I'm in your shoes and can't figure out what's up with all the bitter hateful old people? Actually, now that I think about it - we grow from infants into children, then from young adults to adults and lastly, we become elderly. After a certain point, everything starts going the other way again and the elderly revert back to child like and infantile behaviors. The process is explained in medical literature. I'm guessing bad manners and behaviors amplify in a lot people who have those traits to begin with. Either that, or they have a sense of entitlement from being over-medicated - just like a drug addict.
It's really not about age. Ladies like that have always had an attitude problem. It only gets worse as they get older. If you have a great attitude, then you're always going to have a great attitude.

The nut reference on that golf canister represents a golfer's struggle. Many times by the time they reach their ball especially by the woods or water a squirrel will have already grabbed it & is running off with it. So the the top is an artist's rendition of all the golf treasures in a squirrel nest. I'd go back for it honestly. All of the wives at my ex father-in- law's country club used to prefer sitting where we could watch the guys look for their balls. It was hilarious & very entertaining because all the men KNEW these 2 squirrels always stole balls at the 14th hole. They knew it. But by the time they reach this hole they are so drunk they totally forgetting about the squirrels so they are walking around scratching their heads and totally lost. 🤣😊🤣

The aluminum pot by the milk glass candlesticks is great for cleaning silver and silverplate items. Boil water, add in baking soda, dunk silver and Presto, clean silver!

I also shop at thrift stores and one time I had a women that kept trying to grab stuff out of my cart. After the second time I slapped her hand away because I told her I would and I went and told the manger on duty what she was doing and he kicked her out because I was not the only cart she was stealing from.
I was looking on a bottom shelf and a little old lady was trying to steal a platter from my cart but luckily I busted her with both her little paws in my buggy. I said, "May I help you?" and she replied, "Oh I was just admiring your find." YEAH, RIGHT GRANDMA!!!!!!
OMG when I was trying on clothes a woman took all my items out of my cart and into hers!! at first I thought a worker had taking my cart thinking it was to be put back on the shelves but once I looked around and saw her this woman with my items I confronted her and her friends and in their broken English said they did not steal from my cart! the employee said they said they could not do anything I left that Goodwill and have never been back. I figure if they had to steal they needed it more than me.

Some old crank pot at the medi lab announced in disgust to the entire waiting room, that I was too young to have 4 kids and it was disgusting!😲...I remained calm and responded, "I assure you I am old enough, I just look F%#$ing amazing." Like that grabby lady. I suspect that she is used to getting her own way by bullying and being loud. (Trying to publicly embarrass people). She probably didn't play well with others, when she was a kid. Good for you for keeping a cool head. She sure had a lot of nerve, when she came back for round two, by sicking the manager on you. Years ago, when beanie babies were hot hot hot, my daughter was about 8 years old, at that time. She selected a large beanie baby toy stuffed cat, at our local thrift store. She had been carrying it around for maybe 5 minutes or so. I was closeby, but not in the same isle. A heartless woman came up and snatched it out of her hands and kept it. By the time my daughter came to get me, the lady had escaped with the cat. We also had a golden retriever who was sweet but had very little self control. When it came to stealing little kids food out of their hands, she did not hesitate, she had no shame. That tasty treat was hers. ...just something to remember when you encounter those grabbers who like to swoop in on other people's stuff. I like to think that they have something in common with my retriever. P.s. you have mentioned about Andrew looking out for buttons. Does he collect them? Or does he resell them? Maybe you could have him give tips on how to tell if a button is old and recognizing different types of buttons. Thanks for the fun ride along. Keep being you.
I accidentally was that person. Shopping Goodwill and found a buggy full of dolls sitting right beside one of those bins they roll new inventory out in. No one was around it, so I started checking out the dolls. By the time I got to the third doll, a man came running over from who knows where, claiming the whole cart was his. Okay, fine. I apologized and put back the doll I was looking at. I don't think he bought any of them, but it wasn't worth a fuss. I found some better money makers than a few well loved, naked, messy hair dolls. Seriously, though, keep your buggy close. It was an honest mistake on my part.
I don't usually have anyone start anything with me but I did have a guy try to pull an item right out of my hand once. It was hilarious because he tried so hard to take it away from me that his face was turning purple from straining and I just moved my arm back toward me and he stumbled and slammed into the shelf.

