Thank You Laura, for this beautiful tutorial on making placemats. They are so elegant looking the black with the red flange really sets off the black print. I can see this technique made in so many different occasions.
Laura, what beautiful placemats! Thank you for the link to the placement foam; haven’t seen these with the scalloped borders. I’d like to thank you again for the very detailed tutorials you produce. You always discuss so many details and point out exactly what you’re doing, such as the stitching around the scallops and which side the 1/4” seam faces in the black border. Funny, because I rewound the video to see which way it faced and listen to you again. Got about 30 seconds past that and, of course you discussed it twice while showing with your fingers which way the 1/4” seam faced. I had to laugh; OF COURSE you would repeat the details and point it out!! You aways do! Such detailed videos and I’m super thankful for the time and effort you give to producing them! Always spot on!! Thank you!! While you were making your elegant ones I was already wondering what they’d look like in Kaffe fabric for spring, lol! Might just have to make a set!
Happy New Year to you folks. I may have to check out those pre-cut placemat forms. Saves a lot of measuring and cutting, making for fast completion of gifts or charity donations.
A beautiful project to start the year! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas Laura! It was crazy here in Buffalo with the Blizzard but we made it through!
This was excellent!a couple of years ago I took a class on this, and the directions were so terrible, I still have 4 placemats sitting in a pile . Thank you for sharing this!
How could we sew the peek-a-boo red onto the black binding to make a flange binding strip before we topstitch? That would eliminate gluing or pinning the red strip under the black and hoping it won't shift! Great tutorial!
Good evening Laura, Beautiful fabric that has definitely been needing to come out from hiding and go on show, with that red hint of a filet, that just finishes it off perfectly. Beautiful mats that look more high end and costly than they probably were. Hope you have a wonderful 2023 Laura, because i know i am looking forward to all your new ideas. That turned out so pretty and I loved that little bit of red as it just made it perfect for me. I see it is Ivo's 2 year anniversary on his channel and it seemed like it was not that long ago when you made that so very nice looking black chef's jacket for him on his one year anniversary.
Thank you, Laura , for yet again another informative video. Could you please provide us with the name of the fabric glue you use? Perhaps a link for it? Thank you for your time and consideration and Happy New Year to you and yours as well!

Thank you for this. Is there a special needle to use for sewing on fusible or fabric that has been glued?
