To be honest When i learned that rest and recovery is more important than what i did in the gym my life became exponentially better. i worked out religiously 5-6 days a week 30-45 minutes of cardio. (sports background) When i cut my training in half, stopped running on the treadmill, and just started walking more. I saw more progress in 3 months than I had in probably 2 years. Especially when it came to weight loss.
Twin!
@@shareeminor9125 it's crazy right? Lol
🎉 encouraging!
@@spindee407 it truly is the best thing to be able to do the least with the best possible outcome but when you're feeling good you can get after it more and that's the outlier day instead of the alternative!
“Don’t be a martyr, be smarter” - Justin. Absolute pure gold. ❤🏋️💪
From the stand point of do the least to get the most. Justin words stand out the most while saying the least
@@Clever_Answer absolutely agree
I feel like this is such a hard concept for people to grasp because everyone has been led to believe that more is better and they think that you can’t build more muscle by doing less.
This channel always seems to read my mind. I was discussing this topic recently. And it’s true.. I went from working out 5 days a week for 1 hour a day, to a minimalist workout routine, and doing 30 minutes a day for 3 days a week and have noticed MORE gains!!
I just bought the Super Bundle on Thursday as a Black Friday gift to myself! I started by studying the Prime program and self testing. Today I’m implementing the pre-primer.
I just want to share my excitement of coming so far from disordered eating to drug abuse and now 1 year clean.
Just like my recovery journey, I see that real change is not a sprint but instead a lifelong marathon.
Thank you guys for making this possible!! Your hard work does not go unappreciated. 🙏🏽
I was a zumba fanatic than obssesed with orange theory and ever since I started listening to you guys podcast, my life changed. Since i've seen a positive significant change in how lean my body and build my body has gotten. I love it.
That last question was right on the money for my situation. It’s crazy how you can get lost within constantly moving your body and using it as an escape route instead of a way to better your life. Fitness and healthy movement should be helping you not hurting you. Finally realizing that less is more and reducing my cardio and volume of training per week did more for me than me “doing more”
You guys have so much wisdom and help tons of people everyday
grateful for this podcast! 👍
I'm a ballet dancer so my job is very physical. When I started limiting my gym time to 45 minutes 3 days a week, I started sleeping uninterrupted, I dropped all the stubborn body fat I've been struggling with, and I noticed a significant improvement in my overall mood. These guys changed my whole mindset on exercise and I'm extremely grateful.
The advice for the woman needing to put on weight to drink a glass of milk with each meal was genius! What a delicious, wholesome, satisfying way to get the job done. You can tell that I love me some milk! 😂 Raw whole milk is my jam. I drink a 10.5 oz. glass daily and all it gives me is pure bliss! Sal impresses me so much with the sensitive, nail-on-the-head advice he gives to women suffering from eating disorderly type issues. This woman feels the humanly love and care in his advice. 😘
Taking the leap of faith and reducing the duration and intensity of my workouts.
You guys are honestly super underrated. Everyone in the fitness world needs to be aware of the knowledge you guys have.
I need to keep hearing this truth that working out less actually can bring about the greatest change because I keep wanting to fall into overdoing it. Resolving to listen this time! Thanks Mind Pump for everything!
Recently diagnose with hypothyroidism, and working out less has really been helpful to me not to cause more stress to the body. I ‘m slowly adapting to moving away from “punishing” my body to “mindfulness/wellness/stress relief”… I ‘m excited to see my results with this change
My 3 favorite guys on UA-cam! I've transformed so much since watching and applying your valuable advice!
On my first planned bulk because of you guys. Admittedly it is very counter intuitive. I was at 284 a few years back and went on a cut and dropped all the way down to 185. Now I'm at 197 and just as lean as I was at 185 so far. Excited for the rest of the journey ahead.
Personally, this message regarding "less is more" could not have come at a more appropriate time for me. I am approaching my peak week for my National Competition for Firgure Bodybuilding and especially in this industry you see soooo many athletes beating their bodies up and promoting this style of training for optimal success. Combating my own psychological barriers with being more intentional and appropriate with volume and prioritizing recovery has been a stretch and journey in itself. You guys have been such a support and act of affirmation when it comes to intentional training for optimal results. Super appreciate your transparency and sharing your experiences, from being an athlete myself to training clients and building my business, you all have been a tremendous amount of help! Hope to one day connect with you all to assist in refuting all the toxic and hurtful information in the fitnessphere!
