I was working down on Hayling Island in Hampshire on Sunday afternoon. I drove down in my old 2006 Mondeo 2.2 TDI ST Est, two of us in the car and the rear was full of musical equipment. I covered 566 miles on £75 of diesel (full tank). Didn't have to stop to top up and on the way back for a number of miles I wasn't hanging around either. I assume, Lee, you, and many others with EV's would struggle to achieve that. Possibly cost less, but certainly longer in time.
Any EV would struggle to match you on a journey like that. Lee's couldn't look at it, because it has a relatively short range and very poor fuel economy - it's not built to be a long distance tourer. A long-range Tesla would be the best bet, but even there, if you were prepared to pee in a layby and not rest at all, it would lose. The thing is, journeys like that are a very small part of life for most drivers. The other advantages of EVs more than make up for taking a bit longer on a long road trip.
Never mind the electric car issues. My question is , why would any seemingly intelligent person pay over 500 pounds for a brake fluid change. That literally is the modern definition of “ Highway Robbery “ ( pun intended) Buy an old Toyota and learn to do it yourself. Mad!

Can't see him maintaining the views driving around in a trouble free petrol car eating fish 'n chips with nothing to moan about. It wasn't long ago you could pick up 10 year old £80k+ fully spec'd cars like Merc S class, Jags, Bentleys for about £5k. even 10 year old 911's were only around £10k. The reason is they are all money pits for fools. It's a new phenomena, people expecting luxury second hand, non-classic items to retain value. The depreciation was part of the flex of buying them "I'm so rich I don't care that it costs more than your house to buy or that it will be worthless when I'm bored of it" kind of thing.

This is government led, based on Net Zero targets . Look at the plans to financially punish heating firms if they don't reach installing heat pump ex-changer targets. The enforced selling of EV's is also raising the vehicle insurance market doubling the premiums to compensate for EV coverage
many cars will go round corners fast if the driver has the bottle. I have left many so called performance Porsches for dead in something that on paper doesn`t stack up but it`s 80% driver and 20% car.
Dealers are pushing electric cars because vehicle makers that fail to achieve the ZEV mandate sales targets will be subject to fines, with a system of proposed flexibilities and credits to support those that sell a low volume of EVs. If a company misses the target, it will be made to pay the Government £15,000 for every car that doesn't comply.
As I have said before EVs are built wrong for most people. If you can charge at home and dont drive too much its perfect. If you have to drive more than 100 miles a day then you need a gas or diesel car. Also where I live insurance for an EV is super expensive and hard to get. If the governments really wanted you to have an EV then they could give everyone one as a trade for their gas car instead of giving money away to other countries. PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR MOUTH IS. I would still keep a gas car for long trips. I also said EV are built wrong, they are not making them for the average person, they are making them for the upper class, as you can see by the price and extras they add.

I really appreciate you subjecting yourself to a total loss lease panto for my education and entertainment. When the day comes and you hand it back and your standing on the kerb in the rain I'll bung you 20 quid for a taxi,a diesel one.

I know 3 people who have returned to a petrol car from EV due to practicality!
You're not wrong about the government... I worked for Jaguar Land Rovers E. V. O... We looked after fleet 99 (government /royal) cars. Not a single one is electric or hybrid... There protection cars aren't electric either so that speaks volumes
They’re not trying to get people into EVs per se. They are trying to get EVs off their lot! Then it’s your problem not theirs.
If a dealer had kept me waiting for an ICE car, then said they couldn't supply, I'd demand my deposit back and then walk away. Would you go to Currys for a freezer and come away with a TV, No ! The only way to stop this EV sales madness is to only pay on delivery of what you ordered.
Small problem with that.
The vast majority of people on this channel have never and will never buy a new car!
The "protest" won't get very far I'm afraid! 😞
Well from where I live we have the decommissioned RAF Wyton air base. The disused runways are covered with unsold VWs and most are EVs. These by now are old cars but what on earth are VW planning to do with them ?
Engine noises on an EV are the equivalent of vegan Bacon on a full English, fills a hole but misses the point.
if electrics were that good people would line up to buy them without need for government push.
Green energy equals slow dark cold and broke
Chargers in my town, one site run by Sheffield City Council and the other an Instavolt had their cables chopped off for Copper a few days ago. Expensive replacement and no guarantee that it won't happen again.
Tesla drivers sabotaging the competition... lol..
EV’s suck. I agree as I’m stuck on mobility scooters 😂 and the batteries 🪫 are atrocious and slow to charge !
Thank You
You know what I’m not interested I don’t own one I don’t want one so you can correct me on anything you like I’m telling ya what I received from energy company’s emails so if you own EV good on ya as said nothing against em not for me

