Hi Olly they should have left wellbrook as it was in the painting..you have made a fantastic job of it. ....you must get sick of the fly tipping one of the farmers up here turned the fly tippers pickup over with the load All...😊😊😊40%
Great video again, you never fail to keep us hooked. There is always someone who has to spoil the countryside by dumping there crap for the sake of either waiting a few days or travel a few extra miles. The law and council need to clamp down on it. If an area is well known for fly tipping the they should put a trail cam up to catch them . Fairly inexpensive but work a treat.
What I would do with that bend is get some new gates and put plenty of reflective material on them and a reflective arrow showing there’s a bend, anyway great video Olly!!!
How about a few scrap wide tractor rears filled with concrete or pick up some old duals wheels can screw reflective marker plates to the tyres and ballast the duals you can move at harvest and use the poacher block for access
Move the gateway back and stick something in the gap that will really fubar someone's car like a tank trap ie dragons teeth! Ultimately it's down to the council to put in the measures to slow the traffic! Ultimately it's down to the council to install traffic management solutions
Blinkin wet Olly! Our fields are bogged out at the mo! Gateway, either move ya gates, make a set from armco barriers that,d swing open or make em so can lift off and into the field with either a front linkage or merlo head or even pallet forks.
Hi Olly get shevrons on a post, we had the same problem, put down concrete lego blocks but they still ran into them, the shevrons pointing the direction seems to work. Well with the idiots in my area anyway. Have a bit time of with the Family just do reruns, you need it m8
I've got a ground breaking idea..........put up a sign 100 metres or so back the road saying SLOW DOWN sharp left hand bend, then put some reflectors on your gates. we had thunder aswell wednesday night..... absolutely shite weather were getting
Here in California we have access to oil and gas rig drill stems if I could get them to you I would build a pair of gates for you that the cars would bounce off.
Hi Olly and Co, great videos. Fair play to you continuing to do one a day👍🤭 could you see the window surrounds done in black? And where there is no surround make some to match😉 regards 🤪
Had a similar issue with gates being crashed into, we used wire rope hung between posts. Could padlock them as well and if someone crashed into them we just splice them back together. They had reflectors on reduced it from 5-6 times a year to 1-2 crashes was a lot cheaper than gates
For the gate way get 5 big one tonne blocks 2 wide 2 behind each other on the side where the post is then set the gateway back a few feet back in to the field before kills 3 birds with one lot of concrete gives you swing room from both sides allows you to save the gate way and only a few of the drivers will smash in to them before they learn their lesson and also dose enough damage to the vehicles to full emobalise them so you know who to send the repair bills to have a good start to the new year
Think you need to construct a heavy duty set of gates out of reclaimed crash barrier material. I would also put a removal centre post in to support where the gates meet.
You should concrete in some pipe or tube then get sections off crash barrier with legs/posts on that u can lower into the pipes then lift out wen required and if they get hit again worst case just swap the legs 🤷🏻♂️ then you could put arrows or hi vis tape on the barrier and gates behind if needed
Put some new gates with reflective signs on them, could you mount a cctv camera on that telegraph pole so if they get damaged you could bill the insurance company of the offenders to replace the gates
I think you will have to do what Tom lamb has done in his workshop Olly that will give you some extra storage space, as for gates i think some good rsj,s as gate posts would help.
Love the picture of the original house, as you say it had a lot more character. As someone else as suggested it would have been difficult to maintain/ repair that house so cheaper for the council to knock down. On the positive side it would have cost you a lot more to renovate and undoubtedly it would have been listed. Hope you had a good Xmas 👍
Bloody fly tippers, must be so frustrating. I used to Milk record in the early morning on my way to farms, I saw so many gateways with rubbish tipped there.
Good idea that you’ve got the carpets the same colour as Robs dog, we do the same with our golden retrievers so that we aren’t constantly hoovering up the dog hair
Great Vid. We get lots of fly tipping, it drives me mad, i report it to Fix my Street and they get the council to clear it up, but its on public roads not private land
Nice to see Rob making it more homely 👌, Gate way could you put on slight angle rather full on bend, or council put something there? Feeling 90% as last trip to Christie last night with my dad, it’s always a shame when pull down a cottage to build a better square house!
We had thunder last night isn’t it funny weather as cold as it and wet and it’s thundering I’d put some reflective chevrons on the gate and also put a poacher block in front of the gate and if that doesn’t work move the gate Isn’t Wellbrook coming on well it’s going to be a lovely house when it’s finished back in the day wasn’t it a beautiful house such character Rob will love living there feeling 91% today and another fantastic video
Can I suggest brush coia matting , a big fitted piece for that front porch . It was the best thing I ever did in the porch of my old cottage . In my new house I have a big square of it framed in nice 6 “ wide stained and waxed planks of oak . It has saved my carpets and people tend to take off their shoes on the wooden edges and when it gets worn I just lift it out and replace .
Good video Ollie, would move the gateway up the road a bit. It is a shame they knocked the original house down, but the one there now is looking great. 80% Today
Hey Olly 🤔 I think maybe get some of those tyres on your other farm to make a cheap barrier on that bend. Post and 6-8 tyres over then some concrete for weight. Paint white chevrons and next time a silly driver will bump away hopefully 🙏🏼
Id let the window company measure the glass for windows, the amount of times we used the costumer measurements and the glass units where either too small exposing the spacer bar to sunlight or too tight so we couldn't shim the windows for tow and healing, I think the chevrons on the gates is a good idea, at night with no gates i doubt anyone would know there was a corner there, specially if its raining
Anyone driving down Crosshillocks should know where the bends are in the road. Nobody goes down there apart from people dumping weed crops and driving lessons usually
Wellbrook looks really great, fantastic job done by all. As for the gateway on that bend, can you source some of those big concrete lego blocks. Could fix some reflecters on them.
Wellbrook looks well! You comment on 1950’s housing well let’s examine it. I live in a house built in 1950. It is a private build but it is effectively utility housing. That is all you were allowed even privately. You could not obtain materials to repair a house unless it was bomb damaged. What you have in fact done is taken an agricultural manager’s cottage as allowed and this year you have given it a Taylor & Green makeover such as their designs for Loddon RDC in Norfolk. These were really Bauhaus variations made to fit the English landscape. For a period feature clean the surround for the window as it is in fact an architect feature of the day, as much as they were allowed to do. For your gateway use Armco either side. The taller the pole the more force an impacting vehicle can exert. The suggestion of a cable seems a good idea and cable is cheap and rebounds. Gates are expensive as you know. Stick with the landscape you know.
That CRT you left in the rain, if it worked would have been worth a few quid. If you don't know whether it works or it did work before you put it out side, dry it out and see if it works. They are around £150-300 on ebay for that size. As for the corner with the crashes. Move the entrance to the field somewhere else and stick some armco around the corner. It's is relatively cheap to fit if you do it your self. At least it is cheap compared to replacing a gate twice a year.
Olly is the field to the right of that gate yours? The other gate seems ok so could you put a new gate in the hedge line separating the 2 fields? You would have one less gate on that road. It would mean goimg into another field to get to it but your still on the corner and wouldn't have to replace that big double gate every 6 months
Hig big hole ste in a heavy duty h iron and set 1 of them concreat block or big bolder and pore cupl metrs concreat around it next time it hit ul know ho did it lol
Hey Ollie, I'm a firefighter now have worked in Agri and rural business most of my life till a few years ago. One thing that I've wondered for years is do landowners claim off the drivers insurance after accidents like this? For replacing gates, hedgerows, damaged crop etc unfortunately being fairly rural I go to a lot of accidents that damage things like this and have often wondered if its worth the landowners claiming or if the time spent quantifying and processing a claim makes it pointless?
You can get thunder and lightening when it snows had a big hail storm here in cumbria last night and apparently it caused several crashes both sides of the M6 at Tebay about 8.30 pm Certainly very wet everywhere House is looking great
Or maybe it’s just because they can’t drive 🤷🏼♂️ Concrete some foldable posts in, that’d stop em 😂 Madness that, that house was replaced, the old one was much nicer. Make sure you take some time out Olly, it’s important.
Hi Olly That bend has been stinker for crashes over the year's. I would put a barrier up with reflective strips on and move the gateway to the corner of Crosshillocks and Stockswell rd. Easier access plus good vision all around going in and out... Last nights weather was unbelievable, woke me up as well.. Your barley is under water just like the spuds on alder lane and cronton road, god know what they're gonna turn out like.. Thanks Olly
the council could do with sorting the road out a bit better on that bend looks like half of it made of potholes maybe it will stop cars bouncing off into your gates to the field
Could you not set new gates well back from the road and put soil banks each side. It think it’s time recovery / insurance companies had to report in to some sort of database when cars are recovered out of fields and hedges etc. if the vehicle has been removed before it is recorded there is no chance of claiming for any damage, so annoying and wrong.
Surely, give it’s an accident black spot the onus is on the local authority or highways agencies to put up signage or barriers? Why are you and probably other farmers\land owners having to foot the bill…
Hi Olly, nice and interesting video as always. 🙂
I hope you liked our little present 😃
Hi Olly they should have left wellbrook as it was in the painting..you have made a fantastic job of it. ....you must get sick of the fly tipping one of the farmers up here turned the fly tippers pickup over with the load All...😊😊😊40%
The House looks the Business. a Super job Olly.
Great video again, you never fail to keep us hooked.

