@@schwags1969 Something like a bestiary of alien species, cyborgs and genetically modified killing machines.. from Red Dwarf and beyond. Working on some other videos right now, but those soon follow!
I always liked the idea that humanity had survived in various forms on the numerous planets they'd colonised and these guys were just unaware of it, floating around in a part of space that was sparsely inhabited. That always struck me as something that could have worked as a kind of tragicomic reveal at the end of the series.
Don't know where you got that idea from. It's pretty well stated in the books and TV show that any life on any planet is incredibly rare and alien life non existant. They did get into a "monster of the week" phase around series 5 but never once did they suggest it was common to find human colonised life on any planet anywhere.
@@Wildeheart79 Since you took a snarky tone with me from the get go, I will reply in kind. Your reading comprehension is poor. At no point did I mention aliens. Instead, I bought up the idea that perhaps humanity had colonised other parts of the galaxy and created numerous civilisations that prospered elsewhere, outside the area Red Dwarf found itself in. It's not as if they don't find themselves encountering research stations, industrial facilities and various other sites that indicate that there have been far reaching exporations into space by humanity in their past. They have also encountered rogue simulant androids on a number of occasions. Androids who have been at war with humanity on at least one occasion, perhaps many more, given the vast time spans the timeline of the series covers. Who were they fighting? If not some organised form of humanity. It would be bizarre of them to continue in their anti human crusade, if they hadn't encountered humans, for what? Countless millenia?Similarly, Gelfs often speak of encountering other humans in the present tense. Meaning that the Red Dwarf boys are not the only people they have encountered. You only get an idea of what happened to humanity from the perspective of the surviving Red Dwarf crew, whose knowledge of what happened after Lister's time in suspended animation is limited. Further to this, space is very large. Our own galaxy is about 100,000 lights across. It's quite possible that the entire area they have travelled through is "only" a few hundred or thousands of light years across, and that human activity in that region is limited. This is still an unimaginably large expanse by any reasonable measure. It could have lead them to develop a potentially incorrect idea of humanity's fate. Although the numerous artefacts and signs of a pretty extensive, sophisticated, space faring civilisation should have made them a bit curious. Though, perhaps like you, they are decidely incurious, and not open to conjecture.
Well, the area they’re in seems to be filled with killer cyborgs, hostile created life forms, insane robots/computers, dangerous scientific experiments and Hitler. Really, not a very good neighbourhood now that I think about it.
Another slam dunk as always! You know something this channel feels like a renegade under-appreciated division of the Templin Institute sporting that exhausted Red Dwarf to tongue and cheek humour within the mythos. Anyhow keep up the good work!
My all-time favourite Red Dwarf lines: 'Go to blue alert.' 'Are you sure? It means changing the bulb.' Second favourite: 'No officer with false teeth shall attempt oral sex in zero gravity.'
Haha yes. For me its (I might be paraphrasing here) "What a superb piece of art Legion, pray tell, what do you call it" "The light switch" "Then you wouldnt be willing to part with it?" "No, I need it to turn the lights on and off"
Love this. I've always felt that, apart from the soul-crushing loneliness, weird swirly things in space, and the occasional genetic monster or mad scientist trying to kill you, Red Dwarf would be a pretty cushy place to live. Great work, keep it up! If you make a video about Starbug I will love your channel even more!!!
I can't believe your channel is so small, your content is fantastic! Keep it up! oh- and definitely try scraping together more Red Dwarf videos! I love them the most x
Red Dwarf has been surely asking for its own video game for decades? Just imagine it: the player controls Lister or Cat, Rimmer as a 2nd player (if we go co-op 2 player?) Holly gives the starting Tutorial and handles map screen or the Red Dwarf equivalent of a Pip Boy (YES! They have actually shown a Holly watch that can be worn on the wrist for mobile access!) You have sections moving the Red Dwarf star system to star system. Separate Star Bug section for exploring planet surfaces, maybe ship combat using laser cannons etc. Then on foot stuff for exploration and scavenging/salvaging, on foot missions, combat using the Bazookoid etc. Red Dwarf is overflowing with amazingly creative and usually hilarious characters that the Boys From The Dwarf have met and interacted with over the decades. I get that Red Dwarf is probably AS well known as it once was, especially among younger gamers. But as long as we have decent gameplay loops and generally appealing content it would have the potential to bring more attention to Red Dwarf in general raising interest in new TV series or movies and binge watching old series on Netflix/DVD etc. The US loved and still love Monty Python and Red Dwarf is at least as good (to me it is loads better!) Sci Fi/Space games are MASSIVE at the minute with Elite Dangerous, Astroneer, X4, Everspace, No Man's Sky, Eve, Outer Wilds etc and Starfield being massively hyped and on its way next year sometime. Just think how incredible a proper, officially backed game based on Red Dwarfs enormous lore could be? With its incredible comedy writing, its genuinely interesting Sci fi storylines, amazing well liked main characters (that would be voiced by the real guys and maybe motion captured too?) As long as it was created with an eye obviously on the biggest fans (like us all here on your channel!) but also in a way that would appeal to those new to Red Dwarf. It's humour appeals to every generation. Just think of how many Star Wars and Star Trek games there have been over the years? Obviously Star Wars has always been a huge franchise. But in general for the vast majority of time Star Trek was just a cheap n cheerful US TV show with a minimal budget and often minimal acting skills. Red Dwarf has the potential to be a fantastic game as it is such a solid foundation of storyline and characters. Just imagine a game kinda like Elite Dangerous but that's actually fun and funny to play, with more soul, more life and more character? Where we get to play as Lister and that will play out a bit like a series of Red Dwarf. Obviously Doug Naylor does the script with input from Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn and Danny John-Jules adding jokes, voice acting and general silliness. Now THAT is my dream! All I need now is a BIG lottery win and I'd @#£%in do it! It would be my way of giving back a little of the love and joy Red Dwarf has given me these last rapidly approaching 35 YEARS! (ohhh and how lovely would that be if launched on its birthday! A shame that games nowadays take several YEARS to make haha! But it'd be done before it's 40th!)
Sorry, I've had a few commemorating a friends premature passing (he was only 43!) So I'm feeling a bit melancholic tinged with nostalgia. So apologies for the WALL of text, never been good with punctuation. But my dream of a wonderful Red Dwarf game holds true and that dream has been with me for decades.

Sir, if you read in to the back story of kryten he was not spared lol the whole reason the nova 5 crashed was because while in stasis, he was alone, bored, had cleaned the ship from top to bottom. He then spotted a microscopic piece of dust on the console XD poured water over it to clean it, which crashed the ship killing the crew. He was NOT immune lol Also, the backstory behind the nova 5 is even funnier, during the future COKE / PEPSI wars, coke put a big DRINK COKE COLA sign on the moon, so pepsi was going along and blowing up suns so it spelt out DRINK PEPSI for millenia lol...the nova 5 was one of those ships.
nova 5 was sent to blow up a star with many other ships so that the slogan coke adds life would be written in space and viewable from earth. if u go bi the dimension that the book red dwarf infinity welcomes careful drivers is set in.