I can't express how much this speaks to me. I was only going gym 3 days a week, full body workout but would always go twice in 1 day. After listening to you guys, I scaled back my volume and now I have more time for my kids, I have more energy for work and I know I can do this for the rest of my life. Thank you guys so much, your information is invaluable!
The way Justin explained Organism Inc is f***** awesome 😂😝Hilarious
Just completed my 1st month of a 3 day full body type of program inspired by watching this podcast after doing about 2.5 yrs of 5-6 days push/pull/ legs split program.. it took couple weeks to kinda get myself to “trust” this new process, but i now feel more comfortable with it all tbh.. Seriously love this show/podcast & many times feel like u guys already know what’s going on in our heads but it like ya’ll said in this show, ur basically talking from real life experience within yourselves &/or with clients.. Thank you!
I hurt myself really badly by abusing myself in the gym BECAUSE of what you guys said: I was punishing myself. Really, the first principle of “minimal input, maximum output” can apply across the so many things. I do a lot of explosive movements with kettlebells and body weights to make me more robust for jiu jitsu and even though I’m still training around injuries: the less I do the better I feel!
Had a tooth extracted a few days ago, all I have been doing is laying in front of the TV watching you guys 🙌🙌 Thankyou for all you knowledge and company! Always good laughs and lessons to be had here ❤
Mind Pump keeps pumping minds and bodies across the world! This show is part of my daily routine and helps me stay consistent.
Appreciate you guys for your training philosophies. What you teach can work for anyone at any age, and that's the mindset and attitude I try to convey to my clients.
Sal's recommendation of drinking 8-10 ounces of milk with every meal is really awesome because that easily accumulates a lot of calories during the bulking process. Thanks again Mind pump, you really are a fitness saviour! 💪
Congratulations on the deadlift 👏🏽💪🏽 and the release of Organifi Sal ! Thank you guys Awesome episode learned a lot as always. #BestFitnessPodcastEver!
Always enjoy the listener live question episodes! Great to hear experienced trainers troubleshoot issues in real-time
I have cut my cardio to 30 minutes of spinning every day and at least 10,000 steps a day, plus 40 minutes of resistance training 3 days a week. I want to cut down the exercise more and I know I should cut more cardio, but it’s hard mentally to wrap my head around it. I needed to hear that last Q&A.
Same here! Exactly the same. Wow
«Less is more» is a mindset i need to work on. Thanks for another good podcast😊
Thanks for helping me embrace the “less is more” mindset after years of hammering and overtraining. I’m slowly finding balance between health, wellness and performance.
Ps:Taking a walk now as I listen instead of my 50mile hammerfest Saturday morning bike ride.
Love the podcast , have maps aesthetic as well running through it for the second time, listen to you all on Spotify when I’m in the gym and on UA-cam while working from home 🦾
Ordered the organic Peak power and looking forward to it ! Great show guys !
💪🏼
I wanted to punish myself for eating so poorly over the holiday. I felt like I had canceled the progress I had made and set myself back. I was going to do a 7 or 10 day fast. I can easily will myself not to eat. But I realize that I would lose muscle rather than fat. There is no substitute for patience in long-term goals. Thanks for reminding me of this fact. I would have hurt myself rather than help myself.
Self care model for long term - Love the concept.👌👍👏❤️
If only we understood that Fitness is about so much more than exercise. It’s a catalyst for positive change, and it affects every aspect of our life .
Once we understand Fitness is as important as breathing then we will change our lifestyle around it.
Changed my summer after listening to you guys driving to work during work and driving home from work. Now into my senior year, im contemplating in getting mapps aesthetic but dont know if some of the plans are teen friendly
Fellow finnish pumphead here!🇫🇮 I’ve been working out consistantly 5-6 days a week for the last couple of years with a high-volume bodybuilding style approach and have seen really good results, until recently. Did a longer cut-phase going into the summer this year and was really pleased with how my body responded and looked, but the problem occured when i was trying to transition out of the cut. Even tho I bumped up my calories gradually and tried to reverse-diet ”properly” as you guys have been talking about a lot on the show I could not seem to make progress in the gym anymore. My strength did not go up, if anything it went down a bit and I can’t get past or even up to the weights I used to lift before the cut. Now thinking about if switching to a lower volume or better planned out program (anabolic or aesthetic) would possibly help me get out of this plateau, or if suddenly switching from very high to low/moderate volume would have me loose some of the muscle I’ve worked so damn hard to build..?
Thanks so much to you fellas, listen everyday and I've got lots of friends onboard, down here in southern Australia, it's awesome your combined knowledge and experience reaches all of us every corner of the world, pretty cool thankyou
Winner Winner! Please email Ann ann@mindpumpmedia.com with a screenshot of your youtube username, winning episode number, and the email address you would like the program under and we will get you hooked up.
