Soo very sad ,,I to watch Fresian Horses,, We have watched Risey since an adopted baby.. praying he gets better,, we will see. Soo very sorry for your loss.
I want that channel too and have watched Risey since Queen Uniek accepted him as her foal after she lost her foal and he lost his mom. Keeping my fingers crossed for him everyday!
So sorry for your loss. Wobblers is a tuff disease, actually heartbreaking. There have been horses that have overcome it with diet and proper exercise. Several race horses have grown out of it. Actually, finding out what the root cause would be helpful, but I personally feel it's different in every horse as over my 76 years, what I have seen it is different for every horse. It would be wonderful to be able to have a cure for all the Animal's it affects.
I dont know you or your channel, just clicked bc of having two personal horses one with wobblers and one with EPM. I usually never comment but I just wanted to let you know how much I admire the grace and strength with which you handled this video. Very sorry for your boy but he clearly has a wondeful person on his side❤
I'm so sorry about your horse and you had such a short time together. I unknowningly bought a 2.5 yr OTTB wobbler. I found out 8 mos after I bought her. However, she had had wobbler surgery and then put on the track. After 4 races she tore her R hamstring and I bought her a week after her injury. She had a slightly odd but lovely gait which no vet could explain until I told them she was a wobbler. I bought her to be my event horse and dressage horse. She was too weak in the hindend for jumping but loved jumping (unridden)small jumps at liberty on her own. Dressage not an option due to fused/metal basket around her spinal column in her neck. However, she was the most sure- footed horse, never tripped. She never fell down. She was a phenomenal and brave trail horse. We were together for 21yrs until her demise in 2023. I miss her everyday. She was my companion.
Sorry for the loss. One of the hardest things I've ever done was standing there, holding a halter while the vet put one of our horses down. The barn my daughters work at has a horse with Wobblers, albeit a very mild case. Very Sad.
I am so sorry for your and your mom's loss. Thank you for sharing your story. I had heard of Wobblers, but didn't know much about it. Education is so important. I really appreciate learning this.
Yes I watch Yvonne in the Netherlands Friesian horses everyday for years now. Risey has wobblers and the day probably will come to have to put him down but for now she is working with him and we all love him so much. He was raised by a Friesian mare that lost her foal and Riseys mother died in birth. Risey is the same color as your Fendi, raised up with a beautiful Friesian. Anyway you did what was needed and he is now running free, being goofy. God bless you for loving horses.
Zoey, this brought me to tears. He seemed like such a sweet boy and he had a wonderful home with you guys. I hope you cherish the good moments and only look back at how much you and him were loved. Wobblers is such an unfortunate disease, but you gave him the best life. Rest in peace Fendi.
I'm following a UA-cam Channel "Friesian Horses" and the creator Yvonne has a 3 year old gelding who was diagnosed with Wobblers. Right now he is happy and is just a pasture horse for young foals. She was given the advice of some vets that told her to put him down, on the other hand, there were a couple of vets that said to give him time until he is no longer comfortable. He is monitored regularly and she has had some treatments to help him feel better. He isn't broken to saddle but she started him with some liberty work. It was touch and go in the beginning but he has adapted and is happy being with his buddy, a Friesian filly and he is doing well. So she will let him tell her when he is ready to leave. She will know when it is time to do that. She is giving him pellets with supplements to keep him in good flesh. His sire is Jazz and the mare is of Polansky breeding. He is a beautiful horse with three white stockings and a star and snip down his face. His name is Rising Star JK, but Risey is what he is called. He's been chipped. I am so sorry about your horse, I hope the image comes out okay. Take care and the best to you and yours!
Zoey I am so sorry!! I remember watching him at Estes and seeing his true passion and talent!! He clearly also knew how loved he was, I saw your mom beaming after her rounds!! Run free and enjoy all the green grass in heaven Fendi!
So devestating. Rest in peace, Fendi. I hope you and your mom are ok. I am glad that he will be used to research neurological diseases. Thank you for sharing this geart renching video.
Awww RIP stunning Fendi, how sad is this! I'm so sorry for your loss, this is the first time I have seen your videos and he looked like such a happy relaxed boy who so obviously adored you. I'm so very sorry!
The spine is huge, backbone of the body, same with nerves. Lots of pain. Y'all did what God wanted you to do. I'm glad his body went to learning. 👍🤠🐎🇺🇸❣️
Omg this made me cry it is the hardest thing to hear but I understand and went through this earlier this year it is so frustrating but remember that all creatures are created by God who cares for them it’s hard to understand why sometimes I’m praying for you but heaven got another amazing and loved horse I’m truly so sorry Zoey.
I’m so sorry for this diagnosis. The UA-cam channel Friesland Horses Follow the Herd has an ongoing story of a horse with Wobbler. He’s a warm blood that was raised by a Friesland after her foal & his mother didn’t survive. His owner is trying to save him, but we understand that may not be.
I lost my 24 year old horse recently. She got cancer that spread down into her bowels that then caused her to colic. This really helped me understand why putting her down was the best option. We only want the best for our animals. I didn’t ride her for long as she was new and was bought as an older horse and we planned on having her a lot longer than we did. But if I could go back and do it all over again I would. I miss you Slinky🕊❤
I am so sorry for you. He seems to have been an amazing horse. I hope you can take comfort in knowing that you gave him a great life and that he is now free and happy in heaven, waiting for you when the time comes for you and your mom to be reunited with him.

