I think Xal'atath might be Y'shaarj
you spelt saga wrong in your description btw :D thanks for the video.
one small correction - the final raid of vanilla was Naxx :)
Could be a interesting Theory of Y'shaarj being reincarnated as Xal'atath. Another could be that Xal'atath was one of the lesser old gods.
Because Xal'atath is the goat?
I think Xalatath might be Evitel
Need more Evi sarcasm bits in the Weekly Reset. I laughed, I cried.
This. Evi is reality. Tali off in fantasy shill land. Good cop. Bad cop. Good entertainment.
5:31, made me laugh so hard! How do you get shit everywhere like that? Lmao
@@allthatishere They show that picture in almost every video and have since before they started having kids together (that pic should have discouraged that, lol),
@@MatthewTheWanderer That's pretty funny lol, tbh I only just just found this channel like two days ago
@@allthatishere Oh, I see, lol. Yeah, they have a LOT of recurring gags/catch phrases like that. But, that is part of their appeal, I think.
"I forget about it all the time" ... 11/10 on the Punny Scale. I chuckled
As a horde member in the Ashenvale PvP event, one of the Keeper of the Grove bosses was named Larodar. They're definitely doing this on purpose
What’s the reference?
@@tholos2758 He's a boss in the current raid.
He was also a random hero in warcraft 3.
So a company known to rehash and reuse assets from previous games, this is an easter egg?
@itouchbuttons maybe play a different game?
16:20 Nerubians? In Ahn'Qiraj? Tali, those were Qiraji and Silithids!
Earlier you also mentioned Stormwind fell in the Second War, but really it fell in the First.
I guess he still hears the voices whispering in his head.
Evi's section this week was 🔥 from puns, to delivery, to pacing. Kudos to all involved!
oh no not tali being back at saying harbinger wrong! we've gone through this tali!! hahaha
Final raid was Naxx, Tali
Yep, my guild got about 6/14 before Burning Crusade released. The big thing about Naxx was to get Atiesh so you and your group could port directly to Karazhan.
Ahn'Qiraj is also distinctly *not* full of Nerubians, but qiraji, which are a different thing
doesnt fit the narrative must not be true :D
Wasn't expecting a little Outer Wilds OST at the end there, but it always brings such peace and good vibes.
thank you for breaking this down. I know I'm missing out, but I don't miss Classic, and I'm skipping on SOD specifically (even though my guild went nanners on it during this lull) because Classic gameplay is so not my cup of coffee. I'm very much not a fan of retail lore being planted in SOD, so I can't really experience it firsthand without investing time in Classic. Meh. So this saves me time! Thank you again!
ALL OF THIS! I really dislike the idea of lore popping up in Classic. I have no interest in hearing about Classic at all, let alone having to hear about it for the sake of lore bits. As much as people bemoan Blizzard hiding relevant lore in books and such (which I read), I’m not sure why this is being touted as such a great idea.
Yup. I'm all for Blizz putting more story in-game rather than forcing us to buy novels to fill things in. But can they just please put retail story in the retail game? I also have zero interest in anything Classic and would love to see this story, I don't know, in the version of the game where it's actually relevant?
@@zuggernaut618 Putting it in a game is a lot different than books. In the end you are paying for classic with your retail subscription.
Right. Like when we asked for more story content to be delivered in game, as a retail guy this idea of story being dropped in classic is a far far faaaaaaaar stretch from what we all asked for originally.
@@NanoLT yes and Hearthstone is free to play. That doesn't mean I'd like for the next expansion plot starter to be introduced in Hearthstone... Classic is another game. It may be included in the subscription but why should I play another game (especially one I don't have any interest) to understand the current game story ?
I wonder if Shadow Priests might get some special dialogue with Xal'atath during the War Within ether using the Black Blade of the Empire or other Black Empire Transmog Weapons where she knows the Shadow Priest Hero who once wield her blade dagger during Legion.
after recrafting Tyr he has a special dialogue if a paladin wears Tyr's Hand, so probably
SoD is totally not for me, but I love a cool cross-game ARG that links the communities together. I hope they do more like that. It feels very much like something WoW would do in the glory days
I say this as someone that really really loves the mouse pet: It should not have been the transmog month gift. It's adorable, but that's not end-month I conquered my to-do list material. Also still waiting patiently for our Tuskarr...w a i t i n g
Tuskarr for our Alliance buddies and Gnolls for the Horde.