Mind Pump is the best! Thank you for sharing your insights!
I just wanted to say thanks for all the great info you give out and for always making me laugh!
Hey Justin, please move the Chia Pet picture frame, it blends in with your head🤣🤣🤣
😂
You guys have to start online coaching school I NEED NEED NEED THIS. Much love and amazing topic!!!!!!!!!
Great shoe guys. I learn so much every time. I just picked up Anabolic and will be starting it Monday. I would love to win the super bundle. Thanks for all you guys do!
Doing my part for the algorithm, sir!
My mind is blown every episode
Just started listening. Love all the information. Hoping I can save up to buy some programs soon.
I think I've been working out too hard recently, when your friends workout 5 days a week you try to follow suit. Definitely will be looking to start a different program
I purchased Peak Powder and I love it! It’s healthy, effective, and I feel great during my workouts - calm + focused. I don’t feel jittery or feel like I’ve had a ton of caffeine. Plus I enjoy the flavor. Thank you for a great product! ✨
It legitimately feels like every podcast you’re addressing me. Either I’m riddled with issues 😩or I am getting everything spot on.😂🤔I am a fitness fiasco😂😂
Right on the money boys! I do full body workouts x 4 days. Across all 4 days I do 16 sets in total for everybody part per week. My cadence is at 2 down w/ 3 sec pause x 10 rep per lift with a 90 sec rest between sets via a timer. My workout workout is done by 40mins. Then I support with 3 rest days, a day between each workout. Usually on a Sunday I go for big walk for 90minutes. At 53 years it works great and my rest n recovery is 90% on point.... I look forward to my workouts because I get adequate rest.
Top show again lads keep up the great work 👍
Great episode guys!! I really enjoyed it
I drank my Peak Power yesterday an hour before my workout. Had a great workout. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the Peak Power, but according to my Fitbit, I also had the best nights sleep I've ever had!
More production with less destruction is what I like to say to my clients
I like that yt fitness is talking about mentzerite training methods. Some good tidbits of wisdom
These guys know what they are talking about...I stopped HIT cardio, actually stopped any form of cardio because of knee/ hip pain from all the jumping/ burpees etc. I also stopped fasting and eat more carbs and protein/ meals and my body is transforming like I am on Steroids...and I am 48.
Need to spread mind pump across the uk. The general narrative and consensus of nutrition and exercise is so skewed in the uk. Keep up the work guys
Good for you Sal!!!🎉
I get that. But if you've been working out too much and too intense your all life, how do you scale down to find that minimal effective dose? I'm really stuck with this right now! Your video came in the perfect timing
Same!!
Same
Great tips!! and Great Black Friday discount!. :)
Great episode!
Today was week 2 of Anabolic Phase 3 Foundational 2 for me.
The sissy squats made me so sore last week. It took that to remind me that 30 second rest means don't go so hard.
Cycling between different rest periods really enforces doing less.
I this found this out a long time ago, the recovery part is definitely the most important. A lot of reps that people do or considered junk reps. Doesn’t take that much to ignite protein synthesis….less is Bess
You guys had me at T-shirt time !!
Working out less per week has not only improved my gains but has made gym a healthy part of my weekly routine rather than an obsessive compulsion.
Also could you guys talk about how to go back to maintenance calories without just regaining all the fat you lost during a cut?
I've been in a deficit for a little over 2 months and want to move back to maintenance but summer is only just starting here (in Aus) and I don't want to just gain fat back right before beach season haha
You’d need to find out what your new maintenance calories are as they surely changed after the cut. So this will take some experimentation on your part.
Let’s go!! Super Bundle!!
Lmao! Quote of the year goes to Justin.."it all started with the diddling" .. 🤣
Here I am watching this on an iPhone 6S Plus (because I can still repair every aspect of it) after finishing deadlifting, thinking of one of my favorite sayings "every dead body on Everest was once a very determined individual, so maybe bring it down a notch".
My brother and I actually tested out one of the earliest prototypes for the Oculus Rift. It was really cool. We were asked to perform some fine motor tasks beforehand and then play a bunch of different games. Some of the games were pretty fun, but a handful of them made me so motion sick, I could only play for about a minute before wanting to vomit.
VR's come quite a long way since then, though! A lot of games I'd love to try in VR.
Yooo! I have a question on knee cartilage and how to strength train around it? Have a friend looking to train but struggles with his knee.
