Crystal for this tutorial, you made it look easy
Thank you Crystal for the stitch tutorial. I love making afghans out of one stitch.
I'd like to make a scarf and headband set with this stitch. It's beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
I love this stitch! I’m looking forward to making an afghan using the Harlequin stitch now. Thank you, Crystal!
Hi Crystal, I am doing what you love most, playing your videos from most recent onward LOL. I am now on Video number 7 (this one). I love the Pineapple pattern that you just did, wow so pretty. Not able to comment on them all, but trying to get thumbs up for sure. I love how this throw is turning out, the colors are amazing and I love it so much. Hope you had a Beautiful Valentines Day yesterday! Love and Hugs from me to you and your Family.~~Sindy.
Thank you so much for sharing how much to use for the actual project!
Crystal, this is a very beautiful stitch to make anything with and to use any Yerba! And I especially like the “crab stitch” around the border. It’s a lovely stitch and is easy to do. A great job on this tutorial. Thank you. ❤️
I must say how much I APPRECIATE how you give details on the yarn needed for each of the projects; and your recommendations of the best weights for project . So many sights do not give how much to purchase to make the project which is very frustrating. Thank you -- I can tell you are a very kind person. God Bless
I see why this is your favorite stitch. It is a beautiful stitch. I can’t wait to make a blanket using this stitch. Thank you!!!
Beautiful colors. Going to make one black white and red
That will be pretty 😍
Just love you and your tutorials. I am just an older old Gramma and I can't see to sew, So grateful for crocheting. You make my day. Thanks and Blessings.
Thank you so much!
LOVE your tutorials! You’re my favorite! Thank you! ❤
I made one for my son in gray and maroon. It turned out beautiful. He loves it. This is a great stitch. Thank you for such a wonderful tutorial.
Hello Crystal, Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us. I have also started this afghan in blues. It will be for my youngest daughter and her husband as a wedding gift .
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I found your instructions detailed and easy to follow. I’m making a baby blanket out of Caron simply soft in 3 colours. It is so pretty. Love your channel.
This blanket is beautiful. I have been looking for a big project and this is the one. I have so much yarn and I may have a problem deciding what colors to use. Thank you so much for your time.
Thank you ❤️
No surprise Crystal this is your favourite stitch - it’s very pretty . I will definitely try it 🤎
I was always afraid to try this stich it looked so complicated. Thank you Crystal for explaining it so well I started it this morning and it's not hard the way you explained it!
Crystal that's beautiful Afghan That's on my list of many crochet projects Thanks Crystal for sharing Have a great rest of your day with your family
Brown is my favorite color too!
🤎🤎🤎
Wow!! such an effective stitch. I'd never have guessed it was done over 2 rows for each colour.
This looks so much easier than other harlequin tutorials I have seen. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful blankets thank you so very much Crystal ,!.
Very pretty pattern! 💖
My to-crochet list is quite long, but I should bump this one up near the top. 🙂🧶
I'm making this blanket right now. The colors are Gorgeous they are Big Twist Beige, Pound of Love Umber, Pound of Love Olive, and Pound of Love Antique White.
I love it! My granddaughter is getting this throw for Christmas in lavender and teal. Thanks so very much for all you teach. ❤
I Love it! Have some yarn that I've been wanted to made a throw with. I was looking for a new design. At first glance, I said that gorgeous. But I bet its hard. Crystal you make it look so easy. I have my yarn in hand and going to give this a try. Thank you for excellent directions and step by step instructions. I think I can do this. XOXO
I can't wait to make a blanket with several shades of grey and black. Your browns have me mesmerized!
It looks amazing in that yarn. I’ve done the harlequin. I want to use it in a cardigan somehow. Maybe misread going up and down on the collar/lapel. Thanks Crystal. It’s great to brush up on a stitch I’ve always liked!
Thank you Crystal for the tutorial. Can't wait to try it
Crystal you make everything look easy, and your tutorials are the Best! Thank you so much for all you do!❤️
I love this stitch! Very pretty throw!
Thank you! 😊
Hi Crystal, I am a beginner crocheter and I love your tutorials. They are very detailed witch makes me want to try even the most complicated looking stitches. Your work is Beautiful. Thanks for being an excellent teacher.
