Hi Marina, I really enjoy your videos, they are very well organized, structured and very educational. There's one mistake in this one though, at 6:24 mins the idiom you're explaining is "Miss the boat" but the screen is displaying "miss the bullet". Thanks again for all these videos... 👏❤️
She could have used, “that ship has sailed”. Meaning...it’s too late, that opportunity has passed or that situation is long over. Nothing you can do about it now.
Have you even watched it? 🙄 You're just over-hyping it without any reason... I hated season 2! The plot was terrible and there were a lot of loopholes in the storyline.
Thanks Marina for picking up these idioms. Great choice and informative examples. Although some of them are familiar to me I still need to learn the ones I'm not aware of!
Hi, Marina! Thank you for sharing these helpful idioms in learning English. I am an ESL teacher and I actually use them for my students. However, I noticed that there are only 14 idioms on the list and on the video.
“Beat around the bush” comes from hunting small animals and birds that hide in bushes and the hunters, rather than go into the bushes to capture them, would beat on the outer edges of the bushes to chase the animals out. Takes a little longer.
Miss Maria My vocabulary knowledge is enriched because of your videos. Also I'm gonna hit the books for my exams. I'm gonna stop studying English with you when pigs fly😄😄😄 Stay safe❤❤❤
Thanks for such an interesting lesson, Marina! There is a mistake with the text: "bullet" intead of "boat". There is another idiom "to dodge the bullet" which means to avoid sth unpleasant. :)
Fantastic video and channel for learning advanced English!!, I'll keep on hitting the books until achieve a great advanced level and proficiency, keep on until achieve my job of my dreams.
Your approach is impressive, especially, being short and crisp. I am an ESL speaker who's at a fairly advanced stage as afar as learning English. I am just trying to level it up by imbibing the common phrasal verbs and idioms that you guys use. I would feel the teaching tediously lenthy if someone beats around the bush 😊
“Cutting corners” . A literal example would be someone who is walking and comes to a corner, rather than make the 90 degree turn at the corner, cuts across a lawn or open space to save time and distance. This would be where the term is derived from.
Hi Marina, this is Sujata from India. You are just too good to describe. I don't want to beat around the bush , I would say your style of explaining is incredible . Loved Your captivating smile . Keep going . Lots of love from India . ❤️