She might have just been a pensioner who sells things she can thrift. This has been common for people to supplement their pension this way for years & years. They become pushy about what they want to buy if someone else also wants to buy it.
I didn’t think thrift storing would become a contact sport but good for Andrew for holding it together and I will certainly be more guarded when I head out this week lol.

The amish doll was a set of 3 from old 1990s homeco/home interiors. It came with a faceless boy and a faceless baby that hung in mommas arms. I had that set, and may still have it somewhere lol

when you think you've got some good stuff in your cart at any thrift store go to the domestics department grab a towel of some sorts and cover everything so nobody can see what you have in your cart. That way there should be no drama
I had a guy once circle me like a vulture while I was literally guarding a nice bike I wanted at a thrift store. I was waiting for my bike savvy hubby to meet me there. The guy really wanted the bike too and circled the store for over a half hour and told an employee that he wanted to purchase the bike. Luckily he never fought with me and was fairly respectful. I ended up getting the bike.

There are some cray-cray older ladies out there! One of my friends was at the grocery store picking tomatoes. An older lady came up and slapped her hand making her drop the tomato back in the bin and then grabbed that tomato and left! I will usually just walk away if some cray-cray gets started, but I realize that I am letting their bad behavior work for them. They will just keep it up. But, there could also be some mental illness happening, so better to just stay away from growling and crazy people.
Just picked up a refrigerator dish the other day. They are so cute! I once had an older man go to take a Jackson five Christmas vinyl record out of my cart while I was standing next to it, actually had to tell him it was mine.

Just last week I was thrifting...and I picked up a rustic homemade wall shelve with a decorative glass door ...BIG and very cool...a man came up behind me and said "My wife WANTS that!!! ....are you really buying it?" When I said yes...he said I will pay you double!!! After I would not sell...he followed me around the store for 1 hr!!! I was afraid to leave the store....lol. The woman who challenged you for the pitcher set was exhibiting a psychological behavior that occurs in people when they see someone else ascribing a value to a physical object. It’s like when you see someone examining some object at the thrift store you otherwise would have passed by. All of a sudden you’re curious to know what value that object has and perhaps you feel a loss when they take the item. The woman saw hubby expressing interest in the pitcher set and so she took an interest in it as well. Most people can regulate this compulsion but apparently she has given in to hers.
At 16:45 ish she zoomed right past this fabulous vintage fuscia poncho top like sweater I am sure would be the coolest thing in the world for her! You can’t wear high end vintage to go thrifting, but I find something a lil out there gets people talking, warms them up to you. Where I come from she is a bit too modern and fabulous for some people to trust. Also, up here the prices are so much lower, pennies on the dollar.
david S Umm don’t be condescending.. I’ve received broken stuff packaged in bubble wrap and packaging paper many times. I think packaging peanuts are the best route. Be nice, keyboard troll.
I like to double wrap my breakables in bubble wrap, then fit them into a box that juuust fits the bubble wrap ball (really tight fit). Then bubble wrap the first box and fit that bubble wrap ball into a larger box that juuust fits the bubble wrapped box/ ball (tight fit), seal the box with lots of tape on every seam. If you have enough bubble wrap and tape, your item can survive nearly anything. I have had packing peanuts fail me spectacularly.

Watch out for "antique" stores. I recall seeing a sign out in front of one establishment that read, "We buy junk and sell antiques." Some "junk" can turn out to be legit antiques, as I'm sure you're aware; but some junk is still junk no matter how you try to dress it up with a fancy label and high price. :-)

She might have just been a pensioner who sells things she can thrift. This has been common for people to supplement their pension this way for years & years. They become pushy about what they want to buy if someone else also wants to buy it.

I didn’t think thrift storing would become a contact sport but good for Andrew for holding it together and I will certainly be more guarded when I head out this week lol.

