    I’d bet the doorway color difference is from the pt sill plate that reacted with the concrete before it was cut out. Looks great though overall!

    I am pulling up carpets at my gouse and have been looking for a good DIY concrete finish and after watching you put the stain down and watching this, I'm gonna give this a go. My concrete has cracks and holes in it so I'll need to do some filling first and wonder if the filler will show up. I'm not too concerned if theu do, I'm after a rustic kinda look anyway

    • @RinkVideo
      @RinkVideo  2 роки тому

      That’s awesome. I think depending on what colour you use and how many coats is important but I would imagine that the crack repairs would most likely be visible. But if you’re going for rustic it should look great

      @@RinkVideo Great review! My floor is the same color of the darker test you did in the closet. I absolutely love my stained floor. I built my log home 9 years ago and my floor is a great asset to all the rustic logs and trim. I noticed a small crack in the living room and I wish now that I would have left it alone. I have tried everything to cover and fill the cracks and all I have done is highlight the 7ft crack. I am open to any and all ideas. Thanks again.

    Hey, love these videos. I bought a couple orders of this kit based on the first video. Like you my first test area went down way to dark/think. I am looking for something alittle less opaque and more transparent that will show some of the character of my concrete. Do you remember what ratio's you diluted down to from your storage room out to the main basement area? I assume the storage room was the recommended 1-to-1?

    • @RinkVideo
      @RinkVideo  Рік тому

      I don’t exactly remember the ratio but to get that look i did an extremely thin coat and didn’t 100% cover the concrete.
      Thanks for watching!!!!

    great video! I have an acid stained concrete floor in various rooms (done by previous owner), and I love it, looks beautiful. My question is: in a couple of small places the stain came off (a piece of painter tape tore off a round small area in a bathroom) and some minor water damage caused a few areas that need touch up in a bedroom. I don't know what product was used on this flooring so am unable to buy whatever they used. All I need is a few ounces of stain to touch these places up, but most of what I see are gallon size bottles for larger jobs. What would be your advice for doing a very small touch up job like this, of 5-6 smallish areas about the size of a nickle. I see "concentrates" sold where it mixes with water to make a larger amount at a reasonable price, but not sure if that's just watered down paint and not a true stain. Is there a company or place you can recommend where I can buy a small sample of maybe 8 oz for around $15? Thanks for any advice or ideas! I'm sure other people who have these types of floors also encounter this type of problem, of needing a small amount of touch up stain.....

  • @lorasteger6205
    @lorasteger6205 Рік тому

    Thanks...Is there a reason why you purchase the stain with this company verses a Home-Depot or Lowes concrete stain? I like your color for our 30 year old home...not a lot of sunlight so maybe little lighter for us...Do I just add water to dilute the stain? and..Lastly, do ya think it would work around my in ground pool in the hot sun? thanks for your help!

    • @RinkVideo
      @RinkVideo  Рік тому

      I’m not aware of a stain like this at HD.
      Yes water is used to dilute.
      It would definitely work around pool but just completely depends on what you use for a sealer. Hope that helps.

    • @RinkVideo
      @RinkVideo  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Fernando! I had planned on putting another coat of sealer but I don’t see a need for it. Cleaning is a breeze. I’ll use a Dyson or just a swifter wet wipe.

      @@RinkVideo thank you. I’m about to do the same in my home and I’ve been researching it for a while. I’ll be using the dye that you used because they have an expanded color selection and. I’ll be using Eagle Armor Seal as a sealer and then a mat coat. Thanks for the info!

    What was your prep process for the floor aside from the cleaner in the jug from the kit? You said in the video you used a floor sander. Did you mean a buffer, or an actual sander? What grit sanding screen did you use?
    I'm trying to prep a hard troweled floor for these water-based Surecrete stains/sealer, and I found acid-etching didn't give me enough profile for the stain to bond well

      This sounds absolutely crazy now, but I didn't even consider it at the time. I guess the stain itself would be of no concern but I whatever sealer you use would matter. The thin coat makes it look terracotta for sure and that’s what I was going for. A thicker application of this “oak” would make it way darker.

      Hey caveman, this is terrible. I got a message from their VP of sales back in January. He said they were moving fulfillment facilities and would have a gap of about two weeks in orders and sales. Obviously we are WAY beyond that at this point. I'm going to reach out to them and see if I can get any more info. In the meantime, I'll have to make some changes to this video. I'd encourage people to get the Eco Stain product directly from Surecrete. surecretedesign.com/product/water-based-concrete-stain/