Fairly inexpensive but work a treat.
What I would do with that bend is get some new gates and put plenty of reflective material on them and a reflective arrow showing there’s a bend, anyway great video Olly!!!
And a remote camera on that power pole?
Drop in armco into some sockets across the front of the gates?
For the field with bent gates, tank traps........
How about a few scrap wide tractor rears filled with concrete or pick up some old duals wheels can screw reflective marker plates to the tyres and ballast the duals you can move at harvest and use the poacher block for access
I can't believe how much people dump their junk.
Move the gateway back and stick something in the gap that will really fubar someone's car like a tank trap ie dragons teeth! Ultimately it's down to the council to put in the measures to slow the traffic! Ultimately it's down to the council to install traffic management solutions
Big set of steel gates with a big steel post
Blinkin wet Olly! Our fields are bogged out at the mo!
Gateway, either move ya gates, make a set from armco barriers that,d swing open or make em so can lift off and into the field with either a front linkage or merlo head or even pallet forks.
Move the gate back away from the road level with the pole with earth bank to stop cars that lose control
I think a length or two across that gateway and now missing hedge , maybe used from the council ??? A much better 2024 Olly
You need to use 12inch steel tube as gate post and fill with concrete with 2mtr3 of concrete to hold it up, that should stop them
Here in California we have access to oil and gas rig drill stems if I could get them to you I would build a pair of gates for you that the cars would bounce off.
Hi Olly and Co, great videos. Fair play to you continuing to do one a day👍🤭 could you see the window surrounds done in black? And where there is no surround make some to match😉 regards 🤪
100% today as passed my class 1 today with a clean sheet 😁😁😁
Alright olly,,,that original house ,had a sad history,,,but I will let Xmas and New Yr go,,,,first,,,,all the best ,enjoyed the tractor run.
Good job on bringing the farm house back to life.
Yeah we had thunder about 5 this morning .
Had a similar issue with gates being crashed into, we used wire rope hung between posts. Could padlock them as well and if someone crashed into them we just splice them back together. They had reflectors on reduced it from 5-6 times a year to 1-2 crashes was a lot cheaper than gates
That’s a great idea and a lot cheaper than gates.