@@franji4998gnoll gonna lie, I would totally main one of those slimy dogs
@@franji4998 lol don't take my hordie Tuskarr like that nuuuu Tuskarr for all
Good video, but I have to point out that the last vanilla raid was naxxramas and in AQ we faced the silithid and the qiraji, not the nerubians
You sure know how to make my work day infinitely better. Thank You
There is a really interesting dagger* from MoP. Also the Klaxxiy tell you (when you're exalted with them) that they worship Y'Shaarj (SoO, duh)
*"Ra'sha's Sacrificial Dagger: Use: A faint whispering can be heard inside of your own head. The dagger bids you to thrust it deep into your heart. Do you dare comply?"
blizz probably watching this video and thinking "fuck why didn't we do that"
Final raiid is Naxx not AQ?
I like to think that when we finished Legion we yeeted the artifact weapons into the sword and the bounce made them fly wherever
That would be so amazing being a SoD player this is EPIC !!!
I think this is the best pre. X pack ramp up that Blizz has ever done.
That Outer Wilds music always hit the spot.
Using SoD to flesh out narrrative for TWW was an absolute stroke of genius
season of discovery is not the "what if" that people expected. Tbh, its more like a WoW director's cut and I love it.
If the Old Gods can see multiple futures through the Void, then Y’shaarj could’ve foreseen the possibility of his death. It makes sense that he would create a Horcrux-like item as insurance.
I keep picturing Evi filming that segment with Tali constantly cutting and describing how he would deliver those lines lol
Great job tho, we could use more Evi!
Downloading this to watch on my flight from SLC to London. Cheers, y’all!
Utah allows WoW... I thought is was a Joseph Smith Simulator they played.
@@RealJohnnyGuillotine perfection. No notes 🫡😂
@@JakeSezz Have a safe flight much love homie
"See, I told you it wasn't weird to be in love with a voice in a dagger, because now she's a real life girl!"
I think you mean "A real life POSSESSED CORPSE", Tali.
The model literally switches from dead high elf to "living" void elf.
It's like when Banshee Sylvanas re-possessed her own corpse, except void instead of necro.
Blizzard really hates putting retail lore in the actual retail game don't they?
If that's Xal'atath in SoD I think the idea that it's just a reference could also hold significant weight.
If SoD is canon and we owe her a favor back in classic, it kinda completely recontextualizes her giving us up to N'zoth, and retroactively explains why our character doesn't seem surprised by it (aside from a lack of facial animations). Maybe we knew it was coming all along, but were fine with it because we owed her a favor? Maybe she left us with N'zoth on neutral terms with us.
*Maybe she won't actually be a villain in the next expansion.* (or at least, not a black and white blatant villain, but maybe she's even an ally occasionally through the story) A Harbinger isn't necessarily a bad thing, as scary as the name sounds, a Harbinger is just a messenger, or even more generously, a warning. Maybe she's trying to warn us about the void... or maybe... the War Within doesn't literally refer to where the expansion is, but also the subject of the expac.
Maybe she's warning us about the light, and the War Within are the forces of the light turning on us for treating the void amicably.
The best part about all of this is for the first time in a long while, Blizz have made a story that's interesting enough to theorize and guess over, and that any idea could be equally as possible. They've really managed to recapture a good bit of that old WoW magic
Quick reminder that ahnqiraj wasnt the last raid, and it had qiraji, not nerubians. Although they are related enough to each other and to the old gods, as are the Klaxxi.
I hate how blizz just retcons items around with no explanation. Like how the naga stole the Tidestone of Golganneth from the middle of Dalaran in patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara, but it was never explained, just somehow Azshara walks into Dalaran and steals one of the most powerful artifacts in the entire universe and no one notices... the Tidestone of Golganneth would be more heavily protected than Epsteins client list. It's one of the five pillars of creation that the titans used to CREATE WORLDS...
Xalatath controlling the Dark riders would be a cool connection
Me playing The War Within and meeting Xal'atath:
Her: "Remember that favor you owe me?"
Me: "I'm a Vanilla player but didn't play SoD, so I owe you squat shit lady."
Playing from the "villain" perspective would make the game so much more interesting lore wise. Geting engaged in the their story and having an insight what their motivations are. Just like good old w3. Give scenarios like that..
Evitel's bit this video was 10/10 - more please!
OHBOY MIDNIGHT Weekly Reset?!
Sweeeet.
I've honestly never had an issue with not having enough flight stones, but I'm also someone who does all the story quests and events when they first come out. As a raider who does more than raiding i don't see the Flightstone issue. Crests are always what im struggling with.
what they need to do is find a way to harness all the extra challenge points you would have gotten. I basically finished the challenge log playing super casually within the first day by jumping onto a few different alts just messing around leveling up or doing world content. I think I did a few random dungeons for fun.