Thank you for another great tutorial! I just finished this throw using Caron Cotton Painterly Cakes (4wt) with a 6.5mm hook. Pictures posted on your Facebook page. I didn't color control on the stripes and would definitely do that in the future. I love the pretty pattern and the reverse sc border looks very cool. I don't know if it's because I used a bigger hook, but I found I needed to put a stitch marker at the beginning stitch on every row, to know where my last stitch needed to be. I also LOVED not having to count stitches every couple rows to make sure I stayed on track! Thanks again!!!
Beautiful pattern and you explain and show it very well. I'm working on throws for my kids and grandkids for next Christmas including 3 spouses. That is 11 total. I will definitely be using this stitch/pattern for some of them. Thank you
Hi crystal, I love this stitch . I feel another baby blanket coming on . Xxx
I don't know how you're able to crochet these throws so fast! Lol it's gorgeous! Another project added to my looooong list lol 😆 😁
Thank you! 😊
I used your tutorial for the harlequin stitch for a pillow and have had lots of compliments.
That's a beautiful stitch. It looks complicated but the way you explain it makes me confident that I could do it. Thanks Crystal.
You can do it!
Thank you Crystal! You have taught me so much!
I love this stitch! I DO need to make a few afghans for my kids in a pattern that they don't have yet. Thanks Crystal 💗
I felt the same way! I'm currently about 40 rows into it and I love it!
I've made so many blankets using the Catherine's Wheel stitch but I think I like the look of the Harlequin stitch so much more. Definitely goes on my saved list of to do projects. Blessings!
Finished my project and it looks beautiful to me. ❤
I’ve tried several times over the years and couldn’t figure it out. Now I can! Thank you so much, Crystal!
I'm so glad my video was helpful 😊
Love this. Now I need to think about what colors!!
Thank you Crystal, it’s beautiful
Love it! Looks like something out of the 30tys or 40tys. I'm trying it.
This pattern looks quite intricate at a glance, but after watching your tutorial I understand clearly how to do it. It is a gorgeous pattern, so I'll be trying it very soon. Thank you🥰
Love that stitch just put the Christmas one I started away cos I need more yarn so gonna order soon for that started one now in dark grey light grey and white ... Think that's gonna be my go to now xx
Beautiful stitch! East as well. Thank you for sharing it with us. Crab stitch is so pretty, but it always feels so awkward to work. This stitch will be perfect for the gradient blanket I want to make.
I just finished my first harlequin afghan and love this stitch. I've never attempted anything like this before but your tutorial made it easy. A few days ago when Mary Maxim had their kits on sale I saw one for the Catherine Wheel and the colors are exactly what I wanted. Furthermore, buying the kit at the sale price was cheaper than buying just the yarn. So, I got the kit. I figured I already knew the harlequin so I'd do that. As far as I can tell the only difference I see is the chain on the dctg stitches is 6 instead of 7! I didn't spend a lot of time on it but I'm pretty sure it's almost exactly the same. Anyway, mine will 😮❤be a harlequin.
Thank you for sharing how to do this i have enjoyed watching tha ks again
That is gorgeous!
This one I'll watch more then once lol but it so pretty
I am going to put this on my 'to do' list. 😊
You could keep going with this swatch and make a small bag . So pretty .
Thanks for being so generous with your tutorials and designs.💕
The crab stitch really stands out nicely if you do it in a single colour different to the row below. I did it on my first blanket I crocheted.
This blanket is beautiful. I'm always up for a beautiful new blanket stitch. Thanks Crystal 🤩
Thank you! 😊
I'm working on a prayer shawl right now. This will be my next project for me. Love the stitch 😊
I love this stitch. Thank you
Your blanket is so beautiful. I love so many of you patterns.
This Afghan is gorgeous, I've been looking for a warm blanket I can make to use for camping i've been thinking about a wool blend with a stitch that doesn't have a lot of openings air can pass through if that makes sense, I think this is it, I was thinking the cable blanket as well which is just as beautiful. Thanks so much for your tutorial.
Wow I really appreciate all your hard work doing your tutorials. The harlequin stitch is brilliant, it's soo pretty and the border is fabulous too. You have taught me loads so thank you 🥰
❤❤❤ Love this, and love that you in a round about way remind me I can do it!
This is the next blanket I plan to make. Thanks for sharing.
Will save for later watching 👀 thank you I have a great idea with this pattern. 😀