I feel drivers are following the hedge and get confused by gap of the gateway something to make the gate stand out at night I think would work well
On the crashed in gateway, you could have a sliding steel crash barrier. If then it gets bent just run one of your machines over it😇
Think you need to construct a heavy duty set of gates out of reclaimed crash barrier material. I would also put a removal centre post in to support where the gates meet.
Get a reflective sign with chevrons on it and put it just before the corner
You should concrete in some pipe or tube then get sections off crash barrier with legs/posts on that u can lower into the pipes then lift out wen required and if they get hit again worst case just swap the legs 🤷🏻♂️ then you could put arrows or hi vis tape on the barrier and gates behind if needed

People scrap some reallynice looking cars, they don't have to be an eye sore + with engines out they wold be light enough to fork lift out of the way.
Great video olly fright to God you have to go around blocking up your gates some people have no cop on
Great Vid. We get lots of fly tipping, it drives me mad, i report it to Fix my Street and they get the council to clear it up, but its on public roads not private land

The seal of those windows is compromised and moisture has entered the gap.
We had thunder last night isn’t it funny weather as cold as it and wet and it’s thundering I’d put some reflective chevrons on the gate and also put a poacher block in front of the gate and if that doesn’t work move the gate Isn’t Wellbrook coming on well it’s going to be a lovely house when it’s finished back in the day wasn’t it a beautiful house such character Rob will love living there feeling 91% today and another fantastic video

put chevron boards on the gate to show a corner
Was Rob picking on you thinking you had your boots on his new carpets ? People driving a bit fast i think HARR-HARR
Can you get some old motorway crash barrier on the bend. It might just swing them round the corner and not into field
Good video Ollie, would move the gateway up the road a bit. It is a shame they knocked the original house down, but the one there now is looking great. 80% Today

