I'm personally glad they had Kratos kill Heimdall. Heimdall was vicious, spiteful, arrogant, condescending, violent, sadistic, not to mention had a superiority complex. You could tell by his entire behavior and demeanor he only fought opponents weaker than him, never anyone on his own level, and enjoyed torturing his opponents. So I'm glad this happened to him.
I kinda felt sad for him when he died , there are some redeemable qualities he has such as loyalty to odin and the realm, yes he has the arrogance of a teenager yeah but that’s what made his character look so colorful, I kinda wished that the moment he calls kratos a “monster” he’d let go , and let him live (barely) , but this scenario would mean that we never meet him again until the end of ragnarok where he’s broken because of what happened to asgard and to him by kratos, I doubt he will let go of the attempt for revenge though , I just kinda realized why they had to kill him off 😂.
His cowardly nature was shown when he faced Thor in person. Heimdall was cocky and badmouths the big man behind his back but becomes docile when in front of Thor.
Anybody notice how his first set of attacks were slow and wild, as if testing his opponent. His next set was tighter and more focused but still just seeing if he would have to try, and one still did catch heimdall. The last volley though was perfect. it was fast, tight, accurate. Hiemdall couldn't counter it not because he was dazed or because it was too fast, but because kratos wasn't thinking, it was pure muscle memory.
Also his second volley of attacks told Kratos that heimdall was going to block his final hit instead of dodge it. He used that information to grab his arm and hit him, since he was unable to dodge with his arm stuck

@Ace Boogie He's talking about how the realm shift triggering midway basically turned off friction since the dodge animation got dragged out. And that you only stop moving laterally once the animation ends and you're back on your feet. But when that animation is allowed to run longer than it should, then you zoom through time and space like it was GOW2 using the Amulet of the Fates
Finally a video-worthy gameplay of this boss fight. I have a feeling people are just smashing their heads into the controller in the other videos available. Good job sir.

1:24 Freya knowing kratos will kill him is hilarious, but honestly fuck him he was let off easy if anything. He can take that with his death but for Kratos he probably thought about hermes again but well, at least heimdall kept his legs.
The way they ended this fight feels like it was personally designed to make it so that satisfaction wasn’t exactly found. I think it makes you feel shocked in a way, like the God of War from the Old Games was breaking out right there, strangling Heimdall to death as the he saw all the traumatic things that Kratos as has ever done right there. Even Kratos is shaken by what he has just done and like Mimir said, it’s hard to tell if they’re breaking fate or if fate’s breaking them. You just wouldn’t expect Heimdall do go down in such a way such as this.
Glad to see that the death of Asier Gods don't wreck havoc on their worlds like the deaths of Olympians did. Then again, it was only in God of War 3 did that started happening. No plagues or anything was released upon the world when Kratos Killed Ares or Athena

Omg I I had a glitch yesterday. I was just alone in front of heimdall without Freya. There was no dialog just cratos standing with his spear. I assumed you had to time your attack according to the blue rings which didn’t appear. Funny I’m just learning about the scene was meant to be totally different 😂
At 7:58 approximately at 0.25x speed you can see that he no longer has hofund with him after smacking him done a couple of times it must've lost it from his grip alone during the stun moment which would explain why he no longer need of its use anymore in round two he tries to use intense brute force on Kratos but it didn't end well for him he took an L (which he rightfully deserves for being an a-hole in his whole damn life and to everyone else) and Kratos takes the W.
Great fight, shame that after only one hit Heimdall throws a temter tantrum and facetanks everything. If he just kept slightly calmer I don't thjnk Kratos would be able to beat him

Such a disappointing fight except for the cut scenes imo…I was expecting some badass move set and for him to be a lot stronger than he was in this fight…I actually just played through this part and am moving on…So far the game is phenomenal and I hope the rest of the boss fights are better than this one..

Watching people playing this game I don’t think I’ve ever wanted Kratos to win. Like sure the gods are jerks but they at least know what they’re doing and have some real personality.
Well, most of them are arrogant, dysfunctional, superpowered narcissists. They don't even have any more insight into their own trauma-driven behavior than most humans. On one hand (from a narrative and character perspective), it's awesome that the gods are, after all, very human. On the other hand, it's deeply terrifying that beings of such power are not any more self-aware or wiser than mere mortals. They're exactly as fallible and limited by their own psychology as the humans they're worshipped by. Kratos is dysfunctional too, but at least he's growing, learning, and admitting mistakes. The majority of the gods are too proud to admit anything. It's so satisfying to watch them get dethroned. Thor even says that he refused to see how f'd up his father is, using his children and everyone else as pawns.
Oh they know what they’re doing alright…they know how to lie, manipulate, and abuse the lives of mortals and even their own kin for their own personal gain. In that aspect, they are no better than some mortals. A lot of these guys are deserving of death for the things they did, don’t see how you could take their side
A game in which you can pretty much trivialize every difficult boss due to the awful implementation of a new game mechanic? A game whose penultimate boss is spoiled by a laughable spectral appearance before him? A game in which characters like Omen King and All-Knowing are absolute jokes and don't act like they have the power of their namesakes? A game in which there's so much recycled content that by the time you hit the third act you're already hoping for it to be over? You're tripping hard, man