My heart is breaking for you. What a horrible diagnosis for such a beautiful horse. I went through 30 years of training horses without ever knowing about Wobblers and in the past 15 years, I’ve seen maybe 12-15 horses being diagnosed with it.😢 you’re a strong person and Fendi seems like the best fit for you and your mom.
I feel so bad for your loss. Your story is beautiful and so was Fendi. Rest easy knowing that he is running and bucking to his heart's desire and he will be waiting for you, and your mom,, at the rainbow bridge.

So sorry!! Its tough for sure. I had a horse with wobblers and epm diagnosed at age 4. Severe stenosis of 1, 3, 6 and 7, but passed myelogram somehow. I kept him going 10 years and finally put him down with him still happy and going. The falling is definitely scary, but it can be managed with diet change (no oats, sugar, no starch, 10,000IU of Vit E a day), 24/7 turnout, change of routine (lots of practice having to think where his feet are going) chiro/acupuncture/massage and even stem cell (all the things we did to keep my guy happy and going for 10 years, even a little riding, but nothing hard). In case anyone just had this diagnosis, it can be scary, but can be carefully managed. So sorry Fendi didnt make it. 😢 Cervical stenosis sucks!!!
I remeber when Deeno was getting diagnosed and wobblers was what we thought it was at first, it was terrifying. I couldn't even imagine what would've happened if he had wobblers, it's such a horrible thing. I'm so sorry that happened to Fendi, it's terrible💔

What a lot of people don’t understand is the decision you are placed in. I had to euthanize my four year old horse due to advanced wobblers a few years ago. CSU did his myelogram after I noticed wandering lameness, a different leg each week and it didn’t seem distal so I had my vet film his neck and we knew right away. The actual reality you have is this- your horse is asleep and you can leave him that way and he will never have a day of pain or fear again or be dangerous to people you care about. Or, you wake him up watch them slowly decline and be a danger to your farrier, the people that handle him every day cleaning stalls, feeding, turning him out. Talking about Rising Star- every owner has unique situations their horses live in and budgets. Another horrific reality is the cost of a horse. A horse Iike Fendi jumping and showing at that level is insured for mortality loss for probably $60,000 or more. If you decide to make them a pasture pet they will cancel your renewal and you just lost the ability to buy another horse and you will probably have to euthanize him in a year anyway. It sucks and was horrible to be in that position but every single vet and trainer I spoke to advised not to wake him up for safety reasons, liability reasons bc other people handle your horse and now you know he could fall on them, and spares them suffering . They are prey animal with fear based responses - losing their balance , falling and tripping creates fear and could get them hurt in turn out. It is the right decision to make.

Most horse insurance won't cover wobbler's. They have an exclusion clause for that and EPM.

Is Fendi related to Secretariat? He had wobbles, I believe I read that years ago.
He had laminitis. Seattle Slew had wobblers.
This also sounds extremely similar to shivers.
What causes wobblers?