That storm was right over mine last night Olly
Id let the window company measure the glass for windows, the amount of times we used the costumer measurements and the glass units where either too small exposing the spacer bar to sunlight or too tight so we couldn't shim the windows for tow and healing,
I think the chevrons on the gates is a good idea, at night with no gates i doubt anyone would know there was a corner there, specially if its raining
great video olly id bund the gateway ends and put and put 2 poacher blocks down wast of time and to keep using gates #80% how you feeling

Ollie
I’ve got a set of 3.6 gates and posts for sale in Knowsley if they are any use
Which bedroom is Rob's dog getting in the house. 😊😊😊
Happy between days to everyone. 😊
That CRT you left in the rain, if it worked would have been worth a few quid. If you don't know whether it works or it did work before you put it out side, dry it out and see if it works. They are around £150-300 on ebay for that size.

It is the life that goes on within that makes a home out of a house.
Put RSJs into ground drill holes into top and slide scaffolding poles through and stick a lock on
You could put a crash barrier, on the corner and put shervon on it, then put a entrance in another place.
Felling about 60% today.
Olly is the field to the right of that gate yours? The other gate seems ok so could you put a new gate in the hedge line separating the 2 fields? You would have one less gate on that road. Maybe move the gateway but leave it just big enough to get Bateman tractors in, the Lego block the existing one and just open it up at harvest
Build some monster gates with rsj posts buried in 2m. Cover them in reflective tape.
On the bend some big RSJ welded all along the bend
You can get thunder and lightening when it snows had a big hail storm here in cumbria last night and apparently it caused several crashes both sides of the M6 at Tebay about 8.30 pm
Certainly very wet everywhere
House is looking great
We had thunder snow years ago during the day, the lightning was an astonishing sight through the falling snow
I would make those gates sturdy enough to make a car undrivable so at least you get to claim on their insurance. Or a hidden camera.
Concrete Lego blocks Olly they won’t move them and it will stop the fly tippers
Great video olly that mini merlo is a brilliant little machine it will be good to see the 1690 finished I’m 95% today
Put some of the concrete Lego blocked in front of gate easy to move when needed but if someone crashes into them it will not get to the gates behind
Or maybe it’s just because they can’t drive 🤷🏼♂️
Concrete some foldable posts in, that’d stop em 😂
Madness that, that house was replaced, the old one was much nicer.
Make sure you take some time out Olly, it’s important.
Could you put a crash barrier in and have a gate behind it and just nicj in behind as a gate either end ?
Build a pond , do new hedge and new gateway
Make strong gates with crash barrier so it can be moved with tele handler or pickup hitch
Great video Olly
Hi Olly. I’d put that poacher block across the road rather than the gateway! Slow em down a bit. 😂😂 85% today
Put a round steel pipe in another pipe, six inch tube, and then you can just slide it open and closed , a lot cheaper than new gates every few months
Good video 👍 80% the house looks good.
Hi Olly
That bend has been stinker for crashes over the year's. I would put a barrier up with reflective strips on and move the gateway to the corner of Crosshillocks and Stockswell rd. Easier access plus good vision all around going in and out...

I’d render the house externally
the council could do with sorting the road out a bit better on that bend looks like half of it made of potholes maybe it will stop cars bouncing off into your gates to the field
15:21 great content
Two or three scrap cars across the gap?
Need to be carefull what you put across the gateway, big lumps of concrete could end up wth somebody dead, gates with markers on might be best
Good Video
Next year isn't gunna be any better
Where can I give you a photo for the end of the video?
Tree trunk painted red and white 85%
Make them out of old trackor tyres
The gates buy some old Railtrack make your own they think twice then .
Have a bend sign up the road farther
Maybe a 9m manitou needed 😮
Could you not set new gates well back from the road and put soil banks each side. It think it’s time recovery / insurance companies had to report in to some sort of database when cars are recovered out of fields and hedges etc. if the vehicle has been removed before it is recorded there is no chance of claiming for any damage, so annoying and wrong.
Take the Satellite dish down outdated they will install the new standard
Robs a very lucky guy. Some people doing a similar job as him could only dream of getting a van and a house like that
He not exactly getting it, hes paying rent on it
@wolfe1970 there is people doing a similar job to him but their wages wouldn't even cover the rent on that house.
No bids on 7810?
I can't believe people just tip their rubbish like that. They must be real scumbags??
They drive like lunatics round the lanes 😡
Surely, give it’s an accident black spot the onus is on the local authority or highways agencies to put up signage or barriers? Why are you and probably other farmers\land owners having to foot the bill…
Reflectors sound good but you still have idiots behind the wheel
Bales of ors on bend , better to look after yourself
