Yes - there are many shows / movies that have a small fan base ( niche audience ) ... I have a few entries to that some would look side-wise at me for - but hey - you like what you like. If someone thinks it awful - fair 'nuff. I may not like what they like. Everyone has their own thing.... that said Acolyte has a very small fan-base that may need future medical/physiological help. All the best to them though. Hope they can recover soon.
When you blame the fans when something goes wrong, you drive them away for good and they maybe even make their own fan projects which will do much better.
I've just randomly been given your latest video on my YT algorithm. I watched you speak for ten minutes and pressed the subscribe button. I've seen Amandla speak for ten minutes recently and I will never watch another thing she appears in...
Steph, I think this is a very good video, from the editing, to the information being shared, and the delivery.
If Amandla wanted sympathy she would show the world the proof. I think she is part of the reason for the show failing, on top of bad writing, when she makes a video running her mouth. I know that I'm not going to watch anything a actor is in if they insult the fans.
At least in THIS case, _attacking the fans_ verifies this quote:

Regarding Leslye Headland's comment that R2-D2 is a lesbian:
(1) When R2-D2 is rolling along with all three legs/wheels on the ground, R2 is basically a *_tripod._*
(2) When R2-D2 interfaced with the computer systems on the Death Star in *STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE,* R2 used what could be described as an *_electronic male probe._*
Ill never understand buying an IP with an established fanbase then ignoring the fan base you paid for to try to create a new one.
The idea is very simple: they start with the belief that the fan market is saturated already and the fans are all mindless drones like the disney-lifers, so they will accept everything without question, no matter the quality.
So in order to increase revenue, they have to expand the target audience to include people who do not like the original material by perverting and bastardizing the ip.
The issue for Disney is that most fans of franchises are not mindless drones.
It’s well known that big companies have been trying to brainwash people. It hasn’t worked. It’s just radicalised more people on the right.
Same question again and again. If there's such a demand for that stuff by "modern audiences" why doesn't "modern audiences" watch that sh*t?

Great review, what I like about your videos is that its informative, and you don't rely simply on your own opinion and curing every second of the video.
Blaming and retaliating against the fans instead of reflection and taking accountability means that your ideas suck and is an act of admission.
Truth. And KK has programmed all the show runners, directors, and actors that the only way a show cannot be a hit is if it's a conspiracy. Now that the show failed, they are bringing out all the talking points. How is this working out for you Disney?!? I am not political and sure as heck not racist. And this show was a constant kick in the gonads of everything SW is about. And the fact that is was so poorly done in every way just makes it that much worse.

Great video. We've seen this constantly. Since Outlaws is flopping when it's all set and done Humberly Gonzalez will blame the fans watch. Disney pays these actors to blame the fans. They know it sucks. They want to express and vocalize their narrative. It's part of the reason why I joined the Knights of Melvin

If the enough Star Wars fans were under the impression that The Acolyte was a well written and acted show, more people would’ve supported and watched it so that Disney and Lucasfilm would’ve chosen to renew it as opposed to cancel it since the show was negatively reviewed plus the fact that Amandla Stenberg’s Disscource video was more than enough of a reason to pull the plug on the series all together due to poor ratings and a complete lack of interest from Star Wars fans all over the world. All she’s doing is giving us another reason to hate her just like Rachel Zegler and the inevitable disaster of a live action remake known as Snow White.
I have no problem with people wanting some sort of social justice. Just constantly being ridiculous and playing the victim doesn't help change anything. It eventually just annoys people and puts them against you. The Victim narrative doesn't work anymore its played out

I have to confess, I put on my alt-right costume and ran into their bank as they were withdrawing the money to fund The Acolyte and was able to nab all the cash.

The show was terrible. They have tried the all of these excuses already. I’m over it at this point I hope they make 10 seasons and dump a billion into it. We will laugh at it just like we are now. So much to do in this world I won’t lose any sleep if Disney didn’t make any more bad Star Wars

Im a lifelong fan of star wars. 52, asian (born and live in asia), attorney (just saying so that you dont think im a basement dweller) and i hated the acolyte. First and foremeost they baited and switched me with carrie ann moss and second oof all the acting is horrendous. Ill leave it at that because the list of everything wrong with the show is as extensive as the day is long. Ughh, the fiddling with the hair thing, shes a brat. Sorry.

Well said Steph. I watched the 1st episode, but I couldn't put myself threw anymore torture. It was horrendously cheesy, poorly written, & the characters just didn't draw my interest. Sorry Amandalala & Leslie Headlamp.. If not enjoying a terribly executed show, that disrespects every aspect of what Star Wars is, makes me a "Far-Right Bigot" ... Lee Jung-Jae and Manny Jacinto are the best parts of the whole Acolyte garbage. Simply cause they were the least hateful characters in the show and behind the scenes. Everyone else was garbage and flapped their mouth way too much, especially Amandla whatever her name is and LESLIE HEADLAMP, THE PERSONAL ASSISTANT OF FOUR YEARS TO HARVEY WIENSTIEN.

