    I recorded this when I was 13 years old at my cousins house in 1990. I'm 43 now and still have this vhs tape, it's a true gem from my childhood. I almost lost it when I was 15 and let a so-called friend borrow it and he wouldn't give it back. My buddy was going to spend the night with him one wknd and i had him get it back for me. I still watch this sometimes when i get nostalgic or to show someone who's never seen Headbangers Ball. Also...after Headbangers Ball on my vhs tape, the Decline of Western Civilization came on. It's pretty killer to watch too.

    I'm watching the whole show right now and transferring to dvd! I remember when it aired originally... I was just 13 then. Really opened me up to a ton of great hard rock bands, most of which were still going strong at that point. You can watch the videos on youtube, but nothing beats the physical experience of the live broadcast at that time. Chronicles an era, really. Bittersweet.

    Vince introduced "Dude Looks" wich Aerosmith wrote about the Crue.

    • @Kelsey1309
      @Kelsey1309 5 років тому

      Didn't they write it specifically about Vince?

    • @Likyourface
      @Likyourface 5 років тому

      They did not write it about the Crue! You need to do more research. They wrote it about waiters they saw out at a restaurant WITH Motley Crue. They were out together and said hey look at that dude he looks like a chic, you should write a song about that. The waiters in the place wore ballerina tutus. They were friends, they respected each other, they didn’t write diss songs about each other lol

    • @Kelsey1309
      @Kelsey1309 5 років тому +2

      Kelly Pettersen I wouldn’t call it a diss song to be honest. I believe there are conflicting stories as I’ve read a story where Steven Tyler was out at a bar and slapped Vince’s ass when he saw him from behind coz he thought he was a chick. I wouldn’t be insulted by it. It’s a great track regardless :)

    Everyone's asking what happened to MTV? Capitalism. Commercial programming, selling to the new generation as they're always the biggest demographic, just as every upcoming generation gets bigger & bigger & seemingly has worse & worse taste as far as mainstream pop musak goes. Ppl who blame Nirvana for the 80's hair metal downfall don't seem to understand that it was the next generation of kids that related to Nirvana much more than the decadence of Mötley Crüe. There are kids that liked both even, but when MC tried to reinvent themselves after dropping Vince, they completely screwed themselves over in trying to remain relevant rather than staying true to themselves. Ppl were drawn to the sincerity of Nirvana, not the image (well, some were when it became "fashionable"), but for the most part it was bcuz Nirvana were being themselves & not trying to be something they weren't, just as the Crüe were partiers in the 80's & sincere in their partying. It wasn't until they started trying to be something else that they completely lost it, otherwise they could've still kept it going for their true fans rather than alienate everyone. It's not anybody's fault in particular but everyone's fault in general when everyone wants to point the finger in blame. Nothing lasts forever & Crüe had a good run, but they should've just accepted that things change & move on rather than try to remain on top by becoming something they weren't. They were good where they were & didn't need to change, but that's what happens when ppl worry too much about what other ppl think, they try to be something else. Now we have Black Veil Brides, which was greatly inspired by Mötley Crüe but are NOT Mötley Crüe. I'm considered a "grunge kid", but I don't have idols or heroes & have a wide variety of interests & amusements, & that includes different music & genres. I'm not going to pay much attention to what I don't like beyond making sure it's something I don't like & that's superficiality, fakery, & posing. I like sincerity, even if it's about hookers & booze, if it's sincere it's going to be real about it & be honest with themselves about it. Ppl who write songs bcuz they think it's what other ppl want to hear & that it will sell, IMO, those are posers. That pretty much goes for anything too, which means MTV is a poser bcuz not only are they no longer about music, but they're trying to stay relevant to sell! I think UA-cam has turned into the go to place for music, but ppl make their own programming!
