This crypt was "lent" by his friend June Mathis, who died the following year at 35, and she lies in the adjoining crypt... @msrudyfan I think that's correct. Also, I found a photo of Rudy and Alberto in white suits, standing with Natasha R. in the middle. NR's height was precisely recorded, because she had been a ballerina. She was 5'8", and in the photo, she is wearing heels that look at least two inches high. And Rudy is still a few inches taller than she. I think that photo says it all -- Rudy was at least 5 ft 11. Yay!

@kangadillo I believe that footage is from either Swanson and Valentino or The Legend of Valentino. The same documentaries contain the sparring session footage and the fencing lesson at the house in Whitley Heights. I don't believe there is any vintage footage of Rudy working out with weights.

@msrudyfan I think that's correct. Also, I found a photo of Rudy and Alberto in white suits, standing with Natasha R. in the middle. NR's height was precisely recorded, because she had been a ballerina. She was 5'8", and in the photo, she is wearing heels that look at least two inches high. And Rudy is still a few inches taller than she. I think that photo says it all -- Rudy was at least 5 ft 11. Yay!

Is it my imagination, but does he bear a strong resemblance to Zeppo Marx? Zeppo was the good-looking "straight man" who in real life was the funniest one of them all.....Rudolph certainly has killer good looks. I can understand how all the women swooned over him.

@kangadillo I believe that footage is from either Swanson and Valentino or The Legend of Valentino. The same documentaries contain the sparring session footage and the fencing lesson at the house in Whitley Heights. I don't believe there is any vintage footage of Rudy working out with weights.

@sclogse1 Those who knew him claimed that RV had a very slight accent and that it was not distinctively Italian. Margaret Mitchell recalled that his husky and monotone voice was "where his chief charm lay!" It's really too bad we never got to hear that voice in the early talkies :(
