awesome video! i don't stay up on the rare/ expensive plants to prevent FOMO but i'll always watch videos like this :) what a cool monstera! i really like it's unique look! i also love that variegated zebrina, one of my fave alocasias, mine is pretty happy on my covered porch in socal although she dropped 4 out of 10 leaves when i let her get too cold recently, oops (2 plants in the same pot)

Thanks for the crazy priced plants, as mentioned by others it's entertaining to watch what is out there. I follow Sean as well and like you I watch his videos to get an idea what the plant market is like there and what's new
These plants are mostly so that other sellers can buy them and then produce more for the big markets...so the high prices are justified..even a bit low sometimes for something that's totally unique

I'm kinda thinking this Monstera "devil" is just an albo that went full white and somehow managed to produce some chlorophyll. Because thats exactly, literally 100%, how my old adansonii albo looked like that went fully white and then started to get this exact type of green a few leaves later. The slightly contorted leaves could come with that too, but who knows.
$841 USD for an Orange Princess that size?! If I had that kind of money I absolutely would, holy. I had been checking their prices for about two years and never saw them go under 1k USD for a small plant.

I try not to think about tricolor monsteras. I actually really like them and they’re kinda approaching close enough to a palatable price that I can fool myself into thinking I should get one someday 😅 I really should settle down. I already have a Thai and an Albo, and they’re very lovely! I also like green-on-green even though it’s subtle….. 🤣 rip my budgeting plans

The alocasia albo Zebrina for $900 is crazy. I found just normal Zebrina in the grocery store the other day. 3/PPP in a gallon pot for $30 canadian
I live in Thailand and yes people love variegated plants here and after a while the prices go down quite a bit!

If I bought a plant as expensive as this, I would keep it hidden for the rest of my life. Firstly, because of the shame of admitting that I spent such an absurd amount of money for a plant, secondly because of the fear of being stolen.

I've given up on IG because I have pretty bad FOMO and I was pretty poor when I entered the plant collecting hobby (so it was torture) but I'm missing out on so much stuff! I love seeing these unique sports and I've finally found some local collectors/sellers that import these rare plants from southeast Asia and yeah... I've yet to buy a plant that's worth $1K or more but I'm starting to consider it. The tricolour Thai Constellation I'd pay $1K for and this Devil Monster... maybe even more!
I did buy a Spiritus Sancti out of FOMO when I was broke and regretted that choice for a while but now it's getting to be quite pretty and might even be mature in a year or so. Even though it sells for 3-5 times cheaper today, I'm happy I bought it back then because I'll soon have a mature plant and propagates to try breaking even.

I’m gonna be so honest, I don’t get the hype for variegation. Yes, it’s pretty, but unless the plant has been stablized through several generations of plants, and is given specific and more complex care, they tend to either die, or become sick and crispy realllllll quick. I don’t know, plants as a “status symbol” is just so ridiculous and unnecessary. I’m sure in 5 years you can get one of these for under $100.

Pretty varigations but not my type of plants, size, and definitely not the price! Yikes! Even if I have money to blow, I still wouldn't pay that much for any one plant. Most i'll pay for a houseplant is $10, maybe $15 if I really want.
