I've finally figured out why charging cables are so short. It's because EVangelists believe 80 miles is 300 miles.

The motorbikes are very normal and very thankfull for them, they do reduce the congestive traffic. I do the same in Australia. In Bangkok and throughout Asia they are so normal and really have priority over the cars & trucks, motorbikes form up at the front of other traffic at lighted intersections, it's like a GP start as the 20 to 40 motorbikes green light. I love it, the only way to get through the Jambed up traffick snails in the big cities of the world. Saves huge amounts of gasoline too. No 2 stroke oil burners now.

Hey there Lee, hope u can get to read my message and I hope MORAG does too..
I was trying out as a self employed trade plate driver…
I drove a 2019 Renault Clio to AYR in Scotland from
Sheffield car shop and it took me just over 4 hours non stop..
I then collected a 2014 tesla model S from Glasgow the following day with only 18% charge and ONLY took a Type 2 charger!!!
I pulled into a gridserve at a motorways just outside Glasgow and was stuck there for 4 HOURS waiting for the stupid car to charge unfortunately as it was only a 22kilowatt charger.
    The slow charger…
Once full it said 220 miles of range..
as I got on the motorway it had already eaten 2 miles…
I barely made it to Carlisle services with less than 8% in the battery…
Stayed over at a travel lodge while car was on charge… I worked out it was using 1 and 1/2 miles to 1 mile ……. WOW
Departed 8am with full battery… only made it to Knutsford South services, just south of Manchester just before 11am… another 4 hours gone…..
Continued my journey just after 3 and got home to Redditch Worcestershire with 25% remaining at 17.30
Next morning continued onwards to deliver the car in Oxford and had to charge AGAIN at Warwick services along the M40… put in about 40% charge and finally arrived at BMW Oxford at around 10am….
Nearly Two and a half days from Scotland….. and took me just over 4 hours in a CLIO!! I’ve never known a car to make me feel sooooooo Angry….
Never ever ever ever ever ever again….. EVER!!! Absolutely hate them!!!!
Definitely will stick with my faithful Diesel Berlingo😍
This is my very own testimony…. I feel your stress.

[EV charging point always empty at the French services]. “Did you see many EVs driving on the road ?”
If the French are refusing the use the toll motorways that might explain why all of the chargers are always free.

Lee, even though you made a mistake by driving on the wrong side of the road pulling out of that charge station, I am STILL amazed that you adjust beautifully to the correct side of the road in France and Spain. Being a UK driver, I'm sure it's difficult to adjust your brain. On a trip to Ireland, I rented a car and it took me at least 2 days to feel semi-comfortable as I drove from Shannon to Dublin and back to Galway. It was very difficult for me and I was scared most of the week I was there. I live in Pennsylvania, USA, and I am looking forward to trying it again....someday! Good Show.

In 2006 I drove to Malaga and Gibraltar with a Skoda Octavia diesel (when we we told diesels were the way forward) and had the very first generation metal case Navman HDD Satnav (£800.00 in Halfords at the time !) and apart from seeing the Eifel tower out of 4 windows of the car! only stopped overnight at the Spanish border and then on to Malaga 1350 miles in all Three fuel stops in total and 2 days. Now look where we are and this is progress! what the hell is wrong with people who think we are advancing with this EV failure in development and are happy to accept the stress and pain that goes with it. We are going backwards not forwards with this so called advanced technology. A graphic example of human stupidity if you need one! And I really enjoyed the journey without stressing out about damned chargers every couple of hundred miles. Would I do it today in a EV most certainly not ! 🙂

Used to tow caravan down to Spain annually. Calais to Spanish border via Rouen, Evreux, Dreux, Chartres, Orleans avoids Paris but adds just twenty miles to the journey. Thirty minutes extra for a more relaxed trip and there are sections of toll free autoroute and miles of arrowe straight highway alongside the toll roads.

Edit: found the thing I'd add. At 35:54 about lane positions. If anyone were to ask me what to do when driving abroad I'd tell them to use a hire car. It's cheaper and built for the road in the country. Now is it difficult to drive an RHD in a left hand drive country? I don't think it is. But I'd suggest folk do themselves a favour and just use a hire car as you're better seated to drive safely then.
Got nothing to add here really other than I kinda like the Hyundai Ionic. But I genuinely can't tell if that one was the same model I looked at years back when I was window shopping at EVs for a laugh. All personal taste and all that (and it's got more charm than a Tesla).
Best thing about all these care being the same lump on wheels is how you can somewhat make it your own thing. I kinda see them as a blank canvas to do whatever with. That said the new Defender doesn't look right, it should look like a box on wheels and not whatever this modern rubbish is.

Back in the 70's I drove from the North East of England to the south of France for a family holiday.
No Satnav then, the route had to be planned out using road maps. Getting through Paris was the big test.

Lee there's around 80 countries that drive on the left side of the road like the UK. So around a third of the world. The other two thirds drive on the right like France and the US.
There is a good reason why we drive on the left and it pre-dates motor cars themselves. We drive on the left because most people are right handed and in the time of knights there was a chance of being attacked whilst travelling and so people liked to ride their horse to the left to keep their sword arm (right arm for most people) free just in case they were attacked by someone coming from the opposite direction.
So by the time motor cars came along we had been travelling on the left for hundreds of years so it was just natural to stay that way.
The French however travel on the right because apparently Napoleon preferred to travel on the right. Hitler also preferred to travel on the right and forced a couple of countries the Nazis invaded to switch from driving to the left to driving on the right.
You will find today that the vast majority of countries that drive on the left like the UK are former British empire colonies around the world though this is not always the case.

    Also using a Volvo V50 helps a great deal….

TCR lane changers was brilliant when it worked but sadly I kept burning out the electric motors so my Christmas present had to be exchanged for something else. I remember that Top Gear episode where Jeremy drove from Edinburgh to London in an Audi A8. Great achievement. Some of the Chinese EV's actually look very nice, such as the new MG sports car, the problem is that they are electric. If they were full hybrids then that would be great. Love the Renault designs at the moment, especially the Megan and Austral. Love your banter Lee and nothing offensive ever comes out of your mouth. Your a breath of fresh air in this stiff and oversensitive world of ours. Keep up the great work. 👍😊 33:45