Not selling my 2017 VF SS V8 Holden Commodore to buy a sewing machine on wheels. It does everything from shopping to a run across the Nullarbor and I still get 16 MPG.....
Have owned 8 ICE cars so far. Have never heard of a heater breaking. Unbelievable this backwards nonsense!
- and Toyota never had wheels fall off a car until they started playing with electric toys... lol...
Heater broke on my MkII Capri and my Carlton.
It does happen!
I charge my car in 5 minutes at gas pump.
Try using the Petrol Pump, it will be even quicker..
I ordered BMW Coupe petrol, last October. Stratstone Leeds did ask me about a EV but I said no! Took delivery in January 2024, and it was as ordered! Petrol! 😊😊😊
That literally is the modern definition of “ Highway Robbery “ ( pun intended)
Buy an old Toyota and learn to do it yourself.
Mad!
"seemingly" 😂😂😂😂😂
I have a 27yr old diesel Volvo and its quick and easy to service even a chimpanzee could do it and has zero depreciation and
Still does 45mpg on back roads.
😄 and you can put a diesel generator in the back as well 🕶
I'd have some very strong words for a dealer trying to up sell me an electric car.
The Fan on my Jeep has been spinning for 22 years and I live in Australia so it knows heat.
Your fans lasted two years that’s green 😂😂😂😂😂
Imagine having a second hand one and no warranty. It would bankrupt many people paying for parts.
EVs have very long warranties, it's not an issue until you're driving something that's about ten years old.
@@moragkerr9577 many people do drive 10 year old and older vehicles quite happily. But they do t have the worry of 1. Replacing a battery costing around £14,000 plus nearly the same for fitting it. 2. They don’t have to worry of how to dispose of their old worn out battery 3. Their car won’t become totally useless once their battery power plant dies.
Because they are driving a petrol or diesel vehicle which can go many years without major surgery to their power plant that is why if our fool politicians stick to the 2035 deadline for new petrol or diesel cars there will be a huge demand for nearly new petrol/diesel cars
I bet Gehngis Kahn doesn't have to pay the fines.
I was so excited to buy my new Boxster in 2001, and even more excited when I got rid of it in 2007. Absolutely unbelievable list of never ending faults.. Two, or was it perhaps 3 Rear main oil seals, wheel bearing, roof not closing properly ( plus the never correctly folding rear window). Door handle fell off, radio had a fault. Roof material chaffing and wearing. the optional extra thing between the headrests rattled.. flew off once when accelerating...
£529.75 to check you tyre depth, make sure there's no dents on the under tray and a brake fluid change...they have taken you for a mug and that's before the depression.
It's Porsche. Only people with more money than sense go there in the first place.
He is chauffeured around in a BRACE of Range Rovers because at anytime several of them WILL break down and leave him stranded. I believe it takes 5 Rangies to make it all the way across London.
£529 for a service? Not on your nelly, pal
Looking on Google that's seems like he going rate. A 2017- 911. A 2 year service is £600 Inc VAT.
Buy a Porsche you pay the rip-off prices
That feels reasonable to me, I paid $550 for my recent service and it isnr a high end manufacturer like porshe
Yes my BMW garage said they couldn't supply a new X1 in petrol. They had e hybrid or electric. I just said I will stay with my diesel series 3 and walked away
Great, its the only way they will get the message!
Good man.
Thank you for refusing to be bullied into buying something you do NOT want.
Buying a second hand EV is like playing Russian Roulette.
But without the fun.
- like buying a secondhand Air Conditioner - why would you.. (And a new one is an exercise in extortion - the only ("intelligent") way is as a company car - for the direct deductions - fixed monthly price.)
You're the Porsche dealer's dream Lee. They can buy that boat and the first class holiday thanks your wonderful custom. Great job! 👍
Did the dealership provide the Dentist with a car to fill the gap 😂😂
I used to have a Peugeot 3008GT SUV from new, but when I went back to the dealer to look for a new one, I was told they no longer did a 2 litre diesel version. And when I asked about the electric version, I was told NOT to buy one as the average real range was only around 65 miles. So, I bought a brand new Range Rover instead which I absolutely love.
I will never buy electric, long live big fucking V8 engines.
Fishy Sunak doesn't drive an ICE (and doesn't know how petrol stations work).
He flies everywhere in his private chopper! Very green 😂
Most people who have EV'S are to embarrassed to admit that they messed up buying one , Lee down yours for whatever you can get NOW you say you can get £44,000 well give it 18 months more and you'll be lucky to get 25-30 k for it GET RID !!!!
He's done 85% of all the losing he will do on it. From here on its just noise.
He won't do that, it keeps the money rolling in from all the clickbait for ev haters seeking their fix of ev ownership nightmares p0rn (I'm also anti-ev too btw) The cars probably paid for itself on that alone.
Can't see him maintaining the views driving around in a trouble free petrol car eating fish 'n chips with nothing to moan about.
Also those kind of losses has really always been the norm on expensive cars, that's why they are for rich people.
The car is leased. Also, he loves it. Go figure.
They haven’t thought this through, only 2-3% of electric cars on road now. Where is all the electric for another 97% of cars going to come from? We are virtually at full capacity now ! It won’t work ! No way by 2035 .
Trust me they have very carefully thought this through, The whole idea is that you will not own a car, you will be stuck in your 15 minute city (prison) with bugger all food watching BBC propaganda and eating bugs after your latest medical intervention
Lee, as I said to you on FB, these new 911's are just too wide for Britain. My favourite is the 997.2 Targa.
The wardrobe on wheels is perfect for swinging!
I know someone who works at the top of a car dealership,he said they avoid buying or selling any used EV’s due the very high risk of potential losses. 😮😢
Can anyone give me one reason to buy an EV because all I can see is a total disaster with them.
I am old enough to never have to buy one thankfully.
If you can charge at home it's a no-brainer. Incredibly convenient, and costs pennies. The cars have instant torque and go like shit off a shovel. Oh and you can run your house off the battery in a power cut if you want to.
Just listen to Lee when he's telling you what a great car it is. He could hardly keep up the pretence of not liking it this time.
You're in the wrong place for any kind of EV Sales advice 😂
Just be warned.. every dealer that sells high end vehicles will have staff trained in how to make you feel like an Arabian King. Especially if you spend 100k plus every 2 years. Red carpet treatment. Champagne and gifts. VIP Golf days out to sponsored competitions. If not, you're just a pleb and want you out the door.. as I found out.
@@moragkerr9577 What costs pennies,as far as I knew EV cars are dearer than petrol .
One thing I definitely know us this bloke won't ever be getting one.
@@jmw-qt2ih Costs pennies TO RUN. They're over-priced to buy at the moment, although you can find a bargain if you look for one. But once you have the car, if you can charge at home, you'll be spending the backside of bugger-all on running it.
You don't have to get one if you don't want one, but you should try a test drive anyway. My God, these things can GO!
@@djonfonsteen6331 Hah, yes. You can just see them kow-towing to the customer, especially a customer who is going to go on and on about the great service on his UA-cam channel. I don't think I'd quite have the nerve to go in and cadge a free coffee if my humble MG4 was hooked up to one of their chargers. (Which ABRP keeps telling me I should do.)
I seem to recall the big advantage of EV's is supposed to be the minimal servicing costs. Yeah, right.
Unless you buy an extortionately-priced rocket sled from Porsche, they are. (Lee, that is an example of the correct use of the word "Extortionate".)