While I’m not going to pretend that review Bombing does not exist but the show was all flash and no substance Lees character was the only highlight and the killed them. It’s hard to like a show when it has to end a certain way to fit cannon.
But at the same time you can’t deny that there a lot of “fans” were using racist verbiage to review the show.

I didn’t care that Amandla is a black female lead in Star Wars. My issue was not her race, or sex,or even her acting skill. the show was horribly written and NOT in the spirit of Star Wars. It was the story They wanted to tell not a story that fit the Star Wars framework.
The only reason I even had any interest in the show was because I thought Amandla’s character looked cool. Genuinely sad that she decided it was a good idea to call me a racist because I found it boring and borderline insulting

I couldn’t watch any of this terrible show after it was announced all those years ago. Just loved the reviews by Nerdrotic and Disparu lol.
I'm dead center politically and if I'm in doubt I veer a little to the left side. And I feel this show is shit. I watched the first two episodes and I just couldn't go on, it was that poorly written. In my view Qimir should've been the star of the show, but then they also would need to replace the director and writers.
She is just making herself look dumb by continuing to put out videos stating it was racism or bigotry that caused the cancellation on the show. The show got cancelled because it was bad, and the rating showed it was bad. That is what Studios do, they cancel shows that are not profitable or lack the viewership needed to sustain the reason for spending money to keep it on air. In case she forgot, it costs a lot of money to pay the producers, and showrunners, and PA's and actors, and graphic artists and animators and wardrobe....so if it is financially more sound to scrap a show they know will lose money, they will. Race had absolutely nothing to do with his, but her trying to turn it into a campaign on why her acting career is hitting a wall is just asinine. Then to make a DISS TRACK about it...come on. Its just showing a lot of immaturity. Instead of taking the L and moving on, she is getting the spotlight now for all the wrong reasons and shooting herself in the foot for other potentially lucrative projects that might have come her way. She is handling it really badly and then broadcasting it to the world.
As a black person, and one that worked for a studio before, I can say that she is wrong in her response and wants to put blame on everything she can, and its a shame. Shows get cancelled, movies flop, that is just how it is sometimes in Hollywood, but do not take it out on the fans or anyone else. Just move on to something bigger or better if an opportunity presents itself. Instead, she is making herself look unstable.

She is so naïve! I was born back in the early 1970's, we had film critics that gave the most horrific critiques of movies, and TV shows in magazines, newspapers, and on TV. Nobody back then blamed the critics if a show didn't do very well, people had their own opinions, and views and we didn't slag each other off like this. Amandla has shot herself in the foot, she will find it hard to find employment in Hollywood after this again. This nonsense has to stop now, Disney, Lucasfilm, they all need to shut up and "ACTIVELY LISTEN" and take in feedback on how to improve content, and understand what the fans like. Amandla, like many other celebrities, has problems with living in a bubble and narcissism issues. You don't see Brad Pitt or George Clooney spewing victimhood on social media if one of their movies tanked at the box office. They just act professionally, and get on with their lives. Does Tem Morrison blame the fans for his show? I think not.

You're oversimplifying Amandla Stenberg’s statement and ignoring the impact that such issues online can have on creators and actors. Her blaming the 'conservative alt-right' is not the only reason she mentioned, and reducing the issue to that alone misses the complexity of the situation. Sure, many people didn't like it because of the writing and pacing. However, the cast and crew did the best they could with what was provided, and they obviously don't feel comfortable voicing their opinions anymore because of backlash.
None of that matters. It’s a business. You don’t insult the very people you want to consume your product. That was a 180$ million investment that saw no return. It’s not a charity feel good arts department where you can fart around all day on other people’s dime. People expect a return on their investment. Antagonizing everyone then running to play victim is immature and juvenile. The creators showed no respect to the lore that came before it but expects everyone to respect it’s own work. It’s not complicated. They don’t get to play whiny victim activist anymore and twist Star Wars to suit their own weird fantasies.

To be clear, ultimately the failure lies at the feet of the showrunner Headland for writing such amateurish dialogue, simplistic story arcs, while also ignoring what had come before. Just because you set the show before everything else in the timeline you don't get to do anything you want.
The true test of a show is if someone that is not an existing fan watches something and they say your show is crap, well it probably is. Those viewers have no agenda regarding canon, have not been fed the false narrative that SW needs more women and diversity, etc., and can say "wow, her acting is so wooden" or "why did that character suddenly do that?!" because of the quality of the writing and directing, maybe you should listen. Maybe there is something to it. By contrast, if the same non-fan watches a show knowing very little of the story or lore, and be drawn in, that is a well constructed show. Exhibit A is "Andor" which was praised by most as just compelling TV, regardless of it being SW or not. Compare your show and Andor, and tell me how they compare.