I've learnt alot in only a year following the channel and introducing to everyone I know in Wales!
I just found the right EP for me! Trying to fix my hormone and get my period back. Im running Anabolic for the 2nd time, and about to get into week 2 of Phase 1 (Im doing the 3x a week). Should I take the one week off right away, or wait till I finish Phase 1, then take a rest for a week before doing the 2nd Phase with the 2 days a week approach this time?
Last night my wife did are budget and allowed me to get the RBG bundle. Still going over it and will start it asap.
Let's go!
Maps anabolic phase 1 has shooted my power up and my body has just exploded. Thank u so much guys. Will be starting phase 2 on Monday. Should I repeat maps anabolic or try something else
Intro fire
Great episode! Very helpful and entertaining at the same time. I especially like what MP guys recommended to the last caller! Love it
My problem is I cant stay out of the gym . I’m retired and it’s become my daily routine . I did however lower the volume considerably. Being 59 and doing this for awhile this been my biggest issue is imy overtraining.
I watched Organism Inc it’s CRAZY AF!
Slowing learning this.. I went from 5 day split body to 3 day full body... o see a major difference...
Any tips?
I'm thankfully finding that just doing the three days of foundational training in maps aesthetic is more than enough. Doing the focus sessions rt now on top of all that volume is WAY too much.
Thank you for your input on Health and Wellness. I listen to you everyday during my workout. I am a 60year old woman and can pass for 40. Because of training with weights for 6 years. Can you maybe give me your thoughts on the steroid Anavar . I take Creatine and beta alanine and reach my protein intake daily. I do no sugar and eat clean. Thanks for your input
I have been following Sal’s approach for three months and have never been stronger or more energized. My weight has stayed the same but my clothes fit more loosely.
My question: is it a problem if I undereat (800-1200 cal per day) regularly? I’m petite and eat very healthily and intuitively. I never tracked and did for a month out of curiosity.
I am hungrier than three months ago and crave more chicken but in terms of calories it is still very low compared to what everyone recommends 🤔
I asked Santa for the super bundle, hopefully I'm on the good list!
Mind Pump Yeah Dude!!!
Winning would be amazing. I need a plan, I’ve been in the gym for 6 years without a good one 😭
I would easily hit 40,000 steps, yes, 40,000 steps when I work at an ER in Washington. I leaned out so quick. For 12 hours We never stopped
Hmm I wonder if I’m an over trainer? I lift 5x a week and 10k steps. When I don’t lift I go to jujitsu 2x a week. I always have to do something & it’s worked into my work schedule where my off days are jujitsu days
I want to do powerlifting but I want to do symmetry first is there a prime section in there
My list on Netflix is pretty much what is mentioned here
What do you do then if you absolutely love being at the gym? I take my time, talk to people and thoroughly enjoy myself
Try putting some focus on things that are less damaging like steps or mobility for instance.
Doing MAPS Performance and just started phase 2 workout 1. Is the first exercise 4 sets of 18 reps of EACH side? Just seems a lot of reps.
Speaking of working out less. Is there a reason to incorporate complementary exercises like the Rear delt flyes or even single joint movements like the Biceps curl. I.e. if you're doing pulling movements and don't care about having huge biceps 'cause you wanna spend the least amount of time in the gym possible while still having pretty good V shape physique.
If it is better to not skip on these.. are there any non-negligible?
You answer your own question. You don't care about biceps? Don't Train them. Don't care about rear delts? Don't train them. Will they still grow anyway? Yes just not optimally
Do the maps plans come with diet guides?
When Justin is feelin snacky he gets ta diddlin
lol
When are they gonna hook up tasers to these VR sets? If I get shot I want to at least feel a twinge in my side 😂
Anyone know if we can use PayPal to buy the MAPS programs ?
Yes, you can
40:50 Conversely, just because you believe/follow a religion doesn't mean you won't still worship power, pleasure, money, honor, drugs, etc. But yeah, I agree, we have a thirst. A thirst many call God but we're really just looking for meaning.
Joined the gym because of you guys. Now I need a program. Pick me please 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
But how do you really know to are doing the right dose?
Listen to your body. Look at things like fatigue, sleep, digestion, mood, energy, and performance.
@@MindPumpShow thanks 😊
Why you guys roasting tech guys saying they don’t smash? 😢
"nobody puts baby....I mean Justin in the back!" -Dirty Dancing -
What's could be a problem for a 13,14 years old kid to go heavy on their routines?
Great show, but I'll probably keep overtraining anyway 😢