The amish doll was a set of 3 from old 1990s homeco/home interiors. It came with a faceless boy and a faceless baby that hung in mommas arms. I had that set, and may still have it somewhere lol

I am glad you caught that to. I would love to get some authentic handmade amish dolls but when I looked them up they were pretty pricey but they were handmade and very nice. Well maybe some day.
Maybe the golf tee jar was meant to be “punny”. Perhaps for a “golf nut”, hence the tees, golf balls and wal’nuts’😀😀
when you think you've got some good stuff in your cart at any thrift store go to the domestics department grab a towel of some sorts and cover everything so nobody can see what you have in your cart. That way there should be no drama
I had a guy once circle me like a vulture while I was literally guarding a nice bike I wanted at a thrift store. I was waiting for my bike savvy hubby to meet me there. The guy really wanted the bike too and circled the store for over a half hour and told an employee that he wanted to purchase the bike. Luckily he never fought with me and was fairly respectful. I ended up getting the bike.

There are some cray-cray older ladies out there! One of my friends was at the grocery store picking tomatoes. An older lady came up and slapped her hand making her drop the tomato back in the bin and then grabbed that tomato and left! I will usually just walk away if some cray-cray gets started, but I realize that I am letting their bad behavior work for them. They will just keep it up. But, there could also be some mental illness happening, so better to just stay away from growling and crazy people.
Just picked up a refrigerator dish the other day. They are so cute! I once had an older man go to take a Jackson five Christmas vinyl record out of my cart while I was standing next to it, actually had to tell him it was mine.
Yeah I swear everytime I'm at goodwill people come over to everything I'm looking at and get in my way.

Naughty Dog always looking for a fight. Dude you're like a thrift hooligan waiting around thrift stores picking fights with old ladies over glassware. Seriously though that whole situation made me laugh so hard because I hate confrontation but I love it when it involves others especially in the setting of a thrift store. Everyone in the store looking at you were probably thinking: Oh there's that crazy lamp lady with her henchman picking on that poor old lady. The only thing that bests this would have been getting the whole thing on camera so we could all see it unfold.

Ohhhhh my God that glass fight was hilarious!!! I was laughing soooooo hard...probably bc I have been in the same situation many times!!! Just last week I was thrifting...and I picked up a rustic homemade wall shelve with a decorative glass door ...BIG and very cool...a man came up behind me and said "My wife WANTS that!!! ....are you really buying it?" When I said yes...he said I will pay you double!!! After I would not sell...he followed me around the store for 1 hr!!! I was afraid to leave the store....lol.

The woman who challenged you for the pitcher set was exhibiting a psychological behavior that occurs in people when they see someone else ascribing a value to a physical object. It’s like when you see someone examining some object at the thrift store you otherwise would have passed by. All of a sudden you’re curious to know what value that object has and perhaps you feel a loss when they take the item. The woman saw hubby expressing interest in the pitcher set and so she took an interest in it as well. Most people can regulate this compulsion but apparently she has given in to hers.
At 16:45 ish she zoomed right past this fabulous vintage fuscia poncho top like sweater I am sure would be the coolest thing in the world for her! You can’t wear high end vintage to go thrifting, but I find something a lil out there gets people talking, warms them up to you. Where I come from she is a bit too modern and fabulous for some people to trust. Also, up here the prices are so much lower, pennies on the dollar.

I think packaging peanuts are the best route.

I like to double wrap my breakables in bubble wrap, then fit them into a box that juuust fits the bubble wrap ball (really tight fit).
Then bubble wrap the first box and fit that bubble wrap ball into a larger box that juuust fits the bubble wrapped box/ ball (tight fit), seal the box with lots of tape on every seam.
If you have enough bubble wrap and tape, your item can survive nearly anything.
I have had packing peanuts fail me spectacularly.

It's called demon possession folks! In all honesty the store should not have sold her the two glasses if it was a set. Secondly, the store should have wrapped them all together so they could not be separated. Well done Andrew!
Watch out for "antique" stores. I recall seeing a sign out in front of one establishment that read, "We buy junk and sell antiques." Some "junk" can turn out to be legit antiques, as I'm sure you're aware; but some junk is still junk no matter how you try to dress it up with a fancy label and high price. :-)
I buy “junk” from antique stores and make $$. That’s my hustle.
