I watch all of your episodes and love them! I really appreciate you knowledge and you humour. I am in Western Australia, so at least some of your suggestions are transferable. Thank you.
Thank you for you kind remarks we really appreciate it 🫂💕 Indeed if you are in the Perth area I believe your climate is almost identical to ours where we are. 🫰.
21:40- "when mounting, dont immediately water for several weeks to allow the orchid get into recovery/rescue mode"- learned something new. All along i was under the impression that if we dont water after mounting or repotting you are giving more stress due to dehydration along with repotting stress.
remember also we have hydrated the orchid , the media and the mount . I always allow for this period as it helps set off the hormone cascade to get the new root growth . 👍
Very helpful.. thank you! 😊 I've been moving to mounts but I find that having only two hands has been challenging.. 😉💚😁 orchids flying here, mount slipping there, string coming undone.. but the result is worth it!
I really like the look of mounted orchids versus being in a pot. Plus, with cattleyas I'm less likely to overwater it and kill the roots when mounted. I kind of cheated though LOL. I just purchased three cattleyas that came mature and already mounted and established for me. I'm growing them facing a west window until they can go outside next summer.
hahaha yes cheating lol but I also have a heavy hand at watering so more and more land up on mounts so they dont have to learn how to swim 🤣🤣🤣 Nice to see someone acclimatizes their orchids they way the should 😍
have you tried mounting on rockwool? i have some dendrobium with keikis and I'm going to experiment by mounting it on rockwool, the idea is rockwool can keep a lot of moisture like sphagnum moss but it won't decay since it's basically a rock, but i don't know 😆
I think because a lot of people want that pretty flower on the table and don't want to go to the hassle of taking the orchid out to give it a spray. I guess also easier for retailers to have them on the shelves . But you are right they do much better mounted .
Glued to the screen from start to finish...
Thank you for sending some plant gospel my way this Sunday.
Have a great week Peter and thank you!
You are very welcome ... I hope I did not come across too preachy 😁 Enjoy the week ahead

rockwool can be a great media but you just need something to hold it all together to be able to mount / hang it
@@thenaturecompany thank you so much, noted...
Where do you get the clay slabs?

The monster at the end... which Schomburgkia is that? A tibicinis?
yes it is indeed , they renamed this to Laelia tibicinis just to keep us all on our toes 🤣🤣🤣
not all orchids mount as easily and some need a little extra something something to do well
💯👍
Cattleyas seem to be perfect for mounting, but I don't see it that much.
