Thank you for the excellent review of the SG906 MAX drone. I flew my SG906 MAX yesterday for the first time in a congested area where obstacle avoidance wouldn't let me go anywhere but backwards, sideways, and up. I had a nice flight out a few hundred meters and then did a return to home. I canceled the RTH using the RTH button on the controller when the drone was a few meters away from landing. I then noticed that the obstacle avoidance was now turned off and wouldn't turn back on until I landed and took off again. It looks like doing a RTH and then canceling the RTH will turn off the obstacle avoidance if desired as a workaround to turning off obstacle avoidance. It would be nice if there was a setting in the app to turn off, or, on obstacle avoidance. I was only able to get ~15 minutes of flight time before getting a low battery warning. I got my 2 battery SG906 MAX from TomTop for $216 with a shipping time of 7 days to the USA. IMO, overall, the SG906 MAX is a nice budget drone.

I actually like this remote better than the classic MJX style. This RC has a much stronger phone holder, and doesn't rely on AA batteries. You're one of my favorite Quad reviewers!

Hello. Mr. teacher. I love your UA-cam lesson. Your detail explanation very helpful for me. I watched your youtube more than 3 times. I flew my SG906 MAX but regretfully remote controller signal detecting length is shoter than SG906 PRO2 what I have lost 1 month before.
I learned to fly in Australia where most pilots fly Mode 1. While I realize that this can probably be flown using mode 1 with the app on a smart phone, it would limited. If the controller was available in Mode 1 or had the option to change to Mode 1, I would definitely buy one.
Great review. I like that you spend most of the time doing test flight. Knowing something about video, the “stutter” is due to 25fps and the fact it is transmitted via wifi. Do you have a review of a drone with 4k 30fps camera?
I just got the SG906 max beast. From BangGood. The controller only took 1 charge then quit working so I guess I'll have to only use my phone and the app virtual sticks? I can't read the book until I make an enlargement of it. My model is dull grey but has red and green lights on all four legs that signal calibration off or on (no beeps only start up chime) Unlike the demo zone I'm confined to my yard where WE HAVE TALL TREES which may fool the obstacle avoid cam? Contacting the manufacturer seems difficult so I don't know how to get spare parts or a working RC
I got the one charge remote too! I just opened it up with props screwdriver and inside IS NOTHING but circuit boards. no visible batteries!! I have ordered another remote from ALI EXPRESS $15-35.
Wonderful comprehensive video! Since you've flown this drone and the SJRC F11 4K, which do you think is better video wise? It looks like this Max 3, even with gimbal and EIS, still has lots of shaking.
Thanks! My first impression is the F11 has better EIS. It does say the Max has EIS but it does not seem to be as good as the F11 and I'm not so convinced about the yaw axis on the gimbal and the recording is 4K on the F11 but 1080p on the Max no matter how I set up the camera.

Looks like there is a slider on the left side of the app. You can probably use that to move the gimbal up and down, and probably a lot smoother than with the controller buttons

Just got my Max, minus the obstacle avoidance module. I like this controller a little more, with built-in battery, but only 500 mAh isn't great. AA alkaline batteries have a capacity rating of over 2,500 mAh, so the 4 in the old Pro/Pro 2 controller would have 10 times the power with new batteries. More power could make more transmitter power. Which controller do you prefer Pete? 🤔
Thanks for the excellent detail in this review. I really appreciate it. I was really disappointing to hear that the Obstacle Avoidance device does NOT function in the Return To Home mode ... seems to me that would be its PRIMARY function when it is flying back without transmitter control. I suppose that it is of some value while under transmitter control but I always though that it is the pilots responsibility not to run into objects when flying. Also, I have heard that there really is no EIS function on this quad as advertised. Some of the SD card video I've seen from it would appear to confirm that ... a 3 axis gimbal PLUS EIS should produce exceptionally smooth video. Again, thanks for the fine review ... this really provides important information and guidance for folks looking to purchase some of these machines. Please do keep up the good work.

@@RCEscape That just might come true. Some of the race quads are running on Li-ion batteries & are getting anywhere from 15 -20 minute flight times especially if you do long range 😊👍

this is another great review and vid from you sir. im looking to upgrade from my SG906 pro soon but im not wanting the obstacle avoidance feature, there is an SG908 out with 3 axis gimbal and same range as the 906 max at 1200 metres and 800 metres camera wifi. i think i will go for the 908 as its selling for similar price as the 906 pro on banggood.

Camera looks good bro..oh yea I sold my f11 pro 4k as it's stuck on 120 meters height and only 8.3 megapixel camera as the beast drone has 12.3 megapixel camera so I think I will get one of these for a fun drone and I got the mavic mini 2 last week awesome little drone great review as always I di share with my drone club hope you and yours are all well...😉

I think you should fly where there is no wall to collide.

Can a 64G micro SD work on it? I have one on Sandisk A2. And can it do sound recording? I found your drone video was no sound.

I have a drone just like that but video footage is very unstable. What app are you using? How did you get that stable footage?

In the app, there is a huge settings icon.
Yours don't have a light come on once fully charged?
dose connecting to 5 g work, I have always been told it dosnt,and will only work with WIFI, thanks