Does anyone else remember back when ICE stood for In Car Entertainment (CD/Radio head units etc) rather than Internal Combustion Engine. Each time I hear or read ICE used in the latter I scream Noooooooooo inside! 🤣
first reason EVs are not the future is that not everyone has a driveway to charge them every day
Lots of tycans because nobody wants one.
I would think that cancelling someone's order and pushing them into an EV is quite close to "Bait and Switch" selling, which is illegal. Irrespective of whether you are an EV fan or not, this is not an acceptable selling practice.
No but a blind eye will be turned along with all the others and there are lots, funny how if it fits a narrative it gets exempted.
- "sadly unable to deliver until ..... never - over subscribed, very popular".
- "oh would you like a new car sooner, we might be able to help you sir."
hmm... unrelated, ha ha ha...
This is government led, based on Net Zero targets . Look at the plans to financially punish heating firms if they don't reach installing heat pump ex-changer targets. The enforced selling of EV's is also raising the vehicle insurance market doubling the premiums to compensate for EV coverage
Potholes are by far my biggest concern motoring wise at the moment:-(
many cars will go round corners fast if the driver has the bottle. I have left many so called performance Porsches for dead in something that on paper doesn`t stack up but it`s 80% driver and 20% car.
I have been told the dealers have to sell three EV for each ICE cars they sell, otherwise they have to pay a penalty.
Thats just not true. 22% this year.
With so many replacements required, it is a strong warning to get rid of the car before the warranty expires.
He can't afford to. Stuck like glue now 😂
Dealers are pushing electric cars because vehicle makers that fail to achieve the ZEV mandate sales targets will be subject to fines, with a system of proposed flexibilities and credits to support those that sell a low volume of EVs. If a company misses the target, it will be made to pay the Government £15,000 for every car that doesn't comply.
No second hand market
Never mind the trolls Lee, you're doing a fantastic job. Keep on truckin'
If people want electric, ride the train, or bus. I am keeping my C7 ZO6, and my other ICE cars.
They are perfect for content creators who want to create divisive content for views. The positive is he’s now telling the viewers the truth- but still claims the Taycan is the world’s best EV. It’s like he’s out of the cult physically but still mentally there
Its like waiting for the photo shoots of MPs having their homes fitted with heat pumps . It seems like a long wait so far .
Electric cars are only the future if they have fast chargers at every fish and chips shop.
So over £500 for a quick look over and brake fluid change. This is why i dont let any stealers near my car.
Those entightled to motorbility are being given EVs. The dealers make more commission on an EV than an ICE in this scheme.
Nobody "gives" Motability customers EVs.
They choose a vehicle from a list.
That list is heavily skewed in favour of ICE vehicles.