Holly mentioned the 10.2.6 patch will have an event that's available to both Classic & Retail players. Maybe there's going to be some more story overlaps there.
isn't naxx the final raid of vanilla?
Yup
Yeah, not to mention that there were no nerubians in AQ
@@metal_monocle7334 probably because the Nerubians only reside in Azjol-Nerub.
Removing crest cap is super useless since at this point in the seasln you will never ever be able to spend the cap anyway. I had no idea they are still capped.
well seeing that old gods can affect timeways too(WotA novel is based on that) it would be nothing new to mid high tier old void creature to be able to do that in smaller scale. Also naxxramas40 was the final raid...?
As someone who doesn't play SoD, this is just like getting retail story beats in a book. I think that I'd even prefer for these story elements to come from a book, as I'm infinitely more likely to read a book than to attempt to play Season of Discovery.
Here's hoping that it doesn't tie in too closely to War Within.
Blizzard released something.
And Evitel took that personally.
Don't forget about the Mantid from MoP:
"...originally descended from a group of aqir - insect-like spawn of the Old Gods - that settled in the southern parts of ancient Kalimdor."
"Following the resurrection of the Heart of Y'Shaarj by Garrosh Hellscream, the Klaxxi allied themselves with the Warchief. Their paragons took up guard beneath Orgrimmar to protect the heart of their dark former god, but were ultimately defeated during the Siege of Orgrimmar."
I feel it strengthens the theory that Xal'atath is Y'shaarj! Or at least related somehow.
Yay.... it's time for my weekly run of the "Tali can't say Harbinger correctly" drinking game ❤
If you're right, it will be the first time I ever begin to consider playing Classic. This sounds like a great twist.
16:37 The highly, highly nostalgic '14.3 Billion Years' is an interesting music choice for this segment.
Evi's inability to remember my awesome watch is not indicative of my love of my awesome watch
Blizz trolling Evitel 😁
And, yes, the pets are the very first things I purchase from the Trading Post. Followed by mounts.
Now classic would be a huge retcon factory
Wasn't final raid of Vanilla Naxxaramas?
Xa’latath being Y’shaarj might explain Blizzard’s recent push towards Pandaria related content. Hmmmmm 🤔
Xal'atath: Be warned Champion... You... OWE. Me...
I give them credit for using SoD for even more than gameplay experiments. Using it as an experiment with story telling is great. This is like seeing Sephiroth on his travels. Did you NEED NEED to see it? No. However, it can offer small level insight and just feel cool.
Knaifu? Surely you mean baeblade.
Yes it is our Xal'atath, because she does say to the player: "there you go, being boring again" as if she's met us before.
Definitely would have preferred the Sky captain outfit as the monthly trader log reward, over the cute mouse.
Im pretty sure that for Blizzard sod is like a laboratory,a big beta test for a lot of little thing before adding the new stuff/little feature/idea on the main wow.
To be fair there are still voices inside heart of Y'shaarj, so I'm gonna put a doubt on the reservation within a claw theory.
I play druid main and don't have a single level 70 alt, so I'm not fussed about mounts. I collect druid forms ahead of transmog. And I collect battle pets.
I'm the person who is happy with this month's reward.
I said SoD and Retail should do a convergence event and I thought it was gonna be Emerald dream, Im happier to think it could be Xal'atath.
evi is killing it this episode
Have your audio settings changed? That mic (SM7B?) can be so much richer but it's just incredibly tinny and the S's sound grating. I feel like it might be your settings. Sorry I'm just distracted.
Crasy thought: It has been said that SOD players characters will go "somewhere" after SOD. What if we get to send our SOD Chars to The War Within?
Jesus fuck I hope not.
"March is the beginning of Spring!" The Southern Hemisphere sends its greetings through gritted teeth
You guys just need to realign your months
I'm fundamentally broken, I guess. I always go pet, mount, toy, them transmog when buying stuff in the Trading Post.
Putting my nickel down: Xal'atath is the Void-affected parts of Azeroth's worldsoul that the Titans purged.
Oh, I never thought about if that shadowy figure in the Dawn of the infinite dungeon was Xal'atah then they she would be in the past.
Do you think there will be another legendary in the next patch?
Evi ATE THAT VIDEO and left no crumbs hahaha awesome guys
Evitel I am WEARING my watch transmog!! Me and my best mouse friend Teele have never felt so attacked in our lives! T_T
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but this is the second vid I've watched now on this channel that has Outer Wilds music in it. Is there a Tali playthrough of Outer Wilds out there?
