Just watched the movie last night. Glad I found this interview. Didn’t realize 2/4’s of Grizzly Bear worked on the soundtrack until I heard a banjo sprinkled in the melancholic score and found out on Wikipedia lol. It immediately made me nostalgic about the time when I first got into their album Yellow House and Daniel Rossen’s side project Department of Eagles. Thanks for the insightful interview. Looking forward to more scores by these two.
Can't recommend Chris's and Dan's latest respective solo albums enough. The Past Lives score is amazing, and there is no doubt that they work very well in the scoring space, but I would also love to see them collaborate on a stand alone album, as a duo. There are no limits to how great that could be.
Yeah, try to get Chris Taylor into the mix as well, since Ed's currently pursuing other interests. Love the 'proggy-jazz' they seem to lean into on the Grizzly tracks primarily sung by Dan.
@@loganlowe3731 I'd never say no to some Chris Taylor, but it feels like a Bear/Rossen combo would be easier to pull off at the moment. Maybe they have no interest in it, but a man can dream. Of proggy jazz.
Chris played a lot on the silent hour golden mile EP along with Dr dog drummer. Eric slick. Have you painted to Grizzly Bear? Daniel is probably the majority songwriting force of Grizzly Bear despite Ed’s significant contributions.
The music is very powerful and very poetic at the same time. There’s a pinch of Asian vibe , in my personal perception, mixing the energy of a cosmopolitan city as NY. Very sensual and emotional but not in a pretentious way. So delicate as the movie is!!! Wonderful job!!!

If you liked Yellow House and Department of Eagles, I hope you've listened to Rossen's solo record You Belong There!

Such a sweet dreamy soundtrack.