I am simply in love with you weekly and more often appearing here! ❤
It felt like adding insult to injury that the Trading Post pet is a recolor, not even a unique model!
Tali, both Blackwing lair and Naxx came after AQ40.
I absolutely love the idea of using time travel and stuff in the story like this - making 'remakes' canonical sequels to their originals and all - but I am a little annoyed that I'd have to play classic if I wanted to fully experience the story.
Thankfully, so far it seems to just be minor hints in crafting questlines that can be 100% experienced in article write-ups, but hopefully it doesn't go beyond that outside of retail.
It'd also be weird when SoD is over and we lose it, if it's too important
What if, instead of actually time travelling/etc, it turns out Xal'Atath is actually just giving you false memories? Like they're injected just before you help them posses the High elf in order to convince you to help them by making you believe that SoD happened (but didn't?).
First things I buy every month are the pets, so yea.. I'm happy with the mouse. Nevertheless, I would've preferred the mount to be the overall reward as well as the mounts are usually more expensive than the pets.
should have made it that you can buy those boxes but with crests making you able to buy chest for crests and flightstones which increase the ilvl of the gear, instead of current 441 ilvl from chests make it 483 with aspect crests and flightstones and the others too
Instead of a mouse, probably people would be more interested in Class Trading Post Rewards like, Shalamayne for Warriors, Tome of the Shivarra Coven for Warlocks, etc... silly idea I know, but I guess people might prefer stuff like this than the little mouse.
Taliesin and that darn word, Harbinger lmao
Taliesin: I have juicy stuff
*shows picture of Xal'atath*
im actually using the watch transmog. its on my mage along with the waste of time and morchie's/chromie's timeworn/timespun shoulderpads (one on each shoulder). works good with my chronomancer transmog
At this point I'm pretty sure that Xal'atath is Nyarlathotep from the Lovecraft Mythos. It's almost a 1:1 match.
Yeah I've always said this. Like a cosmic traveller. I've always got the vibe of her being like the daughter of a really important void lord off on her gap year
6:06 account wide currency for DF would be a massive boon, my Storm Sigil and Untapped Forbidden Knowledge are just sitting on my main doing nothing.
I think N'Zoth is hanging out in Xalatath's old dagger and all we fought was a meat puppet with some magic void goo sacs that casted stuff at us.
I agree that nzoth is just chillin in the dagger, but where did the dagger even go?
@@hobosnake1Wrathion has it, no? Which means...
...Oh no.
@@Anergyne What are you saying? It's not like it's a legendary artifact that whispers secrets to its owner from whoever is trapped inside the....

It's a self fulfilling prophecy... We release Xalatath, she goes back to the dawn of time to ensure that we release her but along the way helps us to ensure we have means to release her. Remember this all actually happened already we just didn't see it but how did Xalatath get back? The infinite helped her.
Wait a minute, she isn't a High Elf? She's just living in the body of one? Blizzard could have picked any race and they went with Void Elves? My god, the dwarves were right there.
That mouse pet monthly reward is the biggest joke of the expansion😂
I'm so excited! This is the most fun I think I've ever had in wow.
That for sure this month Trading Post was a hot mess, like really. 800 or something tenders for a full set, 700 for the mounth, and the rest not to mention. Who like Tmog collecting and such, this month gonna be a duzzee.
I think this Is better than the "we are family"
Holy.........Priest and Paladin...............this is ludicrous! If Blizzard is actually dead serious about all of this AND can indeed successfully execute ALL of this.......then this would be literally 10 years in the making AND the REAL reason why they wanted to hold onto the soon-to-be "Classic" WoW in the first place! If they can pull this thing off, then FFXIV will be yet another MMORPG that thought that they could destroy WoW's hold only to be completely and utterly forgotten like "Star Wars The Old Republic" and countless other "We all thought that that game was going to destroy WoW" MMORPG category!
The final raid of vanilla is Naxxramas, not the Temple of Ahn'qiraj.
I figured the trading post was all more Mardi-Gras related. The masks, the peacock mount and the colors are all very Mardi-Gras themed IMO. Forget the Irish, in 'Murica it's Mardi-Gras season. :P (Just kidding we love the Irish >_>)
Y'Shaarj, Pandaria, Pandamonium, letters to an unresponsive Lili Stormstout who was off doing pirate stuff...
Great story telling Tali. Keep at it and eventually you'll evolve into our Gandalf.
Blizzard writers are watching this taking notes like yeh yeh thats the plan
